Iraq is considering the repercussions of the US withdrawal from Syria
BAGHDAD (AFP) - An important meeting with security leaders on Sunday was held to discuss the repercussions of the US president's decision to withdraw his troops from eastern Syria and how this would affect the borders and security of Iraq.
"Today we have a meeting with the security leaders in the ministries of defense and interior on the security plan to secure the border of terrorist gangs after the withdrawal of US troops from Syria," said a member of the Committee on the wisdom bloc Abbas al-Sayyid Srout told the {Euphrates News}.
He explained that "the meeting will discuss the plan and contact with the federal government in the event of breaches or security gaps in them."
Sarwat pointed out that the parliamentary committee "is determined to have an important role in following up the plan."
On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump announced on Twitter that US forces fighting a Syrian fighter had been defeated after "defeating the organization and winning the battle."
"After a historic victory against a preacher, the return of our young people came home," Trump said in his tirade. "We defeated Da'ash. That was the only reason we were there."
Trump's surprise decision provoked the world, and even his close circle in the White House, prompting US Defense Secretary James Matisse to step down as well as international coalition envoy Brett McGork in retaliation for Syria's withdrawal to a series of senior officials who resigned in the Trump administration.

Mawazine News
Turkish media reported that the army sent a convoy of armored vehicles within military reinforcements, which reached the state of Calais in the south of the country, on the border with Syria.
The sources said that "the convoy was sent from various military barracks in the country, and arrived in the district" Elbeily "in the state of Calais, accompanied by teams of police forces.
Turkey announced the postponement of a military operation was about to launch, directed against the Kurds north-east of the Euphrates, in Syria, while it was a cautious welcome to the decision of US President Donald Trump to withdraw troops from the region.
"My telephone conversation with Trump and the contacts of our diplomatic and security apparatuses, as well as recent US statements, have led us to wait for a while," Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a speech in Istanbul. "But it certainly will not be an open period."
US President Donald Trump announced Wednesday the withdrawal of his country's troops from Syria, amounting to two thousand soldiers, stressing that the organization was called "defeated" in Syria.

Trump: We will not support the armies of rich countries at the expense of taxpayers
US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that there were no armies of rich countries around the world.
Trump said in a new tweet on Twitter that his country would not continue to support wealthy nations around the world at the expense of taxpayers in the United States.
Trump believes that these countries are exploiting his country, and that he disagreed with his outgoing Defense Secretary James Matisse on this particular point.
Matisse resigned from office, joining a series of high-ranking officials who resigned in the Trump administration since taking office almost two years ago.
The move came a day after Trump announced the withdrawal of US troops from Syria, which Matisse opposed

Trump thanks Saudi Arabia for funding the reconstruction of Syria on behalf of America
(AFP) - US President Donald Trump on Monday thanked Saudi Arabia for what he said was the kingdom's funding for the reconstruction of Syria instead of his country.
"Saudi Arabia has now agreed to spend the money needed to help rebuild Syria instead of the United States," said Trump through his Twitter account. "Is not it nice to help the wealthiest countries rebuild their neighbors instead of a great country, the United States? , Which is located 5000 miles from Syria .. Thank you to Saudi Arabia. Honest to God, nobody is happy whether we stay or go. Neither side or the Syrians are happy with this decision. I'm tired of my tax money being spent on nonsense, projects that go no where, and just plain pork. I don't know whether this is a good or bad idea. I don't have enough real information to form an opinion.

BAGHDAD -
The Security and Defense Committee on Tuesday confirmed the undeclared entry of US troops withdrawn from Syria to the provinces of Anbar, Nineveh and Erbil.
"A large number of US combat troops withdrawn from Syrian territory have entered the provinces of Anbar, Nineveh and Arbil in an undisclosed manner," said Karim al-Muhammadawi, a member of the committee.
He added that "these withdrawals currently exist in the military bases deployed in the deserts of Anbar and Nineveh, as well as their presence in the military bases in the province of Arbil."
He pointed out that "the US side seeks to exploit the strategic agreement concluded with Baghdad to bring troops withdrawn from Syria to Iraqi territory," noting that "the strategic agreement did not include the deployment of combat forces, but provided for the training of security forces and equipped with weapons."
"The Security and Defense Committee will meet with the security leaders to discuss the foreign presence in the country in general and to set the border with Syria," he said, adding that "the strategic agreement will be work to cancel it being useless and did not abide by the US side of its terms."

Information / Translation ..

US senator from Florida, Marco Rubio, said on Saturday that the US withdrawal from Syria could be delayed somewhat.

"The US withdrawal was slowed down to protect US, Israeli and Kurdish interests," Robio was quoted as saying by Global News in his translation report.

"We have outsourced the fight against a Turk by the Turks, but the first is to eliminate the Kurds who see them as a threat because they want to establish their independent state in northeastern Syria and southern Turkey," he said.

"The US forces have a small presence in southern Syria in the border area of Al-Tanf, and it is very much against the presence of Hezbollah," he said. "We have people here who fought for two years as ground forces alongside us and may be subject to slaughter by their Turks and their families."

"The abandonment of the Kurds by the United States as a key partner is a moral mistake, as well as causing harm to the US reputation in the region and asking who will participate with us in the future," Rubio said. Ending / 25 z

Iran pulls out military advisors from Iraq, after US withdrawal from Syria

Iran's ambassador to Iraq Iraj Masjedi

Iran has withdrawn all of its military advisors from Iraq, Iran's Ambassador to Iraq, Iraj Masjedi, claimed on Friday, saying no need for Iranian advisors after the declaration of victory over ISIS, according to a report in Iran's Press TV.

The Iranian claims came in the wake of US President Donald Trump to withdraw his troops from Syria.

Masjedi, a former IRGC Quds force commander, slammed the US for keeping its forces in Iraq and "reinforcing its bases and establishing new footholds" there, according to the report.

The Iranian ambassador made his remarks during a meeting with Iraqi students and journalists in Baghdad.

The Iranian statement followed soon after US President Donald Trump made a surprise trip to Iraq to visit US troops the day after Christmas.

Perhaps there is a deal that has been struck..........Why should Russia and the US fight over all of the ME squalor?  It appears to me they have simply come up with a plan to divide things up.......Russia will be the keeper of Iran and Syria........the US will be the keeper of Iraq, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.  The can figure out the rest later.

Being the 2 countries that hold 90% of the worlds nukes.......better to try to work together..........and no, I have no great trust and faith in Putin or Russia.......but I also am smart enough to know that the way the media paints him is probably not totally accurate....

Good news........less likely to get in a dust up over a sandy dessert.........and a bunch of clowns who have trouble walking and chewing gum at the same time........JMO......CL
