RON 2-22-2025 Mnt Goat There has to be a breakthrough soon. Iraq cannot continue indefinitely like this. They have set up the banking system for international transactions. Everything is actually in place to do business with the rest of the world. The only question is when (not if) will they complete the currency reform as planned.

  2. https://www.kurdistan24.net/en/story/826032 ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The United States is intensifying its efforts to push Iraq into resuming Kurdish oil exports, warning Baghdad that failure to do so could result in sanctions, sources familiar with the matter told Reuters. This move is seen as part of Washington’s broader strategy to limit Iran’s oil revenues and curb its influence in Iraq and the region. U.S. Leverage on Baghdad The pressure from the U.S. comes as President Donald Trump's administration seeks to counter Iran’s oil exports by increasing global supply from alternative sources, including the Kurdistan Region. A resumption of Kurdish oil exports, which have been halted since 2023, could help balance global oil markets, especially amid Washington’s renewed "maximum pressure" campaign against Tehran. Earlier this month, the Iraqi Parliament has approved a critical amendment to the federal budget law, paving the way for the resumption of Kurdistan Region’s oil exports. Read More: Iraqi Parliament Approves Budget Amendment, Clearing Path for Kurdistan Oil Exports The session, held on Sunday, Feb. 2, saw 176 members in attendance, with a majority vote securing the amendment’s passage, particularly tackling Article 12, which regulates oil export agreements between Erbil and Baghdad. In a statement released on Monday, Hayan Abdulghani, Iraq's Minister of Oil, confirmed that no obstacles remain to the resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region. Read More: Iraq's Oil Minister Signals Smooth Resumption of Kurdistan Oil Exports, Timeline Set for Early March 2025 He assured that within a few weeks, all measures for restarting the oil export process from the Kurdistan Region will be completed. The announcement comes as officials from Iraq’s Ministry of Oil prepare to visit Erbil to finalize the details of the plan. The decision follows mounting pressure from Washington, which has made it clear that Baghdad must ensure Kurdish crude reaches international markets. Geopolitical Ramifications Iraq finds itself in a precarious position, balancing its relations with both the U.S. and Iran. While Iran wields significant influence over Iraq through powerful Shia militias and political allies, Washington has ramped up diplomatic and financial measures to curb Iranian influence. Reuters wrote that Iraq’s central bank blocked several private banks last week from accessing U.S. dollars at the request of the U.S. Treasury. The renewed American focus on Iraq coincides with a weakening of Iran’s regional standing following Israeli strikes on its proxy groups. Washington appears keen to capitalize on this shift by pushing Baghdad into compliance with its oil and financial restrictions on Tehran. Hurdles to Resumption Despite Iraq’s announcement of the resumption of Kurdish oil exports, logistical and financial challenges remain unresolved. Key issues include ongoing disputes over payment mechanisms between the Iraqi federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), as well as concerns from international oil companies over their compensation for past and future oil deliveries. Executives from Norwegian energy firm DNO have voiced concerns over how they will be paid for future exports and how they will recover the $300 million owed for previous shipments before the pipeline closure. Turkey, which plays a crucial role in the export route, has also yet to receive concrete details from Iraq regarding the resumption timeline. Additionally, the reintroduction of Kurdish oil to global markets could create tension within OPEC+, as Iraq has been under pressure to comply with its pledged production cuts. Analysts suggest that while Kurdish crude may return to markets, Iraq is unlikely to exceed its OPEC+ production quotas. Future Implications While the U.S. is pushing for an expedited resolution, the technical and political hurdles mean that a swift restart is uncertain. The success of these negotiations will depend on Baghdad’s ability to manage competing pressures from Washington, Tehran, and internal factions within Iraq. According to Reuters, the broader impact on global oil markets will be limited, as Iraq is bound by OPEC+ agreements. However, as Reuters highlighted, the return of Kurdish exports could provide some relief to energy markets, particularly in the wake of disruptions elsewhere, such as the recent Ukrainian drone attack on a major Russian pipeline. As negotiations continue, all eyes remain on Iraq’s next steps, with potential implications for its political stability and economic trajectory.

Treat as rumors. Not verified. Your opine. FROM IRAQI SOURCES: US Threatens Baghdad With Sanctions If It Does Not Resume Kurdistan Oil Exports Quickly. ARTICLE: The US threatened the federal government in Iraq with sanctions on Friday if the Kurdistan Region's oil exports are not resumed quickly. Reuters quoted sources as saying: "The administration of President Donald Trump asked Iraq to resume Kurdish oil exports quickly or face sanctions alongside Iran." The sources added that "Washington believes that Kurdish oil sales could help reduce crude prices & compensate for the decline in Iranian supplies." Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani revealed last Tuesday that Iraq had sent a delegation from the ministry to the Kurdistan Region to agree on a mechanism for delivering and exporting the region's oil through the Turkish port of Ceyhan. The oil minister said that contact had been made with the region's Minister of Natural Resources, Kamal Mohammed Salih, to negotiate with the delegation on the mechanism for receiving and exporting oil through the Turkish port of Ceyhan. This came one day after Iraq accelerated the expected date for resuming oil exports from Kurdistan, as the federal oil minister said last Monday that oil exports from the Kurdistan Region could resume within just a week. Iraq exports between 400,000 and 500,000 barrels per day from fields in the north of the country, in the Kurdistan Region, via the now-defunct Iraq-Turkey pipeline. Oil Minister Hayan Abdul Ghani said earlier this month that at least 300,000 barrels per day of crude were planned to be transported once operations resumed. In Iraqi Kurdistan, oil production is between about 280,000 and 300,000 barrels per day & the regional government estimates its domestic consumption needs — including power generation — at around 110,000 to 120,000 barrels per day. -Iraq & The UN Discuss The International Cooperation Mechanism To Recover Smuggled Funds. The Chairman of the Federal Integrity Commission, Mohammed Ali Al-Lami, discussed with the UN today, Friday, the int'l cooperation mechanism to recover smuggled funds. The Integrity Commission stated in a statement received by Mawazine News, that "the Chairman of the Integrity Commission, Mohammed Ali Al-Lami, discussed with the Deputy Representative of the Secretary-General of the UN, Ghulam Muhammad Ishaq Zai, the int'l cooperation mechanism to recover smuggled funds." According to the statement, the Chairman of the Integrity Commission, Mohammed Ali Al-Lami, said during the meeting that "corruption is a cross-border crime that requires int'l cooperation to reduce it." For his part, the Deputy Representative of the Secretary-General of the UN, Ghulam Muhammad Ishaq Zai, expressed his readiness to "remove the obstacles that prevent Iraq from recovering its smuggled funds." -New Reform Plans For The Banking Sector In Iraq. The PM's Advisor for Financial Affairs, Mazhar Muhammad Salih, stressed that achieving a unified vision to study the conditions of banks in Iraq requires the integration of the national banking market within a homogeneous framework aimed at enhancing the stability of the national financial system & developing its performance in the areas of credit, digital payments & financing economic development. Saleh said in a special statement to {Al Furat News}, "The first vision focuses on the importance of achieving integration between national banks in a way that enhances their role in supporting the Iraqi economy, pointing out that this requires updating the financial infrastructure & adopting modern technologies to meet the requirements of the era. The 2nd vision, according to the financial advisor, is related to developing two comprehensive reform plans targeting the public & private banking sectors, with the aim of improving the performance of these institutions in accordance with int'l standards. He explained that the reform will include improving governance & financial management & enhancing transparency, which will facilitate the involvement of Iraqi banks in the global financial relations network. Saleh added that the direct goal of banking reform is to enable Iraqi banks to deal more effectively with the outside world, ensuring economic openness & attracting foreign investments, as well as strengthening Iraq's position on the int'l financial scene. This trend comes in light of the government’s ongoing efforts to develop the financial sector & enhance its role in achieving sustainable development & supporting the national economy, as banking reform is viewed as an essential step towards achieving these goals. -Oil Prices Rise On Expectations Of Higher US Demand. Oil prices continued their gains today, Friday, in early Asian trading, & are heading for a weekly rise amid growing expectations of strong demand in the US after data showed a decline in gasoline & distillate inventories & prices received support from concerns about disruption to Russian supplies. Brent crude futures rose 16 cents, or 0.2 percent, to $76.64 a barrel & US West Texas Intermediate crude rose 17 cents, or 0.2 percent, to $72.65 a barrel & the two crudes are heading for weekly gains of about three percent. The US Energy Information Administration said yesterday that crude oil inventories in the US rose while gasoline & distillate inventories fell last week after seasonal maintenance at refineries led to a decline in refining operations.

  10. Iraqi Ministry of Oil Finalizes Procedures for Resuming Kurdistan Oil Exports 22-02-2025 06:13 ShareFacebookTwitterWhatsAppTelegram Peregraf The Iraqi Ministry of Oil has confirmed that procedures have been completed to resume the export of oil produced in the Kurdistan Region through the Ceyhan Port. This move aligns with the mechanisms outlined in the Budget Law and its amendment, as well as within the production ceiling specified for Iraq by OPEC. In a press release issued today, the Ministry of Oil called on the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to deliver the quantities produced from the operating fields to the Oil Marketing Company (SOMO) to begin exporting via the Iraqi-Turkish pipeline and the Ceyhan Port. The exports will be in accordance with contracts signed with the nominated companies. Meanwhile, Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and Iraqi prime minister Mohammed Shia Sudani met in Baghdad today to discuss the export of oil from the Kurdistan Region. According to the Sudanese office, the Iraqi Prime Minister stressed the need to expedite the resumption of oil production by companies in the Kurdistan Region and the re-export of oil through the Turkish Ceyhan Port. The United States is exerting pressure on Iraq to recommence oil exports from the Kurdistan Region, citing concerns over the smuggling of oil to Iran. In light of the Trump administration's "maximum pressure" campaign against Tehran, the United States has been urging Iraq to resume Kurdish oil exports or face potential sanctions, according to eight sources familiar with the matter recently talked to Reuters. This move aims to offset a potential fall in Iranian oil exports as Washington seeks to reduce Iran's oil export revenues to zero. The closure of the pipeline carrying Kurdish crude to the Turkish port of Ceyhan since 2023 has led to a rise in smuggling of oil to Iran by truck under supervision of the Kurdistan Region authorities. Sources indicate that approximately 200,000 barrels per day of cut-price crude are being smuggled from Kurdistan Region to Iran and, to a lesser extent, Turkey. The U.S. is pressuring Baghdad to curb this smuggling and ensure Kurdistan Region crude is exported to global markets through Turkey. An Iraqi oil official, aware of the crude trucking shipments to Iran, noted that Washington wants Kurdistan Region crude to be exported globally rather than sold cheaply to Iran. This smuggling network is believed to generate at least $1 billion a year for Iran and its proxies. Furthermore, in recent years, the issue of oil smuggling has raised concerns about the proper allocation of oil revenues and their return to the public treasury of the KRG. Since 2023, smuggling of oil from the Kurdistan Region to Iran by truck has become a prevalent issue. This illegal trade not only undermines the Kurdistan region's legal oil exports but also diverts substantial revenue away from the KRG's public treasury. The smuggling operations generate significant revenue for those involved, including the ruling officials from Kurdistan Region and Iraq. As a result, the funds that should be contributing to the region's public treasury and supporting vital public services are instead being funneled into illicit channels. The impact of this diversion of oil revenue is profound. The Kurdistan Region has been grappling with a prolonged salary crisis, where civil servants frequently experience delays in their salary disbursements due to financial disputes between Erbil and Baghdad. The unresolved payment of salaries for government employees has led to widespread public discontent and protests. Oil exports from the Kurdistan Region were suspended in March 2023 after Turkey halted the flow of crude through the Ceyhan pipeline following an international arbitration ruling in Iraq’s favor. However, recent developments have paved the way for renewed exports, as the Iraqi parliament passed a budget amendment on February 2, 2025. The amendment was signed into law by the Iraqi president, signaling a positive shift for the oil industry. The amendment, proposed by the Iraqi government, sets the cost of production and transportation of Kurdistan’s oil at $16 per barrel, with the Iraqi Ministry of Finance covering the cost. Kurdish MP Dilan Ghafoor told Peregraf that this rate is temporary, as an independent company will conduct an assessment within 60 days to determine the actual costs. Both the KRG and oil companies operating in the region have welcomed the amendment, seeing it as a crucial step toward resuming exports. Observers emphasize the need for swift resolution of financial and logistical challenges, given the heavy reliance of both Baghdad and Erbil on oil revenues. The halt in oil sales has severely impacted the Kurdistan Region, causing financial strain and delays in salary payments and public services. The international market is closely monitoring these developments, as Iraq, one of OPEC’s largest oil producers, seeks to restore full export capacity amid fluctuating global oil prices. 13. raq's Oil Minister Signals Smooth Resumption of Kurdistan Oil Exports, Timeline Set for Early March 2025 The announcement comes as officials from Iraq’s Ministry of Oil prepare to visit Erbil to finalize the details of the plan. 2025-02-17 12:43 Hayan Abdulghani, Iraq's Minister of Oil. (Graphic: Designed by Kurdistan24) KurdistanHayan AbdulghaniIraqi Oil MinisterKurdistan Region oil exports ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - In a statement released on Monday, Hayan Abdulghani, Iraq's Minister of Oil, confirmed that no obstacles remain to the resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region. He assured that within a few weeks, all measures for restarting the oil export process from the Kurdistan Region will be completed. The announcement comes as officials from Iraq’s Ministry of Oil prepare to visit Erbil to finalize the details of the plan. The oil minister outlined that technical processes have been put in place and expressed optimism that Kurdistan's oil exports would resume within the first quarter of 2025. He added that there is no longer any issue halting the resumption of oil flows, and he expects to see exports take place by early March. In another related update, Kamal Mohammed Salih, the Acting Minister of Natural Resources of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), confirmed that an official delegation from the Ministry of Oil is expected in Erbil on Tuesday. The delegation will engage in discussions regarding the resumption of Kurdistan's oil exports. The process for resuming oil exports has gained approval at the federal level, with the Iraqi parliament ratifying the federal budget law and the relevant articles that enable the resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region. Salih further pointed out that the Iraqi Federal Government's stance on the resumption has been consistent, and the technical teams involved are now fully prepared for implementation. "The federal government has officially approved the budgetary adjustments, and there are no remaining legal or financial impediments," Salih said in a statement to Kurdistan24. "We are ready to move forward with the resumption of oil exports from the Kurdistan Region." Detailed Provisions 1: The Federal Ministry of Finance shall reimburse the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) from the sovereign budget for expenditures related to the cost of oil production and transportation. This applies to the portion of oil produced in the region that is collected by the State Oil Marketing Organization (SOMO) or the Federal Ministry of Oil, per clauses (A) and (B) of this section. A fair and transparent accounting process shall be implemented for production and transportation costs for each field separately, under the supervision of a specialized international technical advisory body. This body shall be designated by the Federal Ministry of Oil in coordination with the Ministry of Natural Resources in the region within 60 days of the enforcement of this law. In the event of any disputes beyond this timeframe, the Federal Council of Ministers shall appoint the advisory body. 2: The advisory body referenced in the previous clause shall present a detailed breakdown of production and transportation costs to the Federal Ministries of Oil and Finance, as well as the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq. These costs shall be approved to implement this law, and previous debts shall be settled based on the historical cost per barrel multiplied by the volume of crude received, as specified in clauses (A) and (B) of this section. The Federal Ministry of Finance shall then transfer the corresponding funds to the KRG. 3: The immediate transfer of oil produced in the Kurdistan Region to SOMO or the Federal Ministry of Oil, in accordance with clauses (A) and (B) of this section, shall commence. The reimbursement for production and transportation costs shall be provided by the Federal Ministry of Finance at a provisional rate of $16 per barrel. The final settlement of these costs shall be determined following the completion of the work of the specialized technical advisory body, as outlined above. The restart of oil exports is expected to provide significant relief to the KRG's budget and economy, which has faced considerable financial strain due to halted revenues from oil exports in recent years. The Kurdistan Region's oil exports have been a contentious issue between the federal government in Baghdad and the regional government in Erbil. After a prolonged suspension, the oil export process is set to resume following the amendments made to the budget law by the Iraqi parliament. This is a key step in normalizing economic relations and ensuring the continuation of essential revenue streams for the Kurdistan Region.

Mazhar Saleh: Iraqi banking reform needs to enhance transparency and governance Time: 2025/02/22 11:47:07 Read: 1,290 times {Economic: Al Furat News} The Prime Minister's Advisor for Economic Affairs, Mazhar Muhammad Salih, confirmed today, Saturday, that banking reform in Iraq requires enhancing transparency and governance in the banking sector. Saleh said in a statement to {Al Furat News} agency, "The operations carried out by banks operating in Iraq depend largely on the confidence of international correspondent banks in the local banking sector, which necessitates the need to provide great protection for Iraqi banks." He pointed out that "the reform process must ensure that Iraqi banks are provided with the best transparency and governance tools, in addition to adopting the necessary applications to confront various risks and comply with international banking rules." He added, "These measures are what everyone is looking forward to in the near future, to achieve stability and growth of the Iraqi banking sector and integrate it effectively into the international banking market." https://alforatnews.iq/news/%D9%85%D8%B8%D9%87%D8%B1-%D8%B5%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AD-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A5%D8%B5%D9%84%D8%A7%D8%AD-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%85%D8%B5%D8%B1%D9%81%D9%8A-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B9%D8%B1%D8%A7%D9%82%D9%8A-%D9%8A%D8%AD%D8%AA%D8%A7%D8%AC-%D8%A5%D9%84%D9%89-%D8%AA%D8%B9%D8%B2%D9%8A%D8%B2-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%B4%D9%81%D8%A7%D9%81%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D9%88%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AD%D9%88%D9%83%D9%85%D8%A9

So, take everything with a grain of salt ... RON 2-21-2025 MarkZ We do know for a fact that the Iraqi Parliament Speaker of the house is in Washington DC and meeting with the Iraqi division and the US department of state. This groundbreaking initiative launched under the directives of the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Iraq signals a bold step towards economic stability...These bonds come in two distinct categories... The first category valued at IQD 500,000 offers a 6% annual interest rate payable every 6 months with a maturity period of 2 years. The second, IQD 1 million delivers...7% annually...maturity of 4 years...These bonds are available not only to banks but also to the general public...This initiative marks a new chapter in Iraq's economic landscape... 2-21-2025 Samson Article: "The first of its kind in the region and Iraq as a whole.. De Larue designs and creates the most sophisticated tamper-proof currency in the world. Counterfeiting is nearly impossible. The equipment needed to make a believable counterfeit Dinar is astronomical if it could be obtained at all. These stories don't hold water. The parallel market parity story and the corruption story are equally illogical if not ridiculous and the counterfeiting story is absurd. How do you get any better than the best in the world? Just doesn't make sense. They are still stalling and the reason seems to be the cross-border payment training. 2-21-2025 Clare Article: "Member of Parliamentary Finance: The failure of the 2025 budget tables to reach Parliament is hindering the work of spending" Quote: "Member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Jamal Kojer, confirmed that the 2025 budget schedules have not yet reached Parliament." 2-21-2025 Frank26 [Iraq boots-on-the-ground report] FIREFLY: They showed several individuals that were busted in the new system trying to laundry money but they can't now with this new system. FRANK: That's right. Security and stability was the #1 thing that was needed in order to release the new exchange rate. That's why it's exciting right now. 2-21-2025 MarkZ Article: “Kurdistan Council of Ministers confirm its aspirations to resume the nation’s oil exports as soon as possible” This is big and they are talking of resuming them in the month of February. This may be one of the big keys we have been waiting for. 2-21-2025 Mnt Goat Another major step to fully globalizing Iraq is in the Article titled “IRAQ MOVES TOWARDS GLOBALIZATION ...IMPLEMENTATION OF INTERNATIONAL ACCOUNTING STANDARDS BEGINS IN 2026”. ...in my eyes this is not going to trigger the RV but is certainly a right step in the direction we want. Remember the CBI told us that January is the most optimistic to revalue the dinar with any substantial change in value. Why? It is because of the accounting practices and it is MOST convenient to begin a new fiscal year clean with a new rate. Remember we may be already into February but we know they just passed the amendment to the budget law and so they have not yet even opened the 2025 budget. So there still can be a rate change coming.

  29. Yes goat we are in the last week of February 2025! No you, or NOBODY else knows what is happening in Iraq, No there was nothing just passed as an amendment to the budget law. Period! You or anyone else knows that they (Iraq) have not yet even opened the 2025 budget! What we do know is ramadam begins this week! So there is nothing probably going to happen this week, for a so called RV or during this ramadam period. Ramadam will be over, I believe with one week left before the end of the 1st quarter of 2025! There is a very slight chance of a rate change coming in the 1st quarter of 2025! Me personally, I think we are in for another dead year for any type rate change for 2025! I do remember the rumors of the cbi saying that the US dollar would not be used any longer and the crooked auctions would be stopped on the 1st of January 2025! Which neither has happened as of the 21st day of February 2025! These rumors made for an optimistic scenario for the IQD to see some positive ER change for 2025, since by Iraqi law the only time period for an RV is the start of a new fiscal year! So goat you should now go back to one your oldies but goodie’s bull$hit stories as to what went wrong. I like a lot of people here on DV needed to see an RV this year! For more reasons than 0ne! None of these poo-roo gurus knows anything about what is going on in Iraq, I personally don’t think anyone knows what is happening over there! These so called news stories or anything else coming out there is nothing but propaganda. It seems to me that there should be some sort of information about what is happening over there! That should be available. If there is anything like that, the people on this site should be able to find it.Case closed! JMHO

  31. They are talking about dollars to travel abroad, dollars for medical treatment abroad, dollars for people who study abroad. They need to show documentation to obtain the dollars. The use of dollars inside Iraq is illegal since 1/1/24 Just my opinion

  39. You seem to be trying to twist this around to being TG's fault, which is she is just trying to keep the site from a free for all. As far as I I can tell, she' is being very patient with you in trying to gently explain why certain posts must be moved. @T B , if you are not able to comprehend how posting on a forum properly and in the correct thread then maybe stick to just reading ? Being removed is a little harsh for what you are doing, just at least try and follow the decorum of the site. I'm sure you can do it, just have to put in a little effort first. Shedagal was kind enough to start a thread of your own and you seem to understand how that works, so just give it a whirl. You bring a lot of interesting articles over, just please, put in proper thread, or comment appropriately to the threads. Nothing wrong with quoting scripture, just don't go overboard when doing so. If you can do these simple things then you will get along just fine here. pp
