wow, the Iraqi judiciary does it again, upholding the Pillars of democracy.

My simple mind is reading that they have validated the election results. If true, maybe they can move forward and start forming the next gov. Out with the old in with the new, old. I just hope Sadr comes to his senses and puts Abadi back in the drivers seat for a second go round. My big fear is that Hadi Ameri takes the PM spot. If that happens I can't help but feel like we're screwed.

Go Abadi

go electoral process

go friggen currency reform.

Yota once again thanks for bringing it day after day.

"Saron" comment on the decision of "federal" and warns of "the results of Ahmed Aqbaha"

"Saron" comment on the decision of "federal" and warns of "the results of Ahmed Aqbaha"

 Twilight News

Shafun News / The alliance "Ssron" confirmed its commitment to the Federal Court on the amendment of the electoral law approved by the House of Representatives warning at the same time that this is not an introduction to exploit the constitutional vacuum that may result from the completion of manual counting and counting by the end of this month.
Qahtan al-Jubouri, spokesman for the coalition in a statement that "the most important is the commitment to sound contexts of the work of the judiciary in terms of completing the process of counting and sorting by hand, not to exceed the age of Parliament."
Al-Jubouri added that "it is important that the process of counting and sorting in the event of exceeding the constitutional deadline for the life of parliament, the end of the month is a constitutional vacuum can be exploited, either in terms of extending the work of the government by expanding its powers or take the process of counting and sorting manual introduction of the re-election, To set a period of time to complete this process so as not to seize the will of the Iraqi citizen under the pretext of suspicions of fraud and appeals, which should have been the judiciary according to the rules followed.
Jubouri said that "respect for the constitutional and legal frameworks and contexts is very important for the continuation of the political process towards building state institutions, which requires all political blocs to continue their movement towards the maturity of dialogues aimed at alliances that accelerate the formation of the government and avoid any situation that could result in a constitutional vacuum may Leads to results for the Ahmad Aqbaha. "
The Federal Supreme Court, the highest judicial authority in Iraq, decided on Thursday to recount the votes manually in the legislative elections held in the country on May 12 last, thus confirming the decision of the Iraqi parliament.
The Supreme Federal Court of Iraq ruled unconstitutionally to cancel the votes of residents abroad, displaced persons and Peshmerga in the May 12 parliamentary elections.
Parliament has called for a recount, prompting calls for re-election. The Federal Supreme Court took the decision.
The deputies voted in favor of committing the commission to carry out a new manual census across the country to about 11 million votes, in addition to the assignment of nine judges to supervise this matter instead of members of the Commission.
In this context, the Court considered in its decision that "the appointed judge does not combine at the same time between carrying out his judicial duties and his functions in the Commission ... so there is no violation of the provisions of the Constitution."
On the other hand, the Federal Court rejected the decision of the parliament to cancel the results of the elections abroad, displaced and security forces, considering that this "waste of votes and confiscation of the will of voters."
However, Al-Mahmoud pointed out that the results, which were "plagued by irregularities such as forgery and others, which have complained to the Commission ... can be postponed until the announcement of their results negatively or positively."
The Sadoun coalition, supported by Sadr's leader Moqtada al-Sadr, surprised everyone by winning the lead in the elections, ahead of the Fatah coalition, especially the leaders of the popular crowd, making him the most prominent player to form the largest bloc in the House of Representatives.
The election saw a record boycott, with Iraqis ignoring the political elite, which has been under suspicion of corruption and ruling the country since the overthrow of Saddam Hussein in 2013.
Following the results, political figures in power have protested for years and demanded a recount, In particular the use of electronic voting for the first time in the country.

Legal expert: Extension of the work of Parliament is contrary to the Constitution
The legal expert, Ali al-Tamimi, ruled out extending the work of the House of Representatives, whose current term expires at the end of this month for violating the constitution.
Tamimi told the {Euphrates News}, "The work of the House of Representatives ends on June 30 and the end of parliament, the government ends according to international custom and the government becomes caretaker government and lack of authority."
"It is impossible to extend the work of the House of Representatives under Article 56 of the Constitution, which set four years for the parliamentary session, and will be extended only if the Constitution was amended."
"The decisions of the Federal Court are binding and binding on all authorities in Article 94 of the Constitution. Consequently, the main application will focus on the parliament to hold an extraordinary session to include the decision and make it enforceable." The 9-member Board of Commissioners also became judges according to the amendment and supported by the court. In all of Iraq to match the electronic results. "
He pointed out that "the Federal Court has confirmed that in the event of problems in the full electoral station, the results are canceled and also talked about the statistics of other stations," explaining that "the Federal Court supported the process of manual counting and counting throughout Iraq, but it only reversed the manual counting and counting in the minority And abroad. "
Al-Tamimi suggested that "a change in the electoral equation after the process of manual counting and sorting will affect the alliances and their form as will be affected by the results and all the wonders of the birth of a coalition blew up the decision of the Federal Court."
The Federal Court announced, on Thursday, the constitutionality of the decision of the House of Representatives in the Third Amendment to the Law of the elections of the Council of Representatives No. 45 of 2013 amended, and the response of the appeals filed.

Iraq's parliament holds extraordinary session to discuss extension of mandate

Iraq's parliament holds extraordinary session to discuss extension of mandate

The Iraqi parliament is holding an extraordinary session on Friday amid expectations that the session will witness the vote on the extension of its work, which ends on July 1.

A statement issued by the Information Department of the House of Representatives, that the special session will be held under the chairmanship of the President of the Council Salim Jubouri. According to parliamentary sources, the meeting comes to discuss the possibility of extending the work of Parliament.

This was the reaction of Iraqi political forces between supporters and conservatives on the decisions of the Federal Court on the legitimacy of the parliament session and its procedures on "fraud and manipulation" in the elections.

Confidence in the Iraqi judiciary prevented any fierce reactions to the decision of the Federal Court, although it was not satisfactory to all. The political parties between those loyal to the amended electoral law and opposition to it have always shared their statements that the decision of the Federal Court is Faisal.

The leader of the bloc of Asrun Muqtada al-Sadr demanded restraint and compliance with the law, although not convincing as described. He did not hide his fears that manual counting and counting would be a prelude to re-election. He called on the judiciary to abide by neutrality in the counting and manual sorting and should be determined not long time.

The alliance led by Hadi al-Amiri saw that the amended electoral law became effective after the court's response to the appeals filed, considering the manual recount will delay the formation of the next government. He also blamed the Prime Minister and the Commission for the violations of the elections for their failed management of the process, as he put it.

While the Democratic Party of Kurdistan explained that the decisions held the political process more in Iraq.

The coalition of victory led by Haider Abadi, confirmed his commitment to the decision, as did Vice President Iyad Allawi.

The ruling coalition led by Osama Najafi called for tight control of the storage areas of electoral funds, and take quick legal action against manipulators and counterfeiters.

The President of the Federal Court declared that the law subject to appeal did not violate the constitutional conditions.

I find it so entertaining that Jubouri’s powers were always so limited and his hands always tied, unless it’s his butt getting booted out. Now he is worse then a 2 year old throwing a temper tantrum and doing everything in his power stay in his position as long as possible. It appears he might well be one of those Parlimentarisns whose immunities are fixing to fall away leaving him exsopsed.. 😄

Said the legal adviser in the House of Representatives Sabah Karbouli that the decisions of the Federal Court dealt with the issue of the extraordinary session, and the ratification of the President of the Republic and the issue of confirmation of judges on the subject of an independent body, in addition to the serious violations that occurred from the Commission.

Karbouli said during his speech to the harvest of the Tigris, on Thursday, that the Federal Court responded to most of the appeals and provided for a clear constitutional violation in the cancellation of elections abroad and displaced.

Karbouli added that the Iraqi constitution did not provide for the extension of the life of parliament, and the text of Article 56 on four years ending on the thirtieth of this month. Otherwise, it will create a constitutional void.
