rissas dad
MP for SOL = lie. Lets hear this from Jafaari or Hakim or Sadr. The state of law is always first to come out with something, just to find out its a lie. Remember how many times we've seen this from them pre and post elections. Just wait and see. This is BS. Go ahead and stick with him state of law, you will get left behind. They already warned you the will break the National Alliance and form the new National Coalition. With 92 seats you cant form a government. You will have first chance alone, but you cant out-vote 236. Edited June 30, 2014 by rissas dad
Rochester
Maliki wants to drag out the selection of leadership. If Iraqi troops can do their job and make substantial headway on ISIS, the more that happens, the better he will look as leader, and the more likely it will be that Maliki retains his leadership position. So Maliki's leadership is being decided right now, on the battlefield, imo.

TrinityeXchange
Maliki's party won the election but they did not win the majority vote for PM. these articles are simply discussing who his party will promote but it does not equate who will become PM. There is a new alliance forming to create a majority and if successful they will select the new PM. Following up, this article is saying that Maliki's bloc got together and all the members who wanted to promote a different person for PM didn't put up a good enough argument. They argued points like dictatorship as reasons not to promote him but these points aren't good enough to reject him.
aaanth
BAGHDAD - Iraq Press -1 in July: It was the beginning of the meeting of leaders of the National Alliance in the house of Ibrahim al-Jaafari, on Monday evening, Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, on the last day of his second term, seemed to insist on Petrhha for the post of prime minister in the coming initially. Says a close one of the leaders of the coalition participating in the meeting, said that "the leader of the Supreme Council Ammar al-Hakim, and the Sadrist movement, such as Karrar al-Khafaji, objected strongly to put the name of al-Maliki." And apparently the latter was expected this rejection on the basis of predetermined positions announced by the Supreme Council and the Sadrists threw down, for the first time, an explicit alternative to his leadership in a state of law and director of his private office Tarek Najm. The source for / Iraq Press /, "The last was rejected by the parties, too, Shaking the meeting not to agree on a single candidate for the National Alliance to the presidency of the new government, especially since the Supreme Council and the Sadrists have candidates for the position as well." Nor any looming signs of an explicit agreement on a candidate before or during the convening of the first parliament session scheduled this Tuesday, the statement confirmed Jafari to "attend to discuss with the rest of the blocks to provide a figure acceptable to all parties to head the government." (that ain't maliki) The source adds, "The majority of the leaders of the state law entered into an urgent meeting at the home of al-Maliki, after the meeting broke home-Jaafari, in the presence of Nuri al-Maliki and Khalid al-Attiyah, and Haider al-Abadi and Tarek Najm and Rehab Alabboudh, where the Coalition decided to attend the parliament session to support the nomination, Salim al for the presidency of the parliament on be Hamoudi, a vice president for the Alliance and Mohsen al-Sadoun second deputy for the Kurds. " He continues by saying, the "there is no agreement on MPs seek the rule of law to the formation of the interim presidency of the parliament headed Jubouri includes Hamoudi Al-Saadoun and out of the impasse remains an open meeting, which is rejected by the Federal Court." The source, said that "the meeting may witness also named president of the republic that succeeded the Kurds in the settlement of their differences and put forward a candidate explicitly for the job", ruling out the possibility of naming a prime minister, especially after the intense controversy within the National Alliance to reject outright the owners (maliki and the alternative, (his stooge) which is the point of a major shift in attitude Head of the government.
