For his part, Gedo expressed his optimism that the participation rate in the elections is high, adding that the situation in Iraq today is generally stable and secure thanks to the great victory achieved on terrorism, which will certainly be a strong incentive for voters.

The opening of polling stations abroad in the Netherlands and Lebanon
BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Polling stations opened their doors to Iraqi voters in Lebanon and Helmand at 7 pm on Thursday to vote in the House of Representatives elections.
Polling stations in the Netherlands will close four centers and Lebanon at 6 pm Baghdad time. 
Outside elections are held in 21 countries and over two days 10 and 11 May, and began in New Zealand, Australia, Iran, UAE, Turkey, France and Finland Egypt. 

The Electoral Commission expects 850,000 Iraqi voters to take part in the two-day elections, which will last for 10 and 11 days

Riad Badran

The Independent Electoral Commission announced the date of announcing the results of the vote for the House of Representatives elections abroad.

The head of the electoral district in the Commission, Riad Badran said in a statement that the date of announcing the results of the ballot abroad will be after the end of the general ballot inside Saturday, adding that the special voting process for the security forces and the voting of the Iraqi communities took place with high flow.

Badran said that the results of the polling of the Iraqi communities abroad will arrive after the closing of the polling stations to the headquarters of the Commission and will be ready for the announcement, noting that the Commission will not announce so as not to be material for media promotion by lists of the highest votes.

announced that the Electoral Commission, on Thursday, the opening of polling stations in the United States , marking the start of the reception of Iraqi voters in America. "The polling stations in the United States have been opened to receive Iraqi voters," Safa al-Ghazali 

, the Office of the Electoral Commission in Washington, said in an emergency broadcast on state television. 

On Thursday (May 10, 2018), the election process for the internal security forces and the armed forces to elect the members of the Federal Council of Representatives for its fourth legislative session was set to begin on Saturday.

All logistic and technical preparations for the voting in Iraqi parliamentary election had been finished, according to secretary-general of the cabinet Ali al-Allaq on Thursday.

The government made sure that all preparations to facilitate the voting process to all citizens, especially the displaced, Allaq affirmed, adding that the government is coordinating with the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC).

The security and military personnel, convicts and prisoners started casting their ballots in early morning of Thursday in the parliamentary election Iraq is witnessing.

The government will impose a car curfew starting from Friday midnight until the same time of Saturday, besides closing all air, land and sea ports of Iraq at the same period.

Iraq holds legislative election by May 12. The integrity of this election is questionable. Clerics and politicians say fraud will happen due to the control of militias over the polling centers.
