On Tuesday, Iraqi Minister Salman Jumaili met new Jordanian Ambassador to Iraq Adel Al-Zu'bi and discussed bilateral relations between Baghdad and Amman and means of developing them in economic, trade and investment fields, according to a statement.

He called on Jumaili, the Kingdom of Jordan, to contribute to the reconstruction and investment in Iraq.

The Jordanian ambassador stressed the Kingdom's desire to provide all possible support to the Iraqi neighbor, which would positively reflect on the map of Arab and international investment in Iraq.

The Government of the Kingdom of Jordan agreed with its Egyptian counterpart to study the establishment of a joint logistic center to contribute to the reconstruction of Iraq and Syria .

The Iraqi and Jordanian ministers of industry agreed on September 10 to establish a joint industrial zone on the border between the two countries and expedite the completion of the list of Jordanian goods, which will be exempted by 30% of Iraqi customs duties imposed on imports .

Jordan reveals the date of implementation of the pipeline project with Iraq

The oil and energy ministries in Iraq and Jordan signed on November 15, 2015 a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of oil and natural gas. 
On April 2, 2017, the Iraqi government approved the construction of the Basra-Aqaba-Jordan oil pipeline project at a cost of about $ 5.6 billion. 
On February 5, the Jordanian cabinet approved the project. 
The investor will bear the cost of extending the pipeline, where the investor will recover its costs through the wage to be paid by the Iraqi government. 
The completion of the pipeline project between the two countries is 25 years.
It is planned to export one million barrels per day of Iraqi crude to Jordan, including 150 thousand barrels to operate the refinery. 
The pipeline will extend to the port of Aqaba, the distance to the oil heading west towards Europe and North Africa, and will avoid traffic from the Gulf Sea and the Strait of Hormuz, to the Arabian Sea and then the Strait of Bab al-Mandab and the Red Sea, to the Suez Canal.

He added that the Iraqi Council of Ministers "agreed to include 399 Jordanian products with customs exemptions out of 792, based on the recommendations of the Iraqi-Jordanian committee to follow up the implementation of the free trade agreement between the two countries."

Al-Sudani stressed that the Joint Committee held several meetings during which 792 Jordanian products were presented, reviewed and studied for inclusion in the reduction of customs duties. The committee raised its recommendations to the Iraqi Council of Ministers. The recommendations excluded a number of products on the list of customs exemptions, The local product, some of which have been proven not to be produced in Jordan mainly or the mismatch of the quantity installed in the lists with the design capacities of the plants when visited by joint committees. "

 He explained that the Committee, according to its recommendations, "excluded 393 Jordanian products from the reduction, and agreed to 399, and that the Iraqi Council of Ministers approved the recommendations of the Committee in this regard, and has been ordered to the General Authority of Customs of Iraq to implement the recommendations, and we are currently following procedures with customs to implement the guidance of the Council Ministers on customs exemptions and exemptions on Jordanian goods and products ".

In response to a question on the status of Iraq certain conditions committed by Jordan in exchange for Iraqi customs exemptions, Sudan denied "the existence of any Iraqi conditions on Jordan, except with regard to the laws and regulations in force which are the normal systems of work for the establishment of economic and strategic cooperation both short term or long term" .

On January 9, 2013, Jordan and Iraq signed a framework agreement to extend a 1,700 km pipeline to transport Iraqi crude oil from Basra to Aqaba export terminals at a cost of about $ 18 billion and a capacity of 1 million barrels per day .

      Zuwati said that the approval of the Iraqi Council of Ministers will be followed by the signing of an agreement between Jordan and Iraq and then start the implementation of the pipeline project, which will extend from the city of Basra and branch to the oil refinery in the city of Zarqa through the Kingdom's land to the port of Aqaba and to the international market. 

      She pointed out that Jordan and Iraq agreed during the ministerial meeting held in Baghdad early this year headed by the two prime ministers to move forward with the project which serves the interests of the two brotherly peoples by opening a new port for Iraq's oil exports and granting Jordan the right to buy 150,000 barrels of oil per day through the pipeline Which is estimated to cost about 5 billion dollars. 

      Zwati praised the brotherly ties between Jordan and the Republic of Iraq, especially in the energy field, stressing the importance of joint projects in the service of the two countries and the interests of the two brotherly peoples. 

      Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi announced Tuesday that the Iraqi cabinet has approved the Iraqi-Jordanian pipeline project, stressing that any impediment to the export of oil through the Strait of Hormuz will affect the Iraqi economy, which depends on oil imports and the Council of Ministers is considering alternatives to find different paths And diversified to ensure the continuation of the movement of Iraqi oil exports in a streamlined manner. 

      For his part, Deputy Prime Minister for Energy and Minister of Oil Thamer Ghadhban said that the Cabinet approved the project of export (Rumaila - Aqaba) capacity of one million barrels per day through the implementation of a pipeline project to transport crude oil from oil fields in Rumaila Basra to the port of Aqaba on the sea the Red. 

      The Jordanian and Iraqi sides agreed at the end of talks for the two prime ministers of the two countries on February 2 to start studies necessary for the construction of Iraqi-Jordanian oil pipeline, which runs from Basra through Haditha and then to the port of Aqaba. 

      On the other hand, the two sides discussed the latest developments in supplying Jordan with about 10,000 barrels of crude oil per day. 

      In January, Iraq agreed to supply Jordan with Kirkuk crude from the Baiji plant in accordance with a price formula linked to the price of Brent crude, minus transportation costs and different specifications.
