On Earth, growing and growing.

Al-Gharabi explained that "the independents were dispersed in the governorates, but at the present time they have an alliance and a declared political program, around which a number of independent political figures and emerging parties gather, as well as parties that preceded them with political work," noting that "a number of political personalities and projects want to work within this framework." The coalition, whose results are expected to be different from the 2021 elections.

Because of "money empires"... A civil organization expects two-thirds of voters in Diyala to turn away

Shafaq News/ The Diyala Organization for Human Rights, one of the most well-known organizations in the province concerned with elections, predicted, on Friday, a great reluctance to participate in the upcoming local elections due to the influence of "the empires of political money and electoral leadership."

According to surveys and surveys of the local street, more than 70% of the population in Diyala are reluctant to participate in the elections because of the influence of the financial and electoral empires in the province, and their dominance over the entire parliamentary and local electoral process, according to the director of the organization, Talib Hussein Al-Khazraji, who spoke to Shafaq News agency.

Al-Khazraji said, "The large and experienced forces began to involve their brothers and relatives in the upcoming local elections, to protect political money and hold the legislative authority, whether in Parliament or the governorate, and to protect interests in various ways," pointing out that "Diyala witnessed after the 2010 elections a large inflation of financial empires that are still dominate the political and electoral arena.

Al-Khazraji suggested that the percentage of electoral participation ranged between 15% tribal, 5% partisan, and 5% purchase of receivables by money and arms mafias," noting that "the weapon of buying receivables proved largely unsuccessful during the previous elections and caused many votes to be burned due to voting for more than one candidate from Before those whose receivables were bought and they received sums of money.”

Regarding the map of the next Diyala provincial council, between Shiites and Sunnis, al-Khazraji explained, "The matter is unknown and has not been decided yet, due to the inability of many electoral lists to reach the electoral threshold after the reduction of the provincial council and the approved electoral law."

The Diyala Council is scheduled to include 15 seats in the local council elections scheduled for December 18, after it had 29 seats during the electoral cycles between 2005 and 2019.

This is an old picture.  Maliki is too young looking and the people around him don’t look familiar.  This was when he was popular and dangerous.

IMHO of course.  He has no chance of grabbing too much power.  They all know what he did and didn’t do to the Iraqi people.

Report: Al-Maliki tests Al-Sadr by declaring separation from the coordination framework

Baghdad - Nas

The ambiguity of the position of the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, regarding his participation in the Iraqi local elections raises the concerns of the forces of the coordination framework, led by the leader of the State of Law Coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, who decided to run this contest with a single list away from political alliances, while the Victory Coalition led by Haider al-Abadi revealed the possibility of reviving his alliance with The Wisdom Movement, led by Ammar al-Hakim.

Although this decision reflects the depth of the disagreement between the main forces in the Coordinating Framework Coalition, their orientation towards the decision to secede remains temporary, pending the decision of the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, to push his movement to participate in the elections.

This alliance, in which the forces compete with each other to enhance their influence and impose themselves as the difficult figure in the existing equation in Iraq, was brought together by enmity towards al-Sadr and kept it united despite the existing rivalries between its parties.

Observers believe that al-Maliki's decision may be a test for al-Sadr to know his position on the participation of his movement in the elections, especially after the departure of his supporters in demonstrations condemning the burning of the Qur'an in Sweden, which revealed to al-Sadr that his movement is still an important player.

Al-Sadr's expected decision is of great importance to the forces of the coordination framework, which is not unlikely to overcome all their differences to block the way for his return to the political scene after they forced him to withdraw and withdraw into himself after his retirement from political work.

The High Elections Commission had opened the door for registration for alliances and political parties wishing to participate in the 2023 provincial elections, from the first of this July until the end of the same month.

Iraqi political forces ruled out, at an earlier time, the possibility that the Coordinating Framework Coalition, which is ruling in the country, would run in the local elections with one bloc, likely to be divided into three blocs (right, left, and moderation), despite the attempts made by leaders in the framework forces to reunite it, but it It did not produce results to bring the main forces closer together.

"The coalition decided to enter and participate in the provincial elections with a single electoral list, separate from the political and electoral alliances and coalitions that take place before the start of the election date," said Firas al-Maslamawi, a deputy in the State of Law coalition, in a statement carried by a local agency.

He pointed out the possibility that "movement will take place after holding the provincial council elections, announcing the results, and knowing the number of seats obtained by the political blocs and parties, to conduct dialogues to form alliances to elect governors and form local governments."

Local elections are held every ten years and include 15 governorates, with the exception of the Kurdistan region. The previous councils were dissolved in the fall of 2019 against the backdrop of unprecedented popular protests in the country, and one of the protesters' demands was to dissolve these councils, which they accused of corruption.

Provincial councils play a major role in forming local governments, and they are responsible for selecting the governor and his deputies and preparing the governorate budget in light of the financial allocations allocated by the central government to them, and these councils have the right to dismiss governors and heads of departments, and these councils are chosen based on the size of the demographics of each governorate .

For his part, Aqil al-Rudaini, spokesman for the Victory Coalition, said in a press statement that "there is a political movement, and the map of alliances has not been clearly clarified."

Al-Rudaini added, "The Victory Coalition conducted a field survey of the coalition's audience, and it was found that the masses are calling on the coalition to participate in the elections individually and with a list independent of the alliances, and that the issue is under study and has not yet been resolved."

He pointed out that "the Victory Coalition had previously allied with the Wisdom Movement under the name of the Civil Forces Alliance."

Al-Rudaini explained, "This alliance is still ongoing and has not ended yet, and there are attempts to restore this alliance and revive it to participate in the provincial elections."

He explained, "The Victory Coalition is currently focusing on holding elections on the scheduled date of December 18, given that the meeting of the Board of Commissioners in the High Electoral Commission ends on January 7."

Al-Rudaini indicated, "There is work currently underway with the political forces and the representative of the United Nations to go towards extending the members of the Council of Commissioners by voting on them in the House of Representatives or going to change them before the election date."

The House of Representatives had voted earlier on amendments to the electoral law, and these amendments included a return to the (St. Lego) system and making the governorate one electoral district.

The coordination framework was formed after the legislative elections and included many Shiite forces and militias loyal to Iran. .

The Coordination Framework Coalition included the "State of Law" coalition forces led by Nuri al-Maliki, the "Fatah" coalition led by Hadi al-Amiri, the "State Forces" coalition led by Ammar al-Hakim, the Ataa blocs, the Rights movement, the Virtue Party, and others.

Confirming what was unique to Shafaq News.. Al-Maliki's coalition: "Iranian pressures" for a unified Shiite electoral list

1675017539989.jpg
2023-07-15 03:33

Shafaq News/ The State of Law Coalition, led by Nuri al-Maliki revealed today, Saturday, that there are "Iranian pressures" for Shiite political forces to run the provincial council elections with one electoral list.

The leader of the coalition, Rasool Radi Abu Hasna, told Shafaq News agency, "The Coordinating Framework Forces will run in the provincial council elections with more than one electoral list, and the State of Law Coalition has decided its position by running in the elections alone without any alliance."

And Abu Hasna stated that "the forces of the coordination framework have not yet resolved the issue of electoral alliances to run in the provincial council elections, as the dialogues are continuing, and there is pressure on the coordination framework in order to run in the provincial council elections with one electoral list, and this pressure is internal and external."

He also stressed that "the Iranian desire is pushing for the Shiites to run in the provincial council elections with one electoral list, but there is a rejection of this approach, as the framework blocs and parties believe that this matter is not in their interest."

An official source in the coordination framework revealed to Shafaq News agency that leaders in the framework held meetings with prominent Iranian personalities in Tehran, to discuss future electoral alliances for the forces of the coordination framework before running for the Iraqi provincial and district council elections.

He said, "The leaders in the framework are (Qais Khazali, Hadi Al-Amiri, Faleh Al-Fayyad) who held several meetings in the Iranian capital, Tehran, with prominent personalities who witnessed the electoral alliances discussing the forces of the coordination framework to run in the provincial elections."

The source added, "These meetings came after the recent differences over the formation of electoral alliances," noting that "Khazali, Al-Amiri and Al-Fayyad returned to the capital, Baghdad, without reaching a final agreement on forming a large electoral alliance that includes all parties to the framework and the armed factions, especially since the Iranian desire was push in that direction."

There is a movement of political changes that are likely to affect the distribution of the electoral map in the upcoming competition for provincial council seats, after the expansion of "cracks" within the coordination framework as a whole and in some of its blocs as well, which heralds an "unusual surprise."

Some leaders within the coordination framework did not hide their grumbling about the coalition leader Nuri al-Maliki's "insistence" on "unifying the decision" and it is likely that they will leave at the earliest opportunity to run in the provincial elections on their own or join an alliance led by Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani or others.

Finally, the representative of the Sadikoun Bloc, Ali Turki al-Jamali, announced his withdrawal from the Sadikoun Parliamentary Bloc, the political wing of the League of the Righteous Movement and the Coordinating Framework, as a result of the recent dispute with the State of Law Coalition and its leader, Nuri al-Maliki, while he indicated that he would remain a follower of government corruption and the evidence and its referral to the competent courts.

Al-Jamali attacked the leader of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, in televised statements, accusing his era as prime minister of causing the fall of "a third of Iraq" in the hands of ISIS and that it represented a stage of corruption, while social networking sites witnessed mutual reactions between the republicans of the two parties, as well as between the deputy himself and a member of the State of Law coalition. who defended al-Maliki.

The political blocs are preparing to participate in the provincial elections scheduled for the 18th of next December, and while observers expect the blocs affiliated with the coordination framework to get the lion's share, they suggested boycotting some of the emerging lists to make sure that they will not achieve what they aspire to.

Deputy for Law: The framework is too big to be a temporary electoral bloc

{Politics: Al-Furat News} The representative of the State of Law, Firas Al-Maslamawi, considered the coordination framework "larger" than being a temporary electoral bloc.

Al-Muslimawi said; For the program {Without Accusation} broadcast by Al-Furat Al-Dafiya TV channel this evening, Saturday, that: “The coordination framework is greater than being a temporary electoral bloc or an electoral coalition that ends with division,” adding, “We have two options regarding the elections, either to boycott and accept what is happening or to participate in changing the service reality in the provinces.” ".

He added, "The alliances will be based on the amendment in the election law, and the electoral alliances are supposed to be consistent with the electoral law," stressing "the continuation of the dialogues in order to form electoral alliances."

And between Maslamawi, "there is a thesis that the framework forces enter the elections with one bloc," expecting that "the file of the provinces will be managed in a new way by the coordination framework."

He pointed out, "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani's position not to participate in the upcoming elections is a remarkable step, and his priority today is the success of the government program."

Al-Maslamawi added, "The resignation of the head of the Electoral Commission is a kind of change, and the resignation of the members of the media network came because they were not held accountable," pointing out that "the polling stations will be monitored through cameras in the upcoming elections, and Al-Sudani asked the governors to provide leave in preparation for the elections."

Angry Sadrists close headquarters of the Dawa Party in the central and southern regions of Iraq (photos + video)

1689482378868.jpg
2023-07-16 00:42

Shafaq News/ Supporters of the Sadrist movement closed the headquarters of the Islamic Dawa Party in the central and southern regions of Iraq, as an expression of their protest against what they called the "insult" directed by that party to their late reference, Ayatollah Muhammad Muhammad Sadiq al-Sadr.

Since yesterday evening until Sunday morning, the supporters of the movement proceeded to storm some of the party's headquarters, or content themselves with writing anti-Da'wah phrases on the external walls of those headquarters, while destroying and vandalizing pictures of the party's symbols.

This angry reaction from the Sadrists came after the leader of the movement, Hassan Al-Athari, stated in his blog on social networking sites, which he published yesterday, Saturday, in which he accused the Islamic Dawa Party, led by its Secretary-General and the head of the State of Law Coalition, of insulting the reputation and biography of the reference, Muhammad Muhammad Sadiq al-Sadr, and that he " related to Saddam Hussein's regime.

In turn, the Islamic Dawa Party denied Al-Athari's statements in a statement in which it stated that "recently, yellow papers and letters have spread claiming that pages are affiliated with Secretary-General Nuri al-Maliki, or affiliated with the flags of the State of Law, and that they offend the great references, and the truth is that there are no pages adopted from Before al-Maliki or the state of law publishes such abuses.

The statement added, "What is published in this context does not go beyond allegations and falsifications that want to create discord between brothers, and we clearly show that all our pages, platforms, media sites, and news centers are committed to journalistic ethics and publishing laws, and it is not our kinetic approach to offend anyone or publish what calls for hatred and hostility." ".

The Dawa Party and the State of Law Coalition led by al-Maliki are considered the traditional rivals of the Sadrist movement led by the Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, and political relations between the two sides have witnessed ebbs and flows since the security operation "Sultat al-Fursan" in Basra Governorate, which targeted the "Mahdi Army", the frozen military wing of the Sadrist movement in 2008 until now.

Both leaders al-Maliki and al-Sadr did not hesitate to attack each other in interviews and interviews with the media.

The Sadrists accuse Nuri al-Maliki of disappearing hundreds of billions of dollars from the treasury of the Iraqi state as a result of the financial and administrative corruption witnessed during his rule over Iraq for two consecutive terms, in addition to the fall of the city of Mosul and areas estimated at two-thirds of the country in mid-2014 at the hands of ISIS.

Shafaq News/ The Islamic Dawa Party, led by Nuri al-Maliki, warned on Sunday of a "blind sedition" that strikes "people of the same square," as described in a statement issued by the party in response to the targeting of its headquarters by the Sadrist movement.

He mentioned the invitation in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency. "The Islamic Dawa Party warns of blind strife at this difficult stage in which our people are eagerly and hopefully looking forward to the continuation of security and stability in the country, after being exhausted by conflicts and disagreements. Striking the people of the same arena by pitting some against the other is the goal of the enemies who are waiting for opportunities for the sake of Finish off all active and benevolent forces in society.

added; "We, based on our legal, political, patriotic, and faith-based responsibilities, call upon everyone to abort the plots of sedition with greater vigilance, wisdom, and concern for blood and lives, and this is what we pledge to all loyal forces."

continued; “The two great Marja’ al-Sadr and the martyrs - may God Almighty be pleased with them both - are a bright page in the history of this nation and the homeland with their knowledge, their stances, their jihad and their sacrifices, and they draw from a single source and have a common goal. Its forefront is the criminal Baath regime. The party expressed its astonishment, "most astonishing at the accusation of the call for insulting the great reference, the martyr al-Sadr II - may his soul be sanctified - even though it is known to everyone and what is documented about the position of the Islamic Dawa Party in support of the martyr al-Sadr II before and after 2003."

Al-Maliki's party denounced "the infringement of his honorable person (Muhammad Muhammad Sadiq al-Sadr) by anyone, as he is a reference and a martyr for whom we have all the veneration and respect, and we also condemn the campaign of attacks and burning of the offices of the Islamic Dawa Party."

The statement called, "the House of Representatives to legislate a law that refuses to prejudice religious references, the great martyrs and the living, in line with the constitution, and we hope that all blocs will support this legislative approach in the parliament."

And he stressed that "ending sedition is a legal, political and national duty, and everyone must strive to remove all ambiguity in a position or opinion before it turns into a fire that burns the country and the people. So as long as we called for dialogue and extended our hands to all partners and brothers."

He noted that "dispute or political competition should not turn into battles involving noble names, which are higher than that. The stage requires the partners in the destiny and the homeland and the followers of the supreme reference to deal with high responsibility with the events."

And supporters of the Sadrist movement, earlier on Sunday, closed the headquarters of the Islamic Dawa Party in the central and southern regions of Iraq, as an expression of their protest against what they called "insult" directed by that party to their late reference, Ayatollah Muhammad Muhammad Sadiq al-Sadr.

Shafaq News/ Saleh al-Iraqi, who is close to the leader of the Sadrist movement, thanked the Dawa Party for proposing to enact a law that criminalizes insulting religious scholars, while he described the Al-Bashir movement loyal to Maliki's coalition as "social media militias".

Al-Iraqi mentioned in a statement received by Shafaq News agency; "I saw the statement of the brothers in the (Da'wa Party) away from the orientations of their elders and away from the militias of social networking sites such as the (Bashir al-Shar') movement.

Thank you for responding to our demand to enact a law that criminalizes unjustly assaulting scholars.”

continued; "At the same time, I affirm that the beloved brothers in the Sadrist movement are still loyal to their reference, the second martyr al-Sadr, and even the first martyr, their pure soul sanctified.. and they did not and will not do anything except after reviewing the Hawza."

He pointed out that "what happened yesterday is a spontaneous, emotional, chest movement, rather it is revolutionary to stop the encroachment on scholars after their defense of the Qur'an and renunciation of immorality, hoping that they will give the opportunity to those who remain among the faithful in the Dawa party and those with them in their alliance who claim to love religion and sect and martyrs." The al-Sadr family enacted this law under the dome of Parliament in defense of religion and sect.

And if they do not do that, then that is bad and abominable.”

Shafaq News/ The head of the State of Law Coalition, Nuri al-Maliki warned, on Sunday, the Sadrist movement of "enemies' plans and attempts to shuffle the cards", after a series of "attacks" that targeted the headquarters of the Islamic Dawa Party in central and southern Iraq.

Al-Maliki said in a statement received by Shafaq News agency, commenting on the "allegations of insulting" Ayatollah Muhammad Sadiq al-Sadr, and the "attacks" that targeted the headquarters of the Islamic Dawa Party yesterday, "It is strange to hear a claim from some brothers from the Sadrist movement, especially some of their leaders, accusing the party of The Islamic Call and the State of Law Coalition insult Mr. Muhammad Sadiq al-Sadr, despite the assurances of the party and its Secretary-General to denounce and reject all practices that offend the two martyrs al-Sadr and all the great references.

Al-Maliki added, "We have to ask some questions and say who stood and supported the martyr al-Sadr movement outside and inside Iraq? And who supported the brotherhood movement in the Sadrist movement after al-Sadr's martyrdom in Syria and Iran?"

The head of the State of Law Coalition indicated that "the accusation against the Dawa Party and its preachers of insulting the martyr al-Sadr and the attacks that followed yesterday on the headquarters of the Dawa Party are unfortunate practices that warmed the hearts of the enemies of Iraq and the enemies of the Sadrist school, and that these actions will not be in the interest of the people of Iraq and the sons of the one sect."
