why not throw the father-in-law Maliki in for good measure

My thoughts too, nannab. This only gives that rat more time to move his stolen assets.

Which he has probably already done. But they ARE trying to drain the swamp.

Bet Trump-ster had some input on this, too.

This is a very encouraging post- thanks very much Yota691- and for everyone who commented on it.

I recall Shabibi saying publicly, that Maliki had built a home with proceeds intended for the Iraqi citizens, "that could house 30,000 people."

Generally Accepted Accounting Principles -and international auditing standards, were applied and implemented years ago (thanks to Trump) and I suspect that the vast majority of assets stolen by corrupt Iraqi officials has alreadu been accounted for..

Central Iraq freezes the assets of Maliki's son-in-law and eight officials

A +AA-

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - The Central Bank of Iraq issued a circular to Iraqi banks informing them of its decision to freeze the assets and seize the property of nine former and current officials, including the son-in-law of former Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, against the background of non-payment of debts owed to the state.

The Central Bank’s decision stipulated the seizure of movable and immovable funds for each of Yasser Sakhail, who is the son-in-law of al-Maliki, and his brother Luqman Sakheil.

The decision included the former governor of Karbala, Aqeel Al-Taraihi, who is close to Al-Maliki, in addition to MP Zuhair Al-Araji and former MP Hajim Al-Hasani.

The names included the official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ali al-Quraishi, and the official in the Prime Minister’s Office, Walid Rida. The list included both Saeed Khader and Abdullah Muhammad Abdullah without specifying their job characteristics.

And local media reported that the Central Bank's decision not to pay the aforementioned officials debts owed to the state in return for renting homes belonging to the government.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi pledged on several occasions to refer all the corrupt to the judiciary, regardless of their position in the country.
