The talks between Lebanese President Michel Aoun and Iraqi officials have dealt with several files, notably Lebanese investors and businessmen, estimated at $ 8 billion, according to the Lebanese newspaper al-Akhbar on Wednesday, referring to work done in the 1980s.
The newspaper said in a news that “the Baghdad talks opened the door to address several files, most notably the funds of Lebanese investors and businessmen estimated at 8 billion dollars, and return to the work done in the eighties of the last century.”
The newspaper added that “it was decided to follow up the files through the formation of a joint committee, and will be held today a meeting between the Director General of the Ministry of Justice of Lebanon, Judge Maysam Nuweiri, and the President of the Lebanese Lebanese Business Council Abdul Wadud Al-Nassuli.
The paper pointed out that “Aoun will meet today, before his move to Armenia, Speaker of the House of Representatives Salim al-Jubouri and Iraqi Vice President Iyad Allawi.”

President Fuad Masoum said on Tuesday that he discussed with his Lebanese counterpart Michel Aoun the relations between the two countries and the entry of Iraqis into Lebanon.

"The relationship between Iraq and Lebanon is historic for thousands of years," Masoum said during a press conference with Lebanese President Michel Aoun at the presidential residence in Baghdad. He added that "Lebanon has faced similar suffering from the forces of darkness that link on its eastern border, and the decision to confront it was inevitable and we succeeded in that," expressing the hope that "Iraq will complete the elimination of sleeper terrorist cells." Aoun called on Iraqi President Fuad Masum to visit Lebanon as soon as possible. 
On Tuesday, Lebanese President Michel Aoun arrived in the capital Baghdad for an official visit, the first of its kind. He arrived on his arrival at the presidential headquarters in Baghdad and held a meeting with President Fuad Masoum. 
Iraqi President Fuad Masoum surprised Lebanese President Michel Aoun after the lunch break by presenting a cake that represents the science of Lebanon and Iraq. He asked Aoun to cut the cake to celebrate his 83rd birthday, wishing him a long life.

Hmmm.... Lebanon could have been paid years ago when the value of the dinar was around 3.5 to the dollar (or obviously before that).  I see Lebanon as an example of how seriously Iraq deals with their debts. That's a 38 year old debt. I'm glad Lebanon stepped up and made this public for all to see at least this portion of their borrowing record.
