BAGHDAD – Iraqi Prime Minister, Haidar al-Abadi announced on Sunday (April 2) that the battle to drive Islamic State (ISIS) out of its last stronghold in the country has not prevented the government from implementing reforms

"Corruption is no less harmful than terrorism," Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi said at the Iraq Energy Forum which is sponsored by NRT.

In his speech at the Iraq Energy Forum 2017, Abadi said that the slump in oil prices over the past few years “revealed the fragility of the Iraqi economy.”

Abadi said that "Iraq today plays a leading role in OPEC and is committed to investment plans and stimulating the market," noting that hundreds of billions have been lost because of poor planning.

"Iraq is densely populated because of the increase in population growth, and Iraq requires us to live in regional reconciliation, which we must seek" he continued.

The continuing regional conflict has prevented Iraq from making use of several energy sources and resulted in a financial crisis, Abadi said.

Iraq's revenues have fallen to 30 percent compared to 2013, he added, saying that “we managed to keep success to invest and open up more investment potential.”

The Iraq Energy Forum kicked off on Sunday (April 2) for the third time under the patronage of the Iraqi Government and with sponsorship of NRT HD and NRT Arabic.

Iraq Energy Institute was founded in 2008, as an independent institution, which aims to implement reform in the energy policy in Iraq and support reform attempts supporting legislative reform and scientific research in oil, gas, electricity and renewable energy.

The institute has been appointed as an advising side for the Iraqi Parliament’s Committee of Oil and Energy with its headquarters in London that has Iraqi experts in all energy sectors.

Endless forums, meetings, committees and statements of intent - how about showing the World you're really serious and get the IQD out there in the Front & Center.

If I'm an investor, I want to see your currency on the international stage rather than attend yet another forum talking about "in the near future "  or " in the coming days " crap.

No more talk Iraq; as it is, many people doubt your sincerity and unwillingness on the follow through.

Sympathy on your broken foot. Broke my foot playing High School football. Laid me up for a couple of months and walked using a cane for 2 more months. Had to walk before I could run again. Hope you have a Full recovery and back to running soon.

In the Meantime, as patience continues to evaporate, I pray we have the RV in April. My wife has had quite enough. We don't even speak of it now. She feels foolish for lasting this long (14 yrs.) and it's still all talk. I said " I'll let U know when it hits"  - she said she's not holding her breath -

The sad part: It took Germany 8 yrs after WWII to get their new currency global, and that's after plunging the entire Planet into war and their country razed to the ground. Iraq, no where near that sort of calamity and still in limbo.

Thanks so much for the kind words 10 years later! You've been an inspiration to me since I started reading posts here a few years ago! I figured if you can wait 14 years and still be optimistic, I have nothing to complain about after waiting only about 1/2 that long!

My husband and I still make post RV plans and lists, and talk of "when" and never "if". Gotta keep the faith!

I've been a big believer that al Jabouri will make a difference in leading their parliament. But I have to ask "what country is he talking about now?" They couldn't even get a quorum today and had to cancel the session. They take one and two week breaks on a whim. They haven't tackled anything serious in months and months. Then he states "HOR has spared no energy in attending to energy laws". WHAAAAAT ???  These guys are all fools, liars, thieves. They need to neuter Maliki, fire all of representatives, prioritize all the laws that will benefit citizens and get to work. Every day.
