Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Commander of We Are Coming, Nineveh Operations Command, Lieutenant General Abdel Amir Yarallah, has declared liberating Qadib al-Ban district, located west of Mosul, Shafaq News reported.

Federal Police and Rapid Response Forces, according to Yarallah, freed the district from IS and raised the Iraqi flag above the buildings.

Iraqi troops are now making their way toward al-Zangeli neighborhood.

Mosul is the Islamic State’s strongest stronghold in Iraq. Eastern Mosul was recaptured from IS in January, after a US-backed offensive was launched in October. A new offensive started in February to retake the west.

Battles in the west are believed to be much more difficult due to the density of residential areas and the high number of civilians who the commanders believe are used as human shields by IS members.

IS lost control on most of the cities it captured in northern and western Iraq in 2014 and 2015.

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Number of children who were recruited by the Islamic State fighters in Mosul have exceeded 18,000, according to a senior security source. Many of them resorted to refugee camps with their families.

Speaking to Al-Ghad Press on Thursday, the source said that IS recruited more than 18,000 children below the age of 18 years old through mobilization of the school students.

Security troops obtained the full names of those recruited by IS, he said, adding that university students were forcibly divided among different specializations that serve IS purposes in Mosul.

“The security committee in charge of reviewing the situation in Mosul revealed that thousands of recruited children are there among displaced families,” he said indicating follow up on them to seeking rehabilitation in coordination with religious endowments and education ministries.

IS recruits children to carry out terrorist and suicide attacks.

Iraqi Observatory for Human Rights reported earlier this week that 197 children have been taken hostage by the IS militants near al-Nouri Grand Mosque in west Mosul where the Iraqi troops have closed in on the militant group.

Mosul is the Islamic State’s strongest stronghold in Iraq. Eastern Mosul was recaptured from IS in January, after a US-backed offensive was launched in October. A new offensive started in February to retake the west.

Kirkuk (IraqiNews.com) 17 militants of the Islamic State were killed and injured in a strike launched by the US-led coalition, southwest of Kirkuk, a security source from the province said on Thursday.

Speaking to AlSumaria News, the source said, “the airstrikes by the international coalition striked on Thursday sites of the IS in villages of Olw Borhan, al-Sheikh Zakaa and al-Khabbaz, 35 KM southwest of Kirkuk. Seven members were killed including a prominent leader, while ten others were injured.”

“The airstrike was launched in coordination with Iraqi intelligence authorities,” the source, who preferred anonymity said.

Military operations in Iraq are resumed at places where IS control it. International coalition launch airstrikes against the IS sites leaving casualties.

Islamic State has been holding areas in southwestern Kirkuk since the group emerged in 2014 to announce a self-styled “Islamic Caliphate” In Iraq. It has executed hundreds of civilians in Kirkuk for collaborating with security forces or attempting to escape those areas.

The Iraqi government is expected to launch an offensive to retake IS-occupied areas in Kirkuk once it is done with eradicating IS from Mosul, the group’s biggest bastion in Iraq where U.S.-backed government troops and allied militias have entered a sixth month of operations seeking to recapture the city.

BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:54 A.M.) – The Commander of US Central Command, Joseph Votel, stated that the rigorous rules of engagement under which US forces have been combating ISIS in Iraq remain unchanged.

This is despite allegations that subtle changes to the rules have led to the increased risk of civilian casualties in Mosul.

This came as he was testifying before the House Armed Services Committee in Washington DC on Wednesday.

In the month of March alone, over 1,000 civilians were killed from US-led airstrikes.

International Alliance announces that "less than" a thousand armed remain in Mosul  March 30, 2017

Elements Daesh in Iraq

As the international coalition against the organization "Daesh" that less than a thousand armed are still in Mosul, where Iraqi forces are engaged in fierce battles with the support of the coalition, according to a US military official said Thursday.
Colonel Joe Skeroka coalition spokesman said the number of militants was "approximately two thousand" at the start of the attack on the west of Mosul mid - February, and "we believe they are less than a thousand now."
And it has already seized control of Iraqi forces , which includes about one hundred thousand element to the east of the city and is advancing in the west, particularly in the old and the middle of an air backed by the coalition while civilians were killed in air strikes.
He said the US spokesman said the organization "Daesh" deliberately pushing the alliance to commit mistakes by collecting civilians in buildings and then attempt to expose it to the air raids.
"The Daesh paid civilians to enter the building and urged the coalition to try to launch an attack" to take advantage of "public discontent" and climate of "terror".
" The first time yesterday filmed video scenes" for this style, pointing out that "fighters Daesh forced civilians to enter the building through the killing of one of them showing resistance and then use this building" to shoot the Iraqi forces.
He acknowledged the military commander of the alliance Gen. Stephen Townsend this week that a blow to the coalition in the March 17 caused "probably" the killing of dozens of civilians.
But US military commanders contend that the munitions used in the day in question is not sufficient to bring about the quantum of destruction and human losses. They suspect that the building Fajkh or the explosion of a truck bomb the latest deal greater damage.

The Pentagon announced on Friday it would release a footage that prove ISIS terror group had planned for the Mosul Jadedeh massacre.

Spokesman for the International Coalition against ISIS, Joseph Scrocca, said the footage shows the terror group's militants forcing civilians into buildings from which they fired guns at the coalition forces.

On March 24th, the Pentagon and the US-led coalition in Iraq announced they were conducting an investigation into suspected airstrike that may have killed more than 300 Iraqi civilians in an ISIS-held part of Mosul.

The strikes were carried out on March 17 and 23.

The coalition also confirmed the strikes had been carried out at the request of the Iraqi government.

Intelligence sources say  Iranian spies have infiltrated the Iraqi security apparatus and those who gave the coalition misleading information on the strikes.
