Video: Once ISIS-held Yazidi Nadia Murad back to Iraq (Video in link)

Yazidi human rights activist Nadia Murad has finally come back to her fully devastated home in Kojo village, 20 km from Sinjar city in northern Iraq, a video obtained by The Baghdad Post revealed Thursday. 

The video showed Murad while seeking to find anything remaining of her family's belongings after their house had been ruined. Her sister was weeping beside her. 

Murad, a Goodwill Ambassador for the Dignity of Survivors of Human Trafficking of the United Nations (UNODC), spent three years outside Iraq. 

Speaking to reporters, Murad said, “What is left is just the bones of our brothers, fathers and mothers”. 

Murad was abducted by ISIS terror group but managed to escape after three months in captivity. 

She served to raise awareness over atrocities committed by ISIS.

SDF warns Iran-backed IMIS against presence in Syria

Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have threatened Iran's Militias in Iraq and Syria IMIS against entering the Syrian territories.

This comes in response to a statement by an IMIS leader saying the Iran-allied militias would enter Iraq's western city of Qa'im on Syrian borders to oust ISIS terrorists. 

Official spokesman for SDF, which is the backbone of the Kurdish People's Protection Units, warned the Shia militias of entering SDF-held areas in Hasakah province in eastern Syria.

Talal Sallou said in a press statement: "We will respond to any attempt by IMIS militants to enter the areas controlled by our forces".

US-led Coalition: Iraqi forces to face toughest fight in Mosul

US-led Coalition spokesman Colonel Ryan Dillon announced on Thursday that ISIS terrorists hold less than 10 kilometers in the right bank of Mosul.
 

He also asserted that the Iraqi forces will arguably face their toughest fight against ISIS terrorists.
 

This comes within the last phases of the offensive launched on 19^th of February by US-backed Iraqi forces supported by Iranian-backed sectarian IMIS Shiite militias to oust ISIS terrorists from Mosul, their last major stronghold.

LEEDS — The Islamic State (IS) militants in western Mosul are currently in control of less than ten square kilometers of land, US-led coalition spokesperson said on Thursday.

Army Colonel Ryan Dillon, Spokesman for Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR), said on twitter, that the IS militants are controlling not more than 10 square kilometers in western Mosul, but the fight for that area will be very hard, compared to previous battles.

the Iraqi forces recaptured the entire of eastern Mosul in January this year, after three months of fighting. in February, they launched the next phase of the operation, aiming to liberate the remaining western parts of the city. According t Dillon, there only a few hundred IS militants left in the districts around Mosul's Old City.

However, at least 200.000 civilians are believed to remain in IS captivity in those areas, which makes the operation a lot more complicated for the government forces, as their main aim is to avoid any civilian casualties.

ERBIL— Many residents of Hawija (Kirkuk province) die of food shortage and soaring prices for food items, says a resident of the district who recently escaped from the area under the control of the Islamic State (IS) while for liberating the district, an Arab chieftain from Kirkuk turns to Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani for assistance.

Khaled Salman,36, who escaped with his family from Hawija nearly one month ago, shared the update of the situation in Hawija (55km southwest of Kirkuk)  which is besieged by the Iraqi forces for nearly one year.

In Hawija, the prices are escalating very fast and one kilogram of sugar was sold at 60,000 IQD (nearly 51, USD), one kg rice at 55,000 IQD (approx. 47 USD), one kg salt at 18,000 IQD (almost 15 USD), and one kg tomato or potato 12,000 IQD (approx.10 USD) , according to Salman.

He said that the stalls ran out of milk powder for children and there was a dearth of medicine which made several elderly and young children die.

The continuous airstrikes against Hawija and its surrounding areas also did not allow for residents to cultivate their farms to obtain their sustenance.     

Salman, who is now residing in Laylan IDP camp in Kirkuk, also described the mental and psychological torture under IS rule for nearly three years.

"We were witness to all sorts of mishaps", he said, adding the IS militants executed people in front of children, women, elderly people in the marketplace.

As the group lost many of its fighters in the bombardments, they would recruit people, including teenagers, by force and torture those who disobeyed their orders in the most violent way, as stated by Salman.

He noted raping and forcing women to marriage were also common practices by IS fighters.

The people in central Hawija were not all original residents of the district, Salman explained. Kurds from Mosul and Turkmen from Tal Afar were moved to Hawija after Iraqi forces launched the operation to free Nineveh province.

Salman thought IS is buttressing its position in Hawija as the Iraqi government has no plans to free the area.

Earlier Iraqi Observatory for Human Rights urged the Iraqi government and international community to find a solution for the human catastrophe which is happening in Hawija and the rest of the Iraqi land under the IS control.  

Iraqi government intends to make Hawija the last station for eliminating IS in Iraq and due to this many civilians die of hunger and pressure on a daily basis, said Yasin Ubaidi, a member of Arab Council in Kirkuk.

He hoped that the operation to free Hawija starts soon, noting 6,000 volunteers who only need arms are ready to liberate the area.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi stated in his weekly address that Hawija operation will begin soon.

"We don't trust Abadi's words anymore because it has been for two years that he repeats this promise every now and then while people are killed and die of hunger every day," said Masrur Naji, the chieftain for al-Jobouri Tribe.

Naji called on Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani to free Hawija "because Hawija is not like Mosul as it is part of Kirkuk and Peshmerga can liberate and protect it."

LEEDS — US-led coalition airstrike destroyed an oil warehouse and 12 tanks belonging to the Islamic State (IS) in Hawija, west of Kirkuk province, a security source said on Thursday. 

The source who spoke to Al Sumaria News on condition of anonymity, said that the coalition aircraft bombarded IS crude oil market area in al-Shameet, Hawija. The strike hit and destroyed 12 oil tanks, and one of IS's largest crude oil warehouses, the source added.

The district of Hawija and the areas of al-Zab, al-Rashad, al-Riyad and al-Abbasi, are still controlled by IS militants since 2014, when the extremist group came to Iraq. 

The US-led coalition, including 68 nations, has been supporting the Iraqi forces in their fight against the Islamic State, since the start of the military operation launched in October, last year.

So these elite troops are letting all these civilians be killed and raped.
