tigergorzow
Iraqi Parliament Expected to Vote on New Government Today Basnews English 01/03/2020 - 10:42 Published in Iraq ERBIL — The parliament of Iraq is set to hold an extraordinary session today to vote on the new government. The session was initially scheduled for last Thursday, but the parliament postponed it to Saturday for lack of quorum. Later, the session was once again put off at the request of Prime Minister-designate Mohammed Allawi, apparently to buy time for a political consensus over the proposed cabinet. Kurds, Sunnis, and part of the Shia factions are opposing Allawi’s cabinet so far, believing that he has violated the principles of political partnership and balance between the main components of the country under the pretext of “an independent government”. According to the Iraqi constitution, Sunday, 1st March, is the deadline for Allawi to secure a majority vote of confidence at the parliament. If he fails to do so, the Iraqi president is required to make a new nomination to form the government within 15 days only. http://www.basnews.com/index.php/en/news/iraq/585435 3

tigergorzow
Baghdad Post Sunday, 01 March 2020 02:53 PM Allawi failed to win the confidence of Parliament, a double blow to Sadr and Iran Data in Baghdad indicate that the "Saeroon" bloc, which is sponsored by Muqtada al-Sadr, is the only party that remains committed to appointing Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi to form the new government, to succeed the resigned headed by Adel Abdul-Mahdi. And the Sadrists' efforts to push the parliament to convene on Thursday failed to vote to give confidence to Allawi, his cabinet, and his government program, which led them to postpone the session until Saturday. And it seemed that the level of confidence declined with the taxpayer himself, who found that overcoming the obstacles preventing the passage of his government was impossible in this hurry, so he requested to postpone the date of the voting session until Sunday, in a desperate attempt to persuade the various parties to support it. However, Sadr's political actors do not want to admit that their idea of their power and influence does not match reality. The Sadrists have 54 seats in parliament, and they are actually the largest bloc, but they move within a parliament of 329 seats, which means that their political influence will remain limited, if they decide to work alone, as happened with Allawi. Al-Sadr had threatened, before Thursday's session, that he would ask his supporters to surround parliament and the green zone in which it is located, if the Allawi government did not pass. But the session did not take place Thursday, and the Allawi government was not voted on, which was described as a great blow to Sadr. Representative Faik Sheikh Ali says that he asked several deputies why they did not attend the session of the granting of confidence on Thursday, which caused the quorum not being completed. They said that they did this in the chest, not to hate Allawi. Ahead of the Thursday session, Sadr appeared in a televised dialogue, to reduce the value of the influence of any political stance that is not consistent with the stance of his current movement, while observers criticized him for his arrogant tone of speech. Al- Sadr may be lacking his political balance since the killing of the commander of the Quds Force in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Qassem Soleimani, and the deputy head of the PMF, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, in a US raid near Baghdad airport early this year. As for al-Sadr , the Iraqi arena is empty to impose its hegemony over it and to fill the void left by the killing of Soleimani and the engineer with Iranian blessing. But all the tests that Sadr recently went through ended in failure, damaging the public image of his popular movement and political bloc. When Sadr received Iranian orders to turn against the popular demonstrations, following Soleimani's death, he believed that the protest grounds would be vacated as soon as he requested it. While what happened is that the demonstrations courts some of them, while university students and middle schools step in to fill the shortfall left by the Sadrists ’withdrawal from the demonstrations, until it was said that the protest movement became more severe after the Sadrists left, which gave it greater political independence from any party participating in Parliament or the government. Sadr’s disappointment was repeated when he launched a campaign he led himself to accuse the demonstrators of being deviant, and that the squares turned into prostitution for drugs and prostitution, calling for preventing mixing between the sexes, after he considered that the presence of women in this type of gathering harms them. Instead of being affected by these accusations, activists organized feminist demonstrations, especially in Baghdad and the provinces, to challenge al-Sadr, while activists from their colleagues led to mass demonstrations to demonstrate the leadership role women play. And the latest disappointment came from members of the House of Representatives who did not give the threats of Sadr any value, and boycotted the session on voting for Allawi and his cabinet. It seems that Sadr’s disappointments persist, despite his insistence on Allawi, but the Shi’ite, Sunni and Kurdish political forces have already begun to study the biography of a number of personalities, to choose among them a new candidate for the position of Prime Minister, while the Prime Minister-designate Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi has come forward. With a request to the parliament presidency to postpone the session devoted to voting on his cabinet that was scheduled for Saturday to Sunday, confirming that his chances have largely disappeared. According to calculations previously announced, the thirty-day deadline for the prime minister-designate ended on Saturday, but the latter, supported by the Sadrist bloc, says it ends on Sunday. Although Parliament did not respond to Allawi's request, the convening of the session is not an important matter in itself, but rather what will take place in it. Late Friday, the Presidency of the House of Representatives distributed to journalists a notice of the existence of an extraordinary session to give confidence to the government on Saturday, but did not specify its hour, and told reporters that it would inform them of the developments. Informed sources say that Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi may invest Sadrist confusion as well as Allawi's confidence has declinedHis cabin can pass, leaving his two deputies to debate the timing of the supposed session to give the government confidence. tigergorzow
Baghdad Post Sunday, 01 March 2020 03:32 PM Deputy: The country will go to the unknown in the event that the Allawi government is not passed On Sunday, the MP from the Alliance of Abbas Alawi said that the Sunni and Kurdish political blocs did not agree to support the government of Prime Minister Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi as a risk in the political situation, while not passing Allawi’s government today would lead the country into the unknown. Aliwi said in a statement to him, "The political blocs have to be aware of the seriousness of the political situation and the lack of consent of the street," noting that "the failure to pass on the Allawi government today is a great risk to the current political situation and will lead the country into the unknown." He added that "Sunni and Kurdish political blocs will risk the political situation if they refuse to pass the Allawi government during today's session," noting that "Allawi will head a transitional government and there is no necessity to divide ministerial portfolios or demand electoral merit because the government will work to prepare the atmosphere for early elections only." The deputy of the Alliance of Raiders Riyad Al-Masoudi confirmed today, Sunday, that the negotiations of the last hours have not revealed their contents until now, noting that the representatives of the Kurdistan Alliance, the Alliance of Forces and the rule of law are awaiting the final decision of the leaders of their blocs, while the session is likely to be extended for several hours https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/190865/نائب-البلاد-ستذهب-للمجهول-في-حال-عدم-تمرير-حكومة-علاوي 1

coorslite21
1 Mar 2020 | 04:35 PM Iraq parliament postpones confidence vote over Allawi gov't again Iraqi parliament postpones its emergency session to vote on Iraqi PM-designated Allawi’s cabinet for one and half an hour and will resume the session at 6:00 pm, as the quorum is still less than its legal framework. Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi said that the crunch vote, which had already been delayed last week for lack of a quorum, would now be held on Sunday. Midnight Sunday is the deadline for lawmakers to end the political vacuum and agree on a new government or see President Barham Salih designate a premier unilaterally. Failure to go ahead with the vote could also trigger a call for mass protests from cleric Moqtada Sadr, whose supporters form the largest bloc in parliament and who has demanded that lawmakers approve Allawi's government. Allawi is struggling to secure support from the country's Sunnis and Kurds. Iraq has been without a government since Allawi's predecessor Adel Abdel Mahdi quit under pressure from the street two months ago. Demonstrators have already rejected the choice of Allawi for premier, saying he is too close to the confessional political system they have rallied against for months. I gotta be honest, I’ve had a hard time keeping my hope up for the DInar to Revalue. The reality is nothing this powerful will come to us easy. People who someday say you’re lucky that your wealthy will have nooooo Idea how long many of us have waited, questioning our own sanity and judgement, hoping we were right. There is nothing lucky about being a Dinar Holder. It has created mental fortitude and patience that I never dreamed possible for myself. I do share your sentiment that we’re close, mainly because of the state of the world affairs. We are standing at the edge of a financial abyss and I believe that the Dinar, along with precious metals and cryptos will be the PTB way to get themselves out of it. I believe Trump was hand picked for the job of essentially bankrupting the Fed and bringing back sound money policies to level the playing field and bring in a new financial system. tigergorzow
Sunday, 01 March 2020 06:07 PM The Islamic Group: Allawi's program touched upon the differences in Baghdad and Erbil with one line! Salim Shushki, head of the Kurdistan Islamic Group, said: "The political blocs are still incompatible with passing the government of Muhammad Tawfiq Allawi according to the mechanism he wants and invited by certain parliamentary blocs," saying that exclusivity in political action and decision-making is unsuccessful. Shushki said in a press statement: "There are fears of forming the current government and the future of the political process because of the marginalization of political parties by the Prime Minister-designate," stressing: "The negotiations are still ongoing between the political parties." The Kurdish MP added: "The Kurdish delegation reached before the meeting last Thursday an agreement with the Prime Minister-designate to commit to paying salaries to the employees of the region, launching the dues of farmers in Kurdistan, applying Article (140), and removing the security forces from inside the cities." He explained: "One of the things objected to in the government program is its discussion of the problem between the region and the federal government with one line, without going into details, which gives a picture to us that he is not interested in solving these problems and disputes." https://www.thebaghdadpost.com/ar/Story/190875/الجماعة-الاسلامية-برنامج-علاوي-تطرق-لخلافات-بغداد-واربيل-بسطر-واحد
