Iraq informs the Iranian Chargé d'Affairs of his refusal to bomb Iran to US bases and considers it a violation of sovereignty

Iran has been itching for a fight for 40 years.  They are propped up by China and Russia.  The later are in a military training exercise in the Straits of Hormuz.  It would not surprise me if we saw a battle between good and evil, as a red flag event to flip the current world Financial System that is so heavily dominated by the US.

I agree. I think the US response was just enough to not be severe, but enough to bait them into doing something else stupid so we can respond a lot stronger next time.. just my take.

Iraq's Sadr says he is willing to work with Iran-backed rivals to oust U.S. troops

تظاهرات-2 Iraqi Shi’ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr said on Monday he was willing to work with Iran-backed militia groups - his political rivals - to end the United States military presence in Iraq through political and legal means.

If that does not work, he will “take other actions” in cooperation with his rivals to kick out U.S. troops. Sadr’smilitia fought U.S. troops for years following Washington’s invasion and toppling of Saddam Hussein in 2003.

Sadr, who portrays himself a nationalist rejecting both Iranian and U.S. influence, called in a statement on Iran-backed militias to avoid “irresponsible actions” that can be used to justify attacks on Iraq.

Hey Sadr, you are backing the wrong people.   Get it thru your thick skull, we are not leaving as long as Trump is President.  Try some more Mickey Mouse stuff and I’m sure there is rocket with your name on it ready to go.  How about you help your people like you said you would and give their money some value. Backing Iran just makes you another corrupt Iranian stooge who needs to be gone.  Iraqi politicians never want to be unpegged from the dollar.  They are making too much money gaming the system thru the auctions.  My guess is our politicians are making money too or at the least the auctions are helping our Fed.  The entire thing stinks like a sewer.

Baghdad - AFP

The death toll from the American air strikes that targeted the bases of an Iraqi pro-Iranian Iraqi faction in response to the killing of an American in a missile attack increased to 25, which sparked anger in Iraq, while the Pentagon described the attacks as "successful." In the face of repeated attacks on American interests in Iraq, the United States promised a firm response. The American forces launched a series of raids on Sunday evening targeting command and control facilities belonging to the Hezbollah Brigades, one of the most prominent factions loyal to Iran in the popular crowd, which is part of the Iraqi forces and some of its factions are subject to Iranian domination.

For its part, Tehran claimed on Monday that these strikes reveal "support for terrorism" by Washington, especially since the Hezbollah Brigades belong to the Popular Mobilization Forces, which were formed to fight ISIS. A statement issued on Monday by the official of the Movements Directorate in the Popular Mobilization Authority, Jawad Kazem Al-Rabaiwi, said that the outcome of the attack on the headquarters of the 45th and 46th Brigades amounted to 25 dead and 51 wounded. The statement indicated that the death toll can be increased due to the presence of wounded in critical condition and severe injuries, as a result of the bombing that targeted facilities belonging to the Hezbollah Brigades near the city of Qaim and along the Iraqi-Syrian border in western Iraq.

On Sunday, US Defense Secretary Mark Asper announced that the strikes against the bases of the pro-Iranian Hezbollah Brigades in Iraq and Syria were "successful", and he did not rule out other steps "if necessary in order to act in self-defense and deter the militias or Iran" from committing hostile acts.

Esber said that he discussed earlier with US President Donald Trump "other options on the table", after 11 rocket attacks occurred in the past two months against American interests in Iraq, where an uprising against power and its sponsor Iran erupted, while Washington appears politically absent. American sources pointed the finger at the Hezbollah Brigades, and these sources considered the pro-Iranian popular crowd factions a source of greater threat than that posed by ISIS sleeper cells.

For his part, the spokesman for the caretaker head, Adel Abdel Mahdi, who is the commander in chief of the armed forces, condemned the "violation of Iraqi sovereignty."

In the same context, the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq group, in which the American sanctions against leaders were announced recently, saw that “the American military presence has become a burden on the Iraqi state, but rather a source of threat and aggression against our armed forces,” adding in a statement “it has become obligatory for us all Confronting him in all legitimate ways. ”

The first deputy speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Hassan Al-Kaabi, who is backed by the Saeron Parliamentary Alliance which is sponsored by Shiite cleric Moqtada Al-Sadr, called on the government to "take the necessary measures" to confront the American attacks, which was also requested by the Badr Organization, one of the most prominent armed factions loyal to Iran. Several deputies also condemned the Iraqi-American agreement that permits the presence of American forces in the country.

In Beirut, the Lebanese Hizbullah party expressed its condemnation of what it described as "brutal and treacherous American aggression", considering it "a blatant aggression against the sovereignty, security and stability of Iraq and the Iraqi people."

The attacks on American and other interests on the bases of factions loyal to Tehran raise fears of Iraqi officials who have been warning for months that their allies, the United States and Iran, may use the Iraqi field as a battlefield.

Since October 28, it has recorded 11 attacks on Iraqi military bases that include American soldiers or diplomats, leading to the targeting of the US embassy located in the security-fortified Green Zone in Baghdad.

The first ten attacks resulted in the deaths and injuries of many Iraqi soldiers, in addition to material damage, but the Friday attack represented a turning point, in which an another site was killed and the first time that 36 shells landed on one base where American soldiers were present, according to a source An American.

The American strikes coincided with the continued popular protests taking place in Baghdad and most of the southern cities. The protesters are demanding a "dismantling" of the political system established by the United States after the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Since the start of the protests in the first of October, the protests have been subjected to widespread repression, which has killed about 460 people and injured about 25,000, the vast majority of them demonstrators. Since the resignation of Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi a month ago, Iran has been pushing to name a successor to it.

And President of the Republic Barham Saleh Thursday threatened to resign, announcing his rejection of a candidate submitted by the pro-Iranian coalition to the post of prime minister to parliament. But this foreshadows the deepening of the political crisis in the country, especially with the growing influence of neighboring Iran.

The latest repercussions of the protests were the closure of the Nasiriyah oil field in the south of the country on Saturday and Sunday, which has a production of one hundred thousand barrels per day, before resuming work on Monday, according to local oil sources.

The Iraqi "Hezbollah Brigades" are considering options to respond to America

The Iranian "Guard" asserted that it has the right to "take revenge" ... Sistani criticized the "illegal practices of some parties"
Tuesday - 5 Jumada I 1441 AH - 31 December 2019 AD Issue number [15008]

1577727732717153800.jpg?itok=6Ku3V-Kv
Yesterday, Hezbollah Brigades fighters witnessed the damage caused by an American bombing of one of their headquarters in Al-Qa’im, in western Iraq.
Baghdad - London: «The Middle East»
At a time when the "Hezbollah Brigades" in Iraq announced that they were in a state of alert to study the options available to them to respond to the American bombing of their headquarters in Iraq and Syria, the Iraqi parliament failed to hold a session to respond to this bombing.
The "Kataeb", in a statement, announced that the response to the American bombing is awaiting orders, at a time when a number of members of the Iraqi parliament from Shiite blocs close to the "popular crowd" have gathered signatures to include a request to remove the American forces from Iraq in legislation issued by the parliament. But despite the condemnations from different political blocs, the Iraqi parliament failed to hold a full quorum session yesterday, so that its session turned into deliberation only and it is not an official session.
More important than the position of Parliament is what was issued by the Supreme Shiite cleric, Ayatollah Ali Sistani, who rarely expresses detailed positions outside Friday sermons. In a statement to him, the reference condemned "the sinful attack that targeted a group of fighters in the official Iraqi forces and led to the martyrdom and wounding of a large number of them", and at the same time in which he identified constants in front of all parties on how to deal with this development, where Sistani stressed " The need to respect Iraqi sovereignty and not violate it under the pretext of responding to unlawful practices by some parties. He considered that “only the official Iraqi authorities are concerned with dealing with those practices and taking measures to prevent them.” He also called on Sistani to "work not to make Iraq an arena for settling regional and international accounts and the interference of others in its internal affairs."
And if Sistani warns against turning Iraq into an arena for settling scores, the Iranian "Revolutionary Guard" has another opinion, as he affirmed in a statement yesterday that "revenge and responding to crime are a natural right of the people and forces defending Iraq." The statement, published by the "Sepah News" website, described the attack on the headquarters of the "Hezbollah Brigades" as "terrorist" and "aggression." The statement addressed the reference and the Iraqi people and the Iraqi people in general, the factions of the "popular crowd" in Iraq, that "the removal of the occupied American terrorists guarantees stability and security in this country," noting that "(the popular crowd) retains the right to avenge and respond to the great American crime."
Iraqi President Barham Saleh had a position close to that of Sistani. He also condemned the bombing and described it as a "violation of Iraqi sovereignty," but he also stressed the necessity of "securing the protection of missions, embassies, Iraqi military bases and international forces supporting Iraq’s efforts in countering terrorism" and on " The need to spare Iraq the consequences of regional and international conflicts ».
Returning to the calls to remove the Americans from Iraq, which was reliable in the parliament session yesterday, the lack of convening the session reflects the sharp division within the Iraqi scene, whether in terms of the American presence in Iraq and the nature of this presence, or in terms of the position towards some armed factions that profess hostility to the United States of America in favor of Iran also declares its loyalties to Iran from a doctrinal standpoint. At the forefront of these factions is the "Hezbollah Brigades", which is the Iraqi version of the Lebanese "Hezbollah". Although she did not participate in the Iraqi political life, as she did not participate in the Iraqi parliamentary elections like other factions, including "Badr" led by Hadi al-Amiri or "Asaib Ahl al-Haq" led by Qais Khazali, and therefore did not obtain ministries, it is always referred to a mysterious role played by an official The Iraqi file in Hezbollah, Muhammad Kawtharani, regarding the formation of various Iraqi governments.
And the "Kataeb" in terms of the organizational structure, is one of the most prominent Iraqi armed factions with a clear loyalty to Iran, through the ideological link with the Iranian jurist state, which allows it to obtain financing, training and armament.
And some brigades of the "Kataeb" are affiliated with the "Popular Mobilization Authority" and are located at the Iraqi-Syrian borders, which made them in direct confrontation with the Israelis, sometimes, and the Americans, at other times. Last summer, its camps were one of the main targets of the drones that targeted these camps. Although the Iraqi government has not yet announced the results of investigations into the repeated targeting of "crowd" camps, resigned Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi has hinted that Israel is behind this. Israel had gone further than that when it targeted one of the battalion leaders, Abu Ali al-Dubai, in the city of Qaim, on the Iraqi-Syrian border, with a drone and killed him.
But the bombing that took place the day before yesterday and targeted the "Brigade 45" of the "crowd", which belongs to the "Kataeb", was adopted by the United States in response to the "Kataeb" bombing the base "K1" last Friday. However, the battalions did not announce that they were targeting the base where the American soldiers are located, as the accident killed an another site.
This situation is similar to the many cases in which rockets or mortar shells are being targeted, which target either the vicinity of the American embassy in the Green Zone in Baghdad, or places or camps where Americans are present. The incident is often restricted against an unknown person, or even the accusation of ISIS that It has not been proven conclusively that it has missile bases in Baghdad, including near most Shiite neighborhoods, which is unlikely for the different ideological dimension and the fact that the environment is repellent to the organization.
Now, after the direct targeting by the Americans of a camp affiliated with the "Kataeb", the confrontation has become short between the two parties, especially since the declared goal of the organization linked to Iran is to drive the Americans out of Iraq. With the exception of this advertiser, their work is mysterious and confidential.

Washington liquidates Iran's man in Iraq

Image:

Date: December 31, 2019

One of the leaders responsible for the Iranian supply lines on the border between Iraq and Syria, who is called Abu Ali Khazali, also has another dynamic name, Abu Ali Madaniah, killed in the strikes.

As for his real name, it is: Mortada Jabbar Ghaylan Khazali.

Khazali is accused of having played a prominent role in the displacement of Iraqis from western Iraq and the Jurf al-Sakhr regions northwest of Baghdad, which led to a demographic change in these areas.

Khazali fought within Hezbollah’s ranks in Syria, and was chosen to lead a regiment within the “45th Brigade” of the Iraqi Hezbollah, to establish the Iranian presence on the Iraqi-Syrian border.

He also supervised the storage of Iranian weapons and missiles on the border, and is considered close to the leader of the Iranian Quds Force, Qassem Soleimani.

And the US Department of Defense, the Pentagon, in a statement issued by it, indicated that the raids targeted 5 bases belonging to the Iraqi party militia in both Syria and Iraq, pointing out that the raids came against the background of targeting the American base in Iraq.

And that led to the death of an another site. The sources in Iraq reported that the number of those killed in the American raids on the Iraqi Hezbollah guards increased to 25, including 3 Iranian officers, and about 50 others from the Iraqi crowd were injured as a result of the American bombing.

The US Department of Defense, the Pentagon, said in a statement that the raids affected weapons stores and command and control sites, noting that the Iraqi Hezbollah is ranked on the list of terrorist organizations, in the tables of the United States of America.

In the statement, the official expresses a feeling of disappointment with the "Iraqi statements condemning the American strikes, while we have not heard a condemnation of the provocations of Iranian-backed groups (Hezbollah Brigades)."

The official concluded his statement by saying, "It is moments like these when you see the true (face) color of people."

This came in a Tweet for journalist Rosen this evening.

WASHINGTON - (AFP) - Washington accused the Iraqi authorities on Monday of not making the necessary efforts to "protect" the interests of the United States, in the wake of American strikes that sparked a wave of condemnation in Iraq.

"We have repeatedly warned the Iraqi government and shared information with it to try to work with it to fulfill its responsibility to protect us as guests," a senior State Department official told reporters in Washington.

The official reminded that the US military and US diplomats are in Iraq "at the invitation of the Iraqi government."

He stressed that "it is her responsibility and duty to protect us. It has not taken appropriate steps. "

Since October 28, there have been 11 attacks on Iraqi military bases that include American soldiers or diplomats, leading to the targeting of the US embassy in the security-fortified Green Zone in Baghdad.

The first ten attacks resulted in one death and several injuries among Iraqi soldiers, in addition to material damage. However, the Friday attack represented a turning point, in which an another site was killed and the first time that 36 shells landed on one base where American soldiers were present, according to an American source.

On Monday, the Iraqi government announced that the US air strikes were pushing it to "review the relationship" with the United States.

"We are in close contact with the Iraqi government on these threats," the US official said, adding, "We have definitely told them that we will act in response to this latest attack."

Iraq Protesters Attack U.S. Embassy in Baghdad

Tensions are high after American airstrikes killed more than two dozen members of an Iranian-backed militia.

BAGHDAD — Dozens of angry supporters of an Iraqi Shiite militia broke into the United States Embassy compound in Baghdad on Tuesday, prompting tear gas and sounds of gunfire, as tensions escalated after American airstrikes this week that killed 25 militia fighters.

The protesters broke down a door and stormed inside the embassy compound after hundreds of angry supporters of the militia, Kataib Hezbollah, smashed security cameras outside the embassy.

Shouting “Down, Down U.S.A.!” the crowd hurled water bottles and stones. They raised militia flags and taunted the embassy’s security staff, who remained behind glass windows in a gated reception area. Protesters sprayed graffiti on the wall and windows in red reading: “Closed in the name of the resistance.”

Flames could be seen rising from inside the compound, and at least three United States troops were spotted on the roof of the embassy. It was not clear what caused a fire at the reception area, and a man on a loudspeaker urged protesters not to proceed any further: “The message was delivered.”he main story

The United States military carried out the strikes against Kataib Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran, on Sunday. They were described as retaliation for a rocket attack last week that the United States attributed to the group, which killed an another site at an Iraqi military base.

The American attack — the largest targeting an Iraqi state-sanctioned militia in recent years — and the calls for retaliation represent a new escalation in a proxy war between the United States and Iran in the Middle East.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the strikes were intended to send a message that the United States would not tolerate actions by Iran that jeopardized American lives.

Kataib Hezbollah said on Monday that it would retaliate for the American strikes, raising concerns of new attacks that could threaten American interests in the region.
