nannab, once the Council of  Representatives is dissolved, losing immunity,  the Council of Ministers, though resigned can still run everyday business.  Abadi, as head of the of the Council of Ministers could take advantage of this rare moment of opportunity! 😉

If this holds, I think this is exceptionally good news!!!   :goodnews:   :goodnews:   :goodnews:

Possibly, immunity will be expired as of 00:00:01 on July 1, 2018 in Iraq and ALL the pending indictments will be served on ALL the corrupt politicians (including Nouri al-Maliki). This would help to remove all the miscreants stirring things up to prevent the lawful government from being formed. If these indictments are served immediately on or about July 1, I suspect the new government will form more smoothly and more quickly. Then, Good News AND Good For US!!!

:crossedfingers:   :crossedfingers:   :crossedfingers:

Just my conjecture, thoughts, opinion and :twocents: for whatever THAT is worth!!! :o

In The Mean Time.............................................

Ohhhh, and July first is coming really soon. Maliki would be a consolation prize to not seeing Hillarious in prison. Maliki better pack his bags and set them by the front door, and just leave those boat loads of money right where they are. Hands up, gotcha.

Baghdad / Baghdadi ... The legal expert Haider al-Sufi that "the work of parliament ends constitutionally at the end of this month."

"The current parliamentarians will lose their legal and constitutional immunity on the first of next month," Sufi said, noting that "the end of the parliament will not affect the work of the state and its executive bodies."

He added that "the work of other regulatory bodies such as integrity and financial control and the Office of the Inspectors General will continue and this executive control can be active in the absence of parliamentary oversight."

"The absence of parliament and its legislative and supervisory authority does not affect the formation of the regime in Iraq or the peaceful transfer of power and the political process," he said, adding that "the constitution has no text to extend the work of the parliament, but provides a specific life for the work ends at the end of four calendar years."

Article 56 of the Constitution stipulates that the term of the electoral cycle of the Chamber of Deputies shall be four calendar years, beginning with the first session and ending at the end of the fourth year.

"The current parliamentarians will lose their legal and constitutional immunity on the first of next month,"

I'm thinkin' that's gonna cause some of them to start gettin' a little "squirmy" (btw, that's the 'word of the day').  I'm quite sure that also applies to everyone from parliamentarians all the way up to Abadi, and includes Maliki.

Riddle me this Batman:  If someone is in Parliament or higher now, IS A CROOK, and gets re-elected, normally, they would have continuous immunity.  BUT- if the NEW government isn't formed BEFORE the end of the OLD government,

aren't they ALL exposed, without any immunity whatsoever, until the NEW government is formed?

I mean, this may actually be set up like this to encourage them to form the new government as quickly as possible, but it makes me think that this would be an EXCELLENT opportunity to "clean house".  I believed that the bad actors were responsible for all of the delays in forming this new government, but what if it's the good guys that are dragging this out in order to pick off some bad apples?  (hint:  Maliki)

If so............  well played.
