I'm probably all out of whack here, but it looks like to me that Moon is saying that Iraq has met their obligations to Kuwait but the Kawaitis still feel like they could find more of their missing and more of their property and are asking for an extension until June or July 2012 before releasing them from chapter 7....It is so hard for me to read and understand the way they put things..If this is not what they are saying, could or would someone else provide what this piece means...thankyou for the post

Just my take on this, but I think it says that since they are extending the EFFORT to find the missing Kuwait people and have shown their commitment to find them and are extending the FUNDING for the project, and because they have demonstrated so much effort and commitment to find them, they can still get released from Chapter 7 now.. After all, since they have been missing for so long, there is no guarantee they will ever be found!

Exactly my take on this as well. Ban sent a letter to the Kuwaiti officials explaining this and have requested that they reply on the 15th with their thoughts on the matter. Ch 7 should be finalized soon.

Please correct me if I'm wrong: Until Iraq is out of chapter 7, the UN sanctions that are still in place prevents Iraq from possessing certain critical weapons required to defend their country. How can our troops be pulling out at this critical stage of development and risk throwing 10 years out the window leaving them like sitting ducks?

All the so called news is so contradicting I honestly am numb to it all. In my opinion the key to any Currency Change lie's with-in Chapter 7 release and International status. Once Internationally traded transparency laws will show the true value even with the 30 trillion printed Dinars and I guarantee it not .0009."Time as usual will tell !!" ;)

My opinion is that they're working to release Iraq from chapter 7 conditionally, so they can defend themselves and continue with progress, the six months extention is for Iraq to take care of remaining issues including financial, but this is just my opinion.

This is not an extention of Chapter 7 but and extention of the " UN Security Council mandate for the Coordinator until June 30 in 2012". It is an extention of the UN's mission in Iraq, possibly to insure that after they are released from Chapter 7, they will continue to work with Kuwait on the remaining issues.
