President Fuad Masoum said on Tuesday that he discussed with his Lebanese counterpart Michel Aoun the relations between the two countries and the entry of Iraqis into Lebanon.

"The relationship between Iraq and Lebanon is historic for thousands of years," Masoum said during a press conference with Lebanese President Michel Aoun at the presidential residence in Baghdad. "This relationship is historical, cultural and political. There are common interests between the two countries."

He added that "Lebanon has faced similar suffering from the forces of darkness that link on its eastern border, and the decision to confront it was inevitable and we succeeded in that," expressing the hope that "Iraq will complete the elimination of sleeper terrorist cells." Aoun called on Iraqi President Fuad Masum to visit Lebanon as soon as possible.

Aoun will spend 48 hours in Iraq, during which he will meet Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and Speaker of Parliament Salim al-Jubouri.

Hmmm.... Lebanon could have been paid years ago when the value of the dinar was around 3.5 to the dollar (or obviously before that).  I see Lebanon as an example of how seriously Iraq deals with their debts. That's a 38 year old debt. I'm glad Lebanon stepped up and made this public for all to see at least this portion of their borrowing record.
