Tomorrow was supposed to be my last day. I called out sick. I will be officially retired at 1830 on 11/29/2016 

I can't believe it is here.

When I retired @ 50 (60 now) no1 told me about the change u will go thru not being employed n sitting around after all them years of working, Well keep busy and don't let boredom sit in and for what ever reason don't loose u r sense of value. Be creative, I did and it worked well for me it did.

Congrats Toolman!! I retired Sept 2015. Wife and I are caring for three 86 year old parents, one with severe COPD & rapid onset of short term dementia, one with cancer and the other a 2 time stroke victim who is now bedridden and in hospice care, but stabilized at the current condition. Most of this occurred just prior to my retirement. It is taking the majority of our time. Wife could not have handled all this if I had not retired. Very stressful watching your parents deteriate before your eyes.  So our retirement plans are on hold right now, (still try to get away for 4-5 days a couple of times a year) but that's ok, because all of our parents were outstanding parents/people and deserve the care, help, dignity and aid we can give them until their time comes.

Hope your situation is different Toolman and you are able to follow your interests and reward yourself for all the years of work and sacrifice.
