Iraqi former PM Nouri al-Maliki's wealth is estimated at $40 billion, informed sources told The Baghdad Post on Thursday.

The sources revealed the 67-year-old has made his wealth through manipulating the Iraqi Central Bank's accounts as well as his suspicious projects inside and outside Iraq.

They also confirmed he took over the 2014 state budget without releasing concluding statements.

They added al-Maliki's henchmen have become real estate owners after they were "barefooted in Tuwairij", the district in Karbala where he was born.

The sources also accused al-Maliki's son-in law, Yasser Abd Skheil, of gathering millions through suspicious deals.

Skhel, currently a member of the Iraqi parliament, exploited his ties with al-Maliki, the sources said, to seize state-owned lands.

Al-Maliki left his post as the house speaker in 2014, the same year in which he was elected one of three vice-presidents.

DT Thanks,  DV, The case is building up against Maliki on a daily basis now with crimes against the Iraqi citizens and stealing the wealth of the country.   His crimes and theft is now broadcasting in Iraq & around the world so everyone know the evil he has done.  II'm certain PM Abadi will bring this up with President DJT when they meet next week knowing the our President will fully support Abadi.

45 minutes ago, Laid Back said:

$40 billion dollars is more than enough to cover the 2017 budget deficit.!

Indeed it is Laid Back! Arrest the Maliki, repatriate all his ill gotten gains! Cover the budget deficit. RV then hang him high

Thanks DT...Iraq needs to pursue freezing all Maliki's assets...Put an injunction to retain all of Maliki's stolen wealth, and indict Maliki on all charges...This way the Iraqi charges will have to be settled before Maliki gets his neck stretched by the ICC charges...This way would be poetic justice...

Thanks Thugs, the world is now aware of the atrocities this man has committed and his case is being systematically investigated and justice will come down hard and swift. The name Maliki is now associated with crime, theft and corruption and his days are counting down. I'm sure he is one of the reasons as well we have many parliamentary issues at present coupled with these perpetual stalling tactics by his co conspirators.
