President Donald Trump, on Tuesday, held Iran responsible for any attack on his country's embassy in Baghdad, after Iraqi protesters, carrying the flags of the Popular Mobilization and the Iraqi Hezbollah, attacked the American embassy in Baghdad , and succeeded in storming the foreign courtyard of the embassy, after burning one of the gates to the embassy, condemning With the American air strikes that targeted, Sunday, bases belonging to the Iraqi pro-Iranian Hezbollah Brigades , they also burned flags and destroyed surveillance cameras, and broke down security gates in the vicinity of the embassy.

Iran killed an another site, wounding many. We strongly responded, and always will. Now Iran is orchestrating an attack on the US Embassy in Iraq. They will be held fully responsible. In addition, we expect Iraq to use its forces to protect the Embassy, and so notified!

- Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 31, 2019

Trump stressed, through a tweet on his account on Twitter, that the Iraqi government should protect the American embassy in Baghdad, noting that Iran was coordinating an attack on the US embassy in Iraq.

Trump tweeted: “Iran killed an American and wounded many. We have responded forcefully and always will. And now Iran is coordinating an attack on the American embassy in Baghdad. We will hold them fully responsible. In addition, we expect Iraq to use force to protect the embassy, and so we have been warned!”

This comes as Al-Arabiya and Al-Hadath sources confirmed that the American ambassador to Iraq, Matthew Toller, left the country two weeks ago .

Earlier, two officials at the Iraqi Foreign Ministry indicated on Tuesday that the American ambassador and embassy staff had been evacuated from Baghdad.

And quoting the American "Al-Hurra" channel on "Twitter", a source at the American embassy in Baghdad said that "there is no truth to the news of the evacuation of the American ambassador or employees from the embassy building," noting that "the employees are still in the embassy building, and the ambassador outside Iraq is on official leave." It seems every time Iraq is on the verge of doing something positive for its people chaos breaks out.  It is a lawless country that has had to deal with Isis and Iranian backed militia’s and politicians with ties to Iran for to many years.  This latest attack on our Embassy is revolting and is probably  going to be a catalyst for more setbacks and loss of life.  It is very sad to me.  Hey Iran, why don’t you try PEACE instead of mayhem and destruction.

While efforts were being made to eradicate the elimination of ISIS in Iraq, four years ago, Kurdish peshmerga forces were carrying fears of the post-elimination of the terrorist organization.

This Kurdish concern was caused by the Iranian-backed PMF militia and the Iraqi government, according to an article by the writer who specializes in military affairs for the Israeli newspaper "Jerusalem Post", Seth Franzman.

In his article, Frantzmann explained that the militia of the Popular Mobilization had grown its influence in Iraq over a period of ten years, during the government of Nuri al-Maliki, whose wrong policies fueled the fire of ISIS, and the government of his successor, Haider al-Abadi, who strengthened the status of the crowd in Iraq.

Frantzmann added that the Abadi government and parliament worked to grant official status to the PMF militia, including the Hezbollah Brigades that were subjected to American air strikes, on Sunday, as a result of its bombing of the "K1" base Friday, which contains American soldiers in the oil province of Kirkuk in northern Iraq, which resulted About the death of an another site.

The military expert explained that both the Sunnis and the Kurds feared the PMF militias because of their violations during the war on ISIS. This situation was expressed by the Peshmerga leader and former spokesman for the Kurdistan Regional Parliament in Iraq, Kamal Kirkuki, who proposed turning Iraq into federal states, where Sunnis and Kurds would be given independence and rights instead of enabling Shiite militias to control others.

Kirkuki had indicated in a previous interview with the "Rodao" website in 2016, that the crowd could not carry out attacks because the American coalition was not providing them with air support, adding that the Kurdish peshmerga did not want to work with the crowd.

Relations between the Hashd and the Kurdish region were strained in 2016, after more Hashd elements were sent to the north, where the two sides met after the defeat of ISIS, and clashes took place between them in the "Toz Khurato" area, where Kurds were attacked by the Shiite militias.

In September 2016, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, warned that the crowd would enter Mosul during the city’s liberation process, adding that the majority of the Sunni Arab population has the right to make a decision about whether to allow the crowd to enter the city.

Barzani then referred to the activity of the Hashd in Sinjar, the stronghold of the Yazidi minority, and it is unclear whether the activities of the Hashd in Sinjar caused fear of the Yezidis and their failure to return to their homes after the defeat of ISIS.

Increasing influence after the Kirkuk battle

In September 2017, following the Kurdish decision to organize a referendum on the independence of Kurdistan, leaders of the Popular Mobilization, such as Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and Hadi al-Amiri of the Badr Organization, planned an attack on the Kurdish areas where they wanted to retrieve Kirkuk and Sinjar from the hands of the Kurds, areas that the Peshmerga forces defended during the war with ISIS Indeed, the Shiite militias managed to take control of Kirkuk and take it from the Peshmerga hands in mid-October of the same year, according to the newspaper "Jerusalem Post".

Franzman says the battle for Kirkuk has strengthened militias, who now publicly say they will "evacuate" American forces and fight the United States and Israel.

In June 2018, air strikes targeted Hezbollah Brigades in Syria. At that time, the militias were already working with Iran to bring precision-guided weapons and ballistic missiles across Iraq to Syria. More ballistic missiles were due to arrive in August 2018.

As of February 2019, the Hezbollah Brigades began to harass American forces in Iraq. Then it proceeded to fire rockets at the Americans. On December 27, an another site was killed, and the United States took revenge for its latest air strike on Sunday.

Franzman concludes his article by saying: "Kurdistan region generals and officials have warned against such an accident years ago. Their warning has fallen to deaf ears to a large extent."

Resigned Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi confirmed, on Monday, that US Defense Secretary Mark Asper was informed of Washington's intention to carry out attacks in Iraq hours before the Qaim attack.

Abdul-Mahdi said in a speech to him at a cabinet meeting followed by Alsumaria News, that "after the (K1) base accident, there was a call at seven quarter past seven with the US Secretary of Defense."

He added that "Asbar mentioned that America will carry out attacks on the bases of the Hezbollah book and this will happen after hours, and I told him that this is a serious matter and an escalating matter and we must consult on these issues and the investigations are still ongoing and did not specify the party that carried out the bombing."

Abdul-Mahdi confirmed , "I informed Asper that the matter would be dangerous, and he said that the decision was taken and I am communicating this thing," noting: "We tried to inform the security and mobilization leaders that an attack would be resolved."

The Prime Minister stressed, "What happened is that two planes attacked the positions of the 45th and 46th Brigade."

Thank you Yota and Butifldrm for being all over this breaking news. I appreciate your posts.  The attack on our base and now our Embassy is a terrible escalation and a direct challenge to our position in Iraq from Iran.  Iran is ratcheting up its presence and President Trump will have no choice but to respond.  Buckle your seatbelts folks, this may get real ugly this time.  Iran is poking the bear and it won’t end well for them and their proxies.

Live broadcast ... the vicinity of the US embassy in Baghdad after protesters tried to storm it
The vicinity of the US embassy in Baghdad
"The Seventh Day" offers a live broadcast from the vicinity of the American embassy in Baghdad, where Iraqi protesters attacked on Tuesday the main gate of the American embassy in Baghdad, condemning the American air strikes that targeted the bases of the pro-Iranian Hezbollah militia in Iraq, as protesters burned flags and smashed surveillance cameras as they chanted Death to America, America is the Great Satan.

The protesters managed to cross all the checkpoints without difficulty in the heavily fortified Green Zone, and the protesters carried banners reading on one of them: "Parliament must remove the American forces, otherwise they will be expelled." And protesters wrote on the wall of the American embassy building the phrases "closed by the command of the people."

The leader of the Asa’ib al-Haq militia, Qais al-Khazali, and the leader of the Badr Hadi al-Amiri militia, arrived in front of the American embassy in the Green Zone in the capital Baghdad, and supporters of “Hezbollah Iraq” erected tents in front of the embassy building. The protesters also raised slogans calling for the closure of the embassy and the expulsion of the ambassador.

These protests come amid an escalating wave of anger in Iraq against the United States of America following the air strikes carried out by the American forces on Sunday night against the positions of the Hezbollah Brigades in western Iraq, and resulted in the death of 25 people, in response to the American death in a missile attack targeting a base in northern Iraq that includes American soldiers.

The US Department of Defense (the Pentagon) announced the targeting of 5 sites in Iraq and Syria under the control of a paramilitary group supported by Iran on Sunday, in retaliation for a missile attack that killed an American who was among the forces present at the K1 base near the Iraqi city of Kirkuk.

Two officials at the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the American ambassador and employees of the American embassy in Baghdad were evacuated.

For its part, an official of the "Hezbollah" Brigades in Iraq confirmed to "Russia Today" that there is no intention to storm the American embassy in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, and Jaafar al-Husseini, the leader of the "Hezbollah" Brigades in Iraq, denied their intention to storm the American embassy in Baghdad, saying: "There is no intention We have to storm the US embassy building, "he declined to give further details.

Baghdad / news

The headquarters of the US embassy in central Baghdad was burned down by members of the popular crowd after a demonstration and protests to avenge the US air strike two days ago.

The scene brought to mind, the American embassy in Tehran was burned in 1979, when a group of Islamic students in Iran stormed the American embassy in support of the Iranian revolution and took 52 American embassy residents hostage for 444 days from November 4, 1979 to January 20, 1981.

The matter is seen by some observers as a reaction to the burning of the Iranian embassy in Karbala last November 4, when a number of Iraqi protesters did so.

Burning operations of the American embassy in central Baghdad continue until now, as the latest outcome indicates 24 cases of suffocation among the crowd's employees as a result of tear gas.

New Zealand entered shortly before 2020 in a carnival atmosphere that most of its cities witnessed to celebrate the New Year.
