SgtFuryUSCZ
***/// TheKurds want more goodies from The U.S. Army Materiel Command, they can't get a damned thing outta Baghdad, not even their money, much less in a timely manner... If they are going to survive the next onslaught of terror - be it from daash - OR MORE LIKELY FROM IRAN, WHO IS TAKING OVER IRAQ to hear them tell it in their mosques - they want to have a fighting chance. They begged and pleaded for US assistance when they had to go at it alone, even Baghdad didn't help. Yet they still shamed Baghdad by showing them how it's done... not like the IRAQI troops the US armed and trained who turned tail and ran, dropping the weapons US TAXPAYERS PAID FOR right into daash's lap. The Kurds would not likely squander an opportunity like that.

SgtFuryUSCZ
***/// We agree with HisYOTAness & TheSNACK - IRAN cannot have Iraq.... but that's what we heard they are touting in their mosques - complete sovereignty of the region will be theirs upon completion of their nuclear program.... a program they say no one can stop, regardless of sanctions and Agreements with infidels which they are not bound to honor because they do not make deals with the enemies of allah...... tlars brother
this article and this thread is way overblown. All this is saying is that the US recognizes Kurdistan as a friend of the USA and wants to support them..We do not support a separate state and this does not promote that. Good grief. 5

Carrello
Obama has plenty of experience dividing a country! Just look at the USA. Is your comment just random, because I see nothing about the President in the article. But touche'. You have to get a dig in when you can, relevant or not. A Republican congressman, one without much to brag about, nor highly respected in California, by the way, is dividing Iraq by proposing them as separate. The USA just spent over 4,000 lives and trillions of dollars to supposedly instill democracy. How does this bill bring Iraq together? You don't need an American law to get arms to the Kurds. This article tells a very small story, and the headline must have been conceived by the National Enquirer. Tlar's brother: I agree with you, but it takes less effort and thought just to react rather than read and digest, think, and comment. 11
rsl1512
Iraq only works if all of the country is united. If the Kurds get a seperate state status then the secterian divide starts all over again shites vs sunnis and ISIS once again gains a foothold. The US should instruct Bagdad to deliver the military hardware to the kurds reinforcing the central common Government . If the Kurds are seperate then our dinnars become worthless because the Kurds have in the past indicated that they wanted there own currency and keep in mind a lot of the country's wealth is in the ground controled by the Kurds 1
TrinityeXchange
the federalization of iraq is a concept that has been kicked around a few times and highly considered. sunni, shia, and kurd federalized states is believed would add stability to the region. at the end of the day though the underlying question is "who controls resource rights?" that is always the issue regardless of how logistical lines are drawn. the fight will always be about control of the resources.

So we are saying we will work with Barzani and not Abadi? What the heck is this us government up to, changing the world to make everyone hate each other, causing chaos and hatred. It's sickening, and for anyone who can't see this One Big Azz Mistake America, I pray that God makes you worthy of open eyes, but first and foremost, I will pray that you want truth no matter where it takes you.

gymrat76541
Sounds to me like the US Congress is trying to recognize the Kurds as a separate nation! Why would this even be in our Congress? The internal politics of another country has no place in our country! Talk about a new way to waste tax payers time/resources & drive a wedge in our relations with Baghdad! WOW

Theseus
Kurdish parties were removed from the US terrorist list in December 2014. The bill is the next step in doing legal official business with them by officially recognizing them. The Kurds have always wanted their own country. This was long before Sadam even came to power. The problem is that in order for there to be a Kurdistan, Turkey and Iran must give up part of their land. It ain't happening unless the Kurds take it by force. No Republican will ever be highly respected in Californistan. It's too far to the left and virtually insolvent due to too many slackers and moochers. Californistan is another subject in its entirety. Will never live there again. (Well living on board an aircraft carrier on Coronado Island isn't really living in Californistan. So technically haven't lived there the first time.) The bill isn't calling for an independent state merely officially recognizing the Kurds as someone the USA can officially do business with which must be done by Congress or the US govt cannot officially do business with them. Remember also we are going to put a base within their territory so Congress has to officially recognize them beyond being on the terrorist list. There are so many factors that many of you are not thinking about when it comes to this bill. Removal from terrorist list, offical government business and installation of a USA base to name several. This has nothing to do with the internal politics of Iraq or the Kurds. It is not divisive in any way. 2
