Cancer causing foods smuggled into Mosul, says MP

Cancerous foods sweeps Iraq

Large amounts of carcinogenic food have been smuggled into Mosul amid escalating levels of cancer injuries, MP for Nineveh, Salem al-Shobaky, told The Baghdad Post on Thursday.

In a statement, al-Shobaky said, "Some parties who work against the interests of the Iraqi people have smuggled cancer causing foods into the city of Mosul".

Medical sources said that most of the families in Mosul had been hit by cancer recently.

They added tests on the food items prove they contained chemicals related to cancer.

Shobaky said the deteriorating security situation in Mosul had thwarted access to medicines in the affected areas.

Thousands of Iraqis are still caught in crossfire in the ISIS-held areas in the city's right bank. They suffer a severe lack in food, water and medicines.

Shobaky indicated some areas in the newly-liberated left bank also suffer the same crises.

An offensive started on February 19 to retake Mosul's right bank from ISIS terrorists.

The offensive, code-named 'We are coming, Nineveh', could liberate most of areas in the right bank. However, thousands of civilians were reported killed, injured or displaced.

Iraqi Counter Terrorism Service (CTS) on Thursday made advances towards 'Grand Nouri' Mosque in old City of Mosul among severe clashes with ISIS terrorist group.

ISIS is trying to to tighten its grip on the landmark Mosque in which ISIS leader Ibrahim al-Samarrai, also known as Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, appeared in June 2014 after the terrorist group captured the city.

In a statement on Thursday, Commander of Iraqi Fedral police LT. Gen Raed Shkir Gawdat said that Iraqi troops cordoned off the Mosque surrounding area to prevent any potential support for the terrorists.

The police forces recaptured Qadheeb al-Ban district and a sport stadium in the western wing of Mosul city, he added.

The operations are part of a massive offensive launched by Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi on February 19 to take control of the western side of the embattled city of Mosul which has been under the control of ISIS since June 2014.

ISIS kills three civilians in Mosul's right bank

ISIS terrorists have killed three civilians in Mosul's right bank, security sources told The Baghdad Post.

The victims were killed for attempting to flee the ISIS-held Abar (Wells) district to neighborhoods recaptured by the governmental forces, the sources said.

The Iraqi army, supported by the International Coalition airstrikes, have so far liberated most of the right bank.

However, the rules of engagement adopted by the forces were heavily slammed by lawmakers and human rights activists for not taking the lives of civilians into consideration.

Mosul, Iraq's second largest city, fell to ISIS in June, 2014 after the Iraqi forces had mysteriously withdrawn the battle fields.

The terror group has committed a series of atrocities against civilians including mass executions and abduction of women.

On Wednesday, Commander of 'We are coming, Nineveh' offensive to retake Mosul's right bank, Lt Gen. Abdul Amir Rashid al-Yarallah announced 1000 ISIS terrorists had been killed since the start of the operations on February 19th.

Mosul residents pleading for help due to random bombing

Residents of densely-populated Mosul's  right bank are pleading for help due to random shelling over their houses and the killing of tens of defenseless civilians, eyewitnesses told The Baghdad Post.

Dozens were buried under the rubble as the shelling targeted houses of civilians, they added, noting that some of them starved to death.

Random shelling by the Iraqi forces and US-led Coalition on three buildings on March 17, followed by other airstrikes four days later, has left hundreds of casualties in Mosul Jadedah neighborhood in western the right bank of Mosul.

The intelligence sources said Iran's spies within the Joint Operations Command had provided misleading information that led to the killing of hundreds of innocents.

The Shiite country is waging a psychological warfare in Mosul to show the U.S. as an aggressor not a liberator, they added.

Image1_3201730145624719273191.png
They also affirmed the Mullah regime had provided ISIS terror group with shoulder-fired missiles to attack the U.S.-led coalition forces.

The Iranian plot mainly targeted the Sunni areas in Mosul, they added, stressing Tehran aims to exclude the U.S. from the Sunni areas and incite residents against them.

Tehran is widely accused of fanning sectarianism in the Middle East and supporting terror militias all over the Arab world.

It also has strong ties with ISIS and other extremist groups. It had harbored large number of al-Qaeda jihadist group senior figures after the September 11 terror attack against the U.S.

Up to 100 bodies 'still buried under rubble' in Mosul

March 30 2017 11:47 PM
More bodies still under rubble after botched raid
More bodies still under rubble after botched raid

Mostapha Hassan

Over 100 bodies of the civilians killed in a botched raid carried by the US coalition on March 24th are still buried under the rubble, local sources said on Thursday evening.

The raid was carried out on areas in the right bank of Mosul and left hundreds of civilians killed.

Recently released information asserts that about 100 bodies of civilians are still hidden under the rubble in Rajm a-Hadid neighborhood, the sources added.

Police and army forces bar journalists and aid workers  from getting to the scene of the raid in fear of exposing the real figures of casualties.

The air raid was conducted to take out an ISIS terrorist. But hundreds of civilians have been killed.

The Mosul district council called for an immediate halt of airstrikes in the city’s west and to declare it a “disaster zone' after over 500 citizens had been killed in deadly air raids.

Tallies released by  the  Iraqi Observatory for Human Rights put the death toll at 500.

A leaked audio recording of a closed-door meeting held a few hours ago by the Iraqi vice president Osama al-Nujaifi with several politicians revealed that the real toll from the strike is 550 civilians. Many of them are women and children.

According to this leak, the senior officials spoke about more than 2000 people buried under the rubble.

The Pentagon last Friday acknowledged that the U.S.-led coalition fighting ISIS terrorists carried out an airstrike in a western Mosul neighborhood and that it is "looking into" reports that the bombing left more than 100 civilians dead.

Iraqi forces advance on Mosul's Great Mosque of al-Nuri

Federal police commander

Commander of Federal Police Units Gen. Raid Shaker Jawdat said Thursday the forces said Thursday three wings have been opened for the forces to advance on Great Mosque of al-Nuri  in the right bank of Mosul.

The Rapid Response Forces and the Federal Police Units are tightening the noose around the terrorists of ISIS in the areas located in the vicinity of Great Mosque of al-Nuri, he added in a statement.

The military official yet stated that ISIS terrorists are losing their supply routes and there is confusion hitting the ranks of its elements.

It is noteworthy that al-Hadbaa lighthouse Nuri is located within the historic mosque where ISIS leader Baghdadi preached the terrorist when they took control of the city of Mosul in 2014.

The second to the last article opens, "More bodies still under rubble after botched raid. Over 100 bodies of the civilians killed in a botched raid carried by the US coalition on March 24th are still buried under the rubble, local sources said on Thursday evening."

Something that just dawned on me is since ISIS is using civilians as human shields, could there have been verifiable evidence that there was an extremely high value target amongst the civilians with an extremely narrow window of opportunity to neutralize? If so, who was this person if the intel was correct? Will this person or persons be dug up as the recovery of bodies continues? We may or may not know. We may even see articles stating, "XXXXXXXX (high value target(s)) perishes due to helicopter crash during training exercise in YYYYYYY (remaining held ISIS training area)."

Just thinking out loud. I hate to see civilians loose their lives especially by mistakes.

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) A video released by the Iraqi Federal Police service purports to show an Islamic State militant in Mosul forcing an Iraqi child to stand as a human shield during encounters with security forces.

On its facebook page, the Federal Police command explained that the video, apparently filmed through a combat equipment, was shot during fights with IS members in central Mosul’s Old City district.

Iraqi forces, backed by a U.S.-led international coalition, recaptured eastern Mosul in January after three months of fighting to retake the city that fell to Islamic State extremists in 2014. The government launched a new offensive in February to retake the city’s western side.

Police and supporting forces said recently they became closer to the Old City’s Nuri al-Kabir mosque, where IS supreme leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi declared the establishment of the group’s rule in Iraq and Syria. They had earlier recaptured the city’s airport and biggest military base besides several other districts since the launch of the campaign. The army’s leadership said recently government troops became in control over 50 percent of the region.

The United Nations, Iraqi generals and aid groups have accused IS of using civilians as human shields. Iraqi commanders said the practice was behind recent casualties in western Mosul blamed on coalition airstrikes,

Officer: troops ordered to avoid heavy weaponry in Mosul to avoid civilian deaths

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi troops have been directed to avoid using heavy weaponry in battles with Islamic State militants in western Mosul as dozens of civilian casualties had sparked an international uproar.

The Joint Operations Command had received directives from the Armed Forces leadership to not to use heavy weapons and smart guns in operations to recapture the remaining parts of western Mosul, DPA quoted a senior Iraqi officer saying.

Mohamed al-Jubouri, a brigadier-general from the JOC, said the command forwarded the instructions to troops on field, including the Federal Police and the Rapid Response forces, urging to avoid using heavy weapons in bombarding IS havens so as to prevent more civilian casualties.

He said that while IS continue to use civilians as human shields, large numbers of militants flee battlefronts to outside Mosul.

The Pentagon has recently said it was going to investigate reports saying that at least 240 civilians died when fighter jets from the U.S.-led international coalition bombarded IS locations in a western Mosul district on March 17th. Its officials, however, said it was difficult to avoid civilian deaths and stressed that combat strategies were not going to be changed.

The JOC, which has been leading battles against IS in Mosul since October, has said it found no evidence that civilians died due to airstrikes, and accused IS of fabricating such allegations to defame the security campaign and detonating civilians’ homes to push back security troops.

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Number of children who were recruited by the Islamic State fighters in Mosul have exceeded 18,000, according to a senior security source. Many of them resorted to refugee camps with their families.

Speaking to Al-Ghad Press on Thursday, the source said that IS recruited more than 18,000 children below the age of 18 years old through mobilization of the school students.

Security troops obtained the full names of those recruited by IS, he said, adding that university students were forcibly divided among different specializations that serve IS purposes in Mosul.

“The security committee in charge of reviewing the situation in Mosul revealed that thousands of recruited children are there among displaced families,” he said indicating follow up on them to seeking rehabilitation in coordination with religious endowments and education ministries.

IS recruits children to carry out terrorist and suicide attacks.

Iraqi Observatory for Human Rights reported earlier this week that 197 children have been taken hostage by the IS militants near al-Nouri Grand Mosque in west Mosul where the Iraqi troops have closed in on the militant group.

Mosul is the Islamic State’s strongest stronghold in Iraq. Eastern Mosul was recaptured from IS in January, after a US-backed offensive was launched in October. A new offensive started in February to retake the west.
