The Cabinet votes to amend the official holidays law

Baghdad / Al-Masala: The Cabinet, in its ordinary session, Monday, 24 December 2018, several decisions, including the vote on the amendment of the law of public holidays.

"Masala" publishes the text of the statement of the Information Office of the Prime Minister:

The Council of Ministers issued a number of resolutions during its regular session held on Monday 24 December 2018 under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, Mr. Adel Abdel Mahdi. Topics were also discussed for the agenda and political and security issues.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister congratulated the ministers who voted for the House of Representatives and attended today's session. He expressed the hope that the government will be completed soon after the vote on the ministers of education and immigration.

The Prime Minister reviewed Iraq's position and preparations after the US decision to withdraw from Syria and the measures and plans to be taken to protect Iraq and to avoid any harm or repercussions of this decision on our security and stability and security of the region in general.

The Council of Ministers voted to postpone the official working day on Tuesday and to propose that on the 25th of December every year an official holiday be held on the occasion of the birth of Jesus Christ, and vote on the amendment of the official holidays law, blessed to Christians and all our people.

The Council of Ministers approved the nomination of representatives of ministries and governorates for the purpose of completing the file of services in the government program, and approved the annual report of the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Council.

In the field of human rights and freedoms, the reports of the Republic of Iraq on the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights have been contradictory.

Im thinking thier running out of things to celebrate and take a couple days off. Maybe it has something to do with the bunch of christians that saved them from a bunch of thier own kind.

Merry Christmas. Just passed 5000 greenies. My only gift so far this year. At least the tree is up. Plenty to be thankful for though. Take care all and may we have a blessed Christmas and a jubilee new year.
