Shafaq News/ First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, announced today, Monday, that the general budget bill will reach Parliament early next week, while stressing the importance of discussing it to support the poor classes and segments, employees and the food basket.

 

Al-Mandalawi's media office said in a statement received by Shafaq News agency, "First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, confirmed that the draft general budget law will reach Parliament early next week, after a phone call he made with Finance Minister Taif Sami."

 

Al-Mandalawi stressed "the importance of the budget bill arriving soon to the parliament and starting to discuss its items and make the necessary amendments to it by the Finance Committee, in a way that guarantees the proper application of the government curriculum, especially supporting the poor classes and segments and ensuring the continuity of providing basic materials through the food basket, as well as securing salaries." Moein Al-Kadhimi told {Euphrates News} agency, that: "The committee is ready to receive the budget and start studying it."

He added, "With regard to those whose contracts have been terminated, the draft budget has not reached us yet, and it is known that 30,000 job grades have been allocated to the people whose contracts have been terminated from the popular crowd, and there are other grades for the army, police, and all types of security."

Al-Kazemi called for "the need to implement decisions accurately, and not to circumvent them and implement them in a mood."

The Parliamentary Finance Committee attributed the budget’s delay in the government’s discussion table to the change in the exchange rate of the dollar, proposing to form a joint committee of its members and specialists from the Ministry of Finance to bridge views on the budget.

 

The head of the Finance Committee, Atwan Al-Atwani, said: “The budget is still under study by the government, and it is certain that a re-evaluation of it will be carried out in light of the reduction in the dollar exchange rate.”

 

Al-Atwani added in an interview with "Al-Sabah" that "the exchange rate was set by the government at 1300, and therefore there will be a re-review after the funding gap," pointing to "the growth of the budget deficit whenever the exchange rate decreases, so the government is working today to set an acceptable deficit ratio that can be dealt with." ".

 

He explained that "changing the exchange rate forced the government to work to control and bridge the financing gap, in a budget that will witness lower expenditures by 200 trillion dinars."

 

A member of the Finance Committee, Nermin Maarouf, said: “New visits by the region’s delegation to Baghdad complement previous visits to negotiate the region’s share and dues in the 2023 budget and end outstanding disputes, especially with regard to the thorny oil and gas file after the Federal Court’s decisions that the oil and gas law is unconstitutional for the regional government. As well as its decision to illegally send 200 billion dinars to the region.

So..... it was coming to parliament .. THIS WEEK and now we are at next week. ? another delay. waiting for HCL to catch up. Delay until at least the 1st week in march.  IMO
