"The Iraqi delegation reviewed the study entitled (property recovery and disposal), which represented the nucleus of the Arab guide for the recovery and disposal of property, and the delegation put forward a proposal on the formation of an Arab anti-corruption alliance entitled Arab Declaration against Corruption.

The Iraqi delegation called on States parties to support the independence of the anti-corruption bodies, expand their powers and provide financial support for them, noting that "it was agreed to refer the proposal to an open-ended committee with the proposals of some countries for consideration and presentation on the agenda of the third session of the conference States Parties ".

Sistani's criticizes Abadi

Sistani criticizes Abadi

Twilight News

Shafiq News / criticized the religious authority Ali Sistani, the Iraqi government's measures to combat corruption, urging them to move seriously.

Iraq has been exporting an international list of the most corrupt countries for years.

Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi directed the Supreme Council to fight corruption by resolving the files in his possession and lifting the obstacles that prevent the resolution of many of the issues of slow recovery of funds and the introduction of corrupt to the judiciary.

"We must fight corruption according to legal frameworks and not through media reviews and statements," said Sistani's agent, Abdul-Mahdi al-Karbalai, in a Friday sermon at al-Sahan al-Husseini.

"The government must seriously fight corruption away from formal measures," he said.

A source close to the decision-making department of the Iraqi government, the preparation of a list of files of corruption will topple senior officials in the state.

"Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi will present in the next few days a list of names of officials involved in corruption cases, including ministers in previous governments, public directors and security officials," the source told the news agency.

He said the list would also include the name "very senior official." Twilight News reserves the right to be named for the time being.

He said he would not rule out that the announcement of this list or the campaign led by Abbadi to oust Fezdin would create "problems". But the latter "is determined to proceed with this file."

Political rivals accused Abadi of leaning on the corruption paper to liquidate his opponents and take an early electoral front. But Abadi denies that.

Thank You, Yota, for Your tireless efforts in bringing these articles over and The Best Of Your Weekend To You! :tiphat:

Here is an article mentioning the 785 being removed from the military. For some reason, I was thinking it was corrupt individuals. However, something may have been lost in the translation.

The article is from May 25, 2017. I suspect the associated folks have not been sitting on their hands the whole time and the process is likely well formulated, planned, and resourced at this time and is waiting on certain events or timing. As such, the corrupt may be taken into custody by the various Iraqi and International Agencies at a very high rate in a short amount of time. Having these corrupt individuals taken out at an appropriate time before the elections could back fill those positions with appropriate candidates.

A possibility. I suspect with all the other clean up that has occurred, closure on the remaining items is critical for reconstruction and economic development to get underway at an acceptable rate.

Just my opinion and :twocents:

So, two years of investigation by Transparency International, then they hand the proof to Iraq and Iraq.......will sit on it.  I hope Abadi pushes this public ASAP before it has the appearance of swaying the next elections. If the evidence is there, announce the culprits. Then Sadr can announce a public hanging and Iraq can move ahead.

DV,   The corrupt are definitely in a panic especially "Maliki" folks.   Justice will be served bc Iraq has the backing of the U.S.A, Western countries and we hope Arab countries to assist with bringing these crooks to justice and returning all "Stolen Wealth, Property" from the citizens and the Iraqi state.  "BILLIONS of dollars stolen.
