“35 companies have submitted their bids to the Ministry of Oil to establish a line of 1,700 km from Basra to Aqaba in Jordan,” said Zahir al-Abadi, a member of the committee. “The gas line that will be next to the oil line has been postponed because of the financial crisis.”

Iraq exempts more than 30 Jordanian goods from customs duties

The Euphrates -

Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarbouk al-Qudah announced on Sunday that the Iraqi government has agreed to exempt more than 300 Jordanian goods from customs duties.

The judges said in a press statement that the exemption of these goods from customs duties came at the request of Jordan earlier this year 2017, under the bilateral free trade agreement signed between the two countries, which is the only between Iraq and an Arab country.Adding that the Iraqi side, the reality of the industrial sectors of Jordan, wishing to export to Iraq, as the goods that will be issued and will benefit from the decision is of Jordanian origin.

Iraq has imposed customs duties on all imports from different countries by 30%, as of last year, as part of a plan aimed at the Iraqi government to protect domestic products and increase tax revenues.

The Minister of Industry and Trade of Jordan expected that the exemption of goods from customs will contribute to increasing Jordan's exports to the Iraqi market, which has declined significantly in the last five years due to the security situation in Iraq and the closure of land borders between the two countries.

The border crossing between Iraq and Jordan was reopened at the end of last August, after being completely entangled since 2014 because of attacks on a large number of western Iraq before it was liberated.

The Jordanian minister said that "Iraq is one of the most important export markets for Jordanian products," noting that "many of the Jordanian factories were established for export to the Iraqi market."

Jordanian exports to Iraq last year amounted to about $ 695 million, while before the unrest it was about $ 2 billion.

Jordan is waiting for a response from Iraq to improve its market

JANUARY 16, 2018 3:28 PM
Jordan is waiting for a response from Iraq to improve its market
Jordan is waiting for a response from Iraq to improve its market

Baghdad / Baghdadiya News .. The industrial and export sectors in Jordan, to knock the door of non-traditional foreign markets to compensate losses lost to major markets during the past years, especially after the events in Iraq and the closure of the border between the two countries.

Jordan, which has been a conduit for goods and products to Iraq, Syria and Lebanon, and Qatar through Saudi Arabia, hopes to reach new markets for products whose size has been reduced due to border closures.

Jordanian exports have suffered a clear decline in recent years, especially after the closure of the border with Syria and Iraq because of the security conditions troubled since the start of the revolutions of the Arab Spring in 2011.

Jordanian exports to Qatar were also affected after Saudi Arabia announced the closure of the land crossing with Doha, through which Jordanian trucks were passing through.

Jordan is heading to African markets, a consumer market of more than 1.2 billion people in an attempt to reach some countries offset by closing the border of its neighbors.

Official statistics indicate that the value of total exports to Jordan during the first nine months of last year decreased by 2.8 percent to 3.8 billion dinars (5.35 billion dollars).

The decrease in exports led to a rise in the Jordanian trade deficit by 11.2 percent year-on-year in the first nine months of this year compared to the same period of 2016.

The deficit amounted to 6.7 billion dinars (9.44 billion dollars) at the end of September, compared with 6.03 billion dinars (8.5 billion dollars) in the same period last year, according to the Jordanian Department of Statistics.

** Difficult situations

The head of the Amman Chamber of Industry, Ziad Al-Homsi, said that "Jordanian exports were significantly affected by the turmoil in the surrounding countries, especially as these countries were also a way and a market for those industries."

"Al-Homsi," he added, adding that the local market, too, had experienced a downturn due to the difficult economic situation in the country, which had lost part of its market share.

The industrial sectors in Jordan - according to Homsi - headed towards the African market at the beginning of the year to find new markets for exports, which reached new high levels during 2014, 2016 and until the first half of 2017.

** Continued suffering

The head of a campaign in Jordan, Mousa al-Saket, said that Jordan's exports have witnessed a significant decline in previous years, which led to the need to open new doors, most importantly African markets.

Al-Saket, a member of the Amman Chamber of Industry, added to Anatolia: The Jordanian government supports this trend through ministerial participation in delegations to African countries such as Tanzania

Ethiopia and Kenya recently, to support export promotion and to overcome obstacles to export. "

"Government support is necessary to support the private sector, which alone can not overcome obstacles, especially when it comes to customs procedures and granting exemptions," he said.

The traditional markets of the Jordanian industry continue to suffer the consequences of security unrest in neighboring countries, which were a major outlet according to Saket.

Despite the opening of the Trebil border crossing between Jordan and Iraq, some of the distances are still unsafe, and Jordan is still waiting for an Iraqi response to tariff exemptions on some goods by 30 percent.

** European Market

Vice President of the Vegetable and Fruit Exporters Association Zuhair Juhayhan said: "The situation of the agricultural sector is completely different from the industrial sector, especially since it can not rely heavily on the African market as an important agricultural product.

Joeyhan told Anatolia that the agricultural sector believes that the European market could be a good export destination if it receives government subsidies that reduce the cost of air exports.

Jordan's agricultural products were found in Qatar as their main market, before Saudi Arabia announced its severing ties with Doha and closing the only land corridor with it.

Parliamentary oil: There is no validity for the export of Iraqi oil to Israel under the agreement with Jordan

nafut.jpg

BAGHDAD - Iraq's oil and energy commission responded Wednesday to reports of the export of Iraqi oil to the Zionist entity, pointing out that "Iraq signed a project agreement with Jordan in November 2015 at a cost of 5, 6 billion dollars to pump oil from Basra to Aqaba by one million barrels per day, of which 150 thousand barrels to Jordan as part of the project, which is not very important to the economy of the country, "as described.

The member of the committee, Tariq Siddiq, denied that "the export of Iraqi oil is directed to the Israeli entity through the project because Syria, Jordan and Lebanon have a border with the Israeli entity and this does not prevent Iraq from exporting its oil abroad," noting that "Iraq is a major oil state and the second state the size of the reserve After Saudi Arabia and has the right to move in all directions, either through the port of Basra to the Gulf or Kurdistan or later to develop the port of Aqaba and Lattakia  with a preliminary agreement to extend the pipeline to export oil to Iran also. Ending

The head of the committee to follow up the Jordanian export issues to Iraq, Hassan al-Samadi, said Tuesday that the value of goods exported through the border crossing of Trebil by 14.1 million dollars in 2017.
Al-Samadi said in an interview with Al-Hayat newspaper that the number of customs data completed since the beginning of the year reached about 526 for goods transported by 840 trucks. He pointed out that the goods exported to Iraq via Trebil come from different sectors, mainly detergents, vegetables, fruits, plastics and iron. He pointed out that the Jordanian trucks are not currently entering Iraq, but reach the border and transport goods to other trucks, which ensures the transfer into Iraqi territory, and the rate of transit up to 40 trucks a day.
Al-Smadi said that Iraq is one of the most important trading partners of Jordan, which is the main nerve of the Jordanian industry, and enjoys the priority and priority of many Jordanian traders, importers and industrialists, and they prefer him to others.
Taribil is the only land crossing linking the flow of commercial goods between Jordan and Iraq and closed in 2015 because of the security situation.
Jordanian traders expressed dismay at the continuation of Iraq’s imposition of fees on Jordanian products, which negatively affect the increase in trade exchange between the two countries, and stressed that many of them are waiting for the exemption of Jordanian products from customs duties, which led to the postponement of exports to Iraq.
The Iraqi government imposes customs duties ranging from 5 to 80 percent on all goods entering its territory, regardless of the exporting countries. The Jordanian goods are charged with customs duties of about 30 percent, despite the existence of the two trade agreements between the two countries and the Greater Arab Free Trade. These agreements exempt Jordanian products from any fees when entering the Iraqi market.

Jordan to lift road embargo with Iraq soon

15-02-2018 12:44 PM

The Euphrates -

Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yabar al-Qudah said his country would soon allow Jordanian trucks to enter Iraqi territory and allow Iraqi trucks loaded with goods to enter Jordan.
The judges added in a press statement that there are final arrangements being put in place to take a decision on allowing the Jordanian and Iraqi trucks to enter the two countries for the purpose of loading the goods, which contributes to the promotion of trade between Jordan and Iraq.

The Jordanian minister pointed to his country's keenness to develop and develop its economic relations with Iraq in various fields, especially commercial ones, and work together with the Iraqi side to overcome any obstacles that may limit the movement of bilateral trade.
The Jordanian judges said allowing Jordanian trucks to enter Iraq and Iraqi trucks to enter Jordan will give a great boost to the trade exchange between the two countries in various fields, stressing that Iraq is one of the most important export markets for Jordanian products and that many Jordanian factories were established for export to the Iraqi market.

Jordan had taken a decision several years ago to prevent the entry of trucks into Iraqi territory and prevented the entry of Iraqi trucks to its territory for security reasons. The exchange was conducted between the two countries through a trade exchange area on the border between them.
"The region did not contribute to the promotion of trade because of the difficulty of loading and unloading the goods by other trucks, in addition to the high costs involved," said the head of the Jordan Exporters Association, Omar Abu Washah, to the new Arab.

He pointed out that allowing trucks to enter the two countries loaded with goods would increase the volume of trade, which has seen a significant decline in the past five years because of the security situation experienced by Iraq and the security risks that surrounded the road between the two countries on the Iraqi territory.

The trade exchange rate between the two countries increased after the re-opening of the border crossing at the end of last August, where the value of Jordanian exports to Iraq to 450 million dollars in 2017, but it did not return to normal levels years ago, amounting to two billion dollars.
For his part, the head of the Union of truck owners Mohammed Khair Aldawood said the decision to lift the ban on the entry of Jordanian trucks to Iraq will contribute to the return of life to the movement of land freight between the two countries and to remove this sector of the crisis suffered by more than five years because of the unrest experienced by Arab countries, particularly Syria, Yemen, Libya and Iraq, are still being removed.

He added that more than 17 thousand Jordanian trucks were operating on land freight lines between Jordan and Arab countries, including Iraq, noting that the land shipping sector suffered cumulative losses of about 1.3 billion dollars because of the crises in the neighborhood.

A Jordanian newspaper reported on Tuesday that Jordanian trucks were waiting for the green light to enter Iraq, while stressing that the volume of trade between the two countries was still “modest”.
“Jordanian trucks loaded with various types of goods unload their cargo on the Jordanian-Iraqi border daily,” the Jordanian Jordan Times reported.
“Jordanian trucks unload their cargo, which is then loaded into Iraqi trucks,” said the head of the association, Mohammed Daoud. “The volume of trade is still modest.”
Before the Iraqi border with Jordan was shut down in 2014 after much of the West’s control over Iraq, some 600 trucks were used to enter Iraq daily, Daoud said.
Following the reopening of the Tarbil border crossing between Jordan and Iraq in late 2017, Jordanian exports resumed.
“Although there are about 80 trucks carrying goods to the Iraqi border every day now, we are still not satisfied,” he said, adding that “trucks going to the border crossing are carrying vegetables, steel, wood, industrial products and other goods.”
“Jordanian trucks in Iraq are expected to be allowed to reach their destinations in neighboring countries in the next few weeks, which will increase the number of trucks operating on the commercial route,” he said.
A truck driver and a resident of Mafraq, Abdullah Isser, said he hoped “Jordanian trucks would be allowed to enter the eastern neighbor as soon as possible.” He said it was “futile to unload our cargo on the border.”
“The Iraqi road was one of the busiest roads for Jordanian trucks, and the work was very good in the past before it was called,” he said. “We have suffered a lot over the past years and we hope to compensate for the losses in the near future.”
Last year, Iraq awarded a contract with a security firm to secure the road linking Baghdad with Berybil, which was seen as a major step to restart trade.
