The meeting next Wednesday with Iran and the six major powers - China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States - comes as US President Donald Trump is considering a possible withdrawal from the historic 2015 agreement. EU Foreign Minister Federica Mugherini will chair the talks on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, diplomats said. Iranian President Hassan Rowhani is expected to address the fate of the accord in his speech Wednesday at the United Nations, a day after Trump delivered his first address to the 193-nation assembly. On Thursday, Washington announced new sanctions against Iran targeting 11 entities and individuals supporting the Revolutionary Guards or involved in information attacks on the US financial system. Trump is scheduled to decide on October 15 whether Iran has broken the 2015 nuclear deal and its opponents fear it could abandon an agreement it believes is preventing Tehran from making a nuclear bomb. Under the nuclear deal, Iran handed over a lot of enriched uranium, dismantled a reactor and opened nuclear facilities to UN inspectors in exchange for the United States and Europe lifting some of the sanctions imposed on it. During a visit to Washington in July, Zarif complained that he had to re-discuss the agreement with Tilerson and that the administration was sending "contradictory signals" about the fate of the deal. Iran "not going to be in charge" in post-IS situation in Syria, Iraq - Haley 16/09/2017 | LOC00:21 21:21 GMT | Arab News WASHINGTON, Sept 15 (KUNA) -- While US efforts in Syria and Iraq against the so-called Islamic State (IS) have been "remarkable," US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley on Friday predicted that Iran "is not going to be in charge" in a post-IS situation there. "To see how we have really bulldozed through ISIS in the way that we have shown how strong the US has been in partnership with them (US allies in Syria and Iraq)," Haley said, referring to IS. "But I think we're also looking at post-ISIS. What does that look like? And I can tell you, Iran is not going to be in charge, and Iran is not going to have any sort of leadership in that situation to where they can do more harm." Syria is "always going to be a topic," she said during a briefing at the White House to preview the US agenda at the UN General Assembly next week in New York City. "I think we continue to be strong in making sure there's no chemical weapons and making sure that we're looking at the humanitarian situation. But the US is a very strong partner in the resolution for Syria and will continue to be until we know that everything's stable." "I think we're not going to be satisfied until we see a solid and stable Syria, and that is not with Assad in place," she said, referring to Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad. "But what we are going to do is continue to be very effective and be a part of that process so that we get to a resolution." LINK

Currently iraq is under IMF article 14. But at the same time, Iraq need to be out of UN Chapter 7, completely, by 'settling' the remaining compensation file to kuwait ( amounting to about 5 billions dollar).
