Today is Abadi's last day as Prime Minister.

Immunity drops for the bad guys, but there is no government.

So what happens now?

Abadi, and the COM will continue the day to day operations of the country as a caretaker government.  The Parliament will cease until the new parliament is formed.

Journal June 30, 2018

Baghdad - Mohammed Salhi

Empty halls and sitting seats. The scene in the parliament building, after four years of parliamentary session, has often been characterized by loudness and controversy. It was an example of ridicule and cynicism by the public opinion, which vilify the MPs' performance.

On Saturday, the House of Representatives ended its third legislative session, after a feverish attempt to extend its age by adding a paragraph allowing it to amend the election law, but that will not come to light. Today, the deputies have no immunity and ordinary citizens according to constitutional timing, Hadi al-Amiri read the "light" on him, and called for the acceleration of the formation of a new national government, while included the last session of the parliament unspoken hidden, the deputies complained of the lack of retirement and others fled on the accelerator through the international airport.

Despite the importance of today's special session, the Speaker of the House of Representatives Saleem al-Jubouri, who was busy traveling abroad, left the honor of concluding the third legislative session as usual in all meetings. The second deputy, Hammam Hamoudi, left the parliament hall after the quorum was not met. To come the third deputy, Aram Sheikh Mohammed, who ended the sessions urgently and turn the Hall of the House of loud and hot to only seats that speak only memories of four years.

At the beginning of the meeting, the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Hamam Hamoudi, the General Secretariat of the House of Representatives to transmit the results of fact-finding to the concerned parties, while attributed the head of the parliamentary bloc Habib terminal not complete the quorum of today's meeting, to the unconvincing majority of deputies extraordinary sessions.

The beginning of the outgoing parliament was the best, where Abbadi and Jabouri worked to find harmony between the two authorities. This situation continued for months, but the relationship began to break down between them after the sit-in of what was known as the reform party where al-Jabouri changed his alliances.

The parliament began its work coinciding with the storming of the northern provinces, and voted on a government ministry known as the hawkish government, which ended with mass bargaining and the formation of a technocrat government, along with a financial crisis that reduced the state revenues to 50 percent amid tension and attraction between the parliament that tried to increase it, Which it intends to reduce to provide salaries.

A few hours before the end of the life of parliament, a former deputy complained that his pension after midnight is not sufficient in the coming days after reaching less than four million dinars. Another deputy rushed out of Baghdad International Airport early with his family for fear of legal proceedings against him. After the demise of his parliamentary immunity.

Maybe it is just me but I really think a significant portion of the culpable will be taken into custody starting tomorrow possibly right after 00:00:01 July 1, 2018. I further suspect that those who have fled Iraq to another Country will either be immediately extradited back to Iraq or on to the ICC. I also suspect INTERPOL and other international policing arrangements are tracking the Iraqi criminals and know where they are now in and out of Iraq and already have the agreements in place for extradition.

Maybe Nouri al-Maliki will show up in this Criminal Dragnet, too. I am hoping his immunity is expired now or will be expired in an hour or so.

Sure is interesting and I can't wait for further news. Thank You everyone for posting all these articles!!! :tiphat:

I agree, Pitcher!!! :twothumbs:

Removing the critical "corruptive entanglements" should eliminate much of the current churn, especially related to the May 12 elections and recounting, and move things on to a Stable, Secure, Safe, and Sovereign Iraq. Provided the churn settles and the new GOI is installed and active (with corrupt characters removed), there may be good news from an International Credit Rating Agency promoting Foreign Investment in Iraq.

Well, anyway, just my conjecture, thoughts, opinion, and :twocents: for whatever THAT is worth!!! CAVEAT EMPTOR, Reader!!! :o
