Adoption of the national currency

 

Based on the decision of the Council of Ministers and in light of the policy of the Central Bank of Iraq to encourage reliance on the national currency in financial transactions inside Iraq provided by the banking system and non-bank financial institutions, it was decided that the electronic financial services provided inside Iraq through (automated teller machines, points of sale devices , electronic payment gateway ) in the Iraqi dinar currency.

Baghdad Today - Baghdad

Today, Thursday, the Central Bank of Iraq decided to use the local currency (dinar) only at ATMs.

According to a statement of the Central Bank received by (Baghdad Today) that "based on the decision of the Council of Ministers and in light of the policy of the Central Bank of Iraq to encourage reliance on the national currency in financial transactions inside Iraq provided by the banking system and non-banking financial institutions, it was decided that the electronic financial services provided inside Iraq through (ATMs, POS devices, electronic payment gateway) in the Iraqi dinar currency. "

ATMs in Iraq operate in local (dinar) and foreign (dollar) currencies.

    Baghdad - The
    Central Bank of Iraq directed, on Thursday, to adopt the dinar for electronic financial services provided inside Iraq.

    According to a statement by the Central Bank, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), "it was decided that the electronic financial services provided inside Iraq through ATMs, POS machines and electronic payment gateway, in the Iraqi dinar currency."
    He added that "this came based on the decision of the Council of Ministers in light of the policy of the Central Bank of Iraq to encourage reliance on the national currency in financial transactions inside Iraq provided by the banking system and non-banking financial institutions."

It is noteworthy that ATMs use Iraqi dinar and dollar denominations in withdrawals for citizens.

A statement by the Central Bank, received by (Al-Oula News), said, "It was decided that the electronic financial services provided inside Iraq through ATMs, POS machines and electronic payment gateway, in the Iraqi dinar currency."
