Kurdish lawmaker: There are committees approve the oil agreement between Baghdad and Erbil

MP from the Kurdistan Islamic Group Islam Hussein said today that the oil agreement between Baghdad and Erbil has not entered into force and that there are committees will determine the contents required for approval in the next phase.

Hussein said in an interview that there will be committees of Baghdad and Erbil to discuss the terms of the last-oil agreement, which was agreed upon in principle during a visit by Nechirvan Barzani to Baghdad recently.

And between Hussein that more than one hand made it clear that a successful and acceptable details of the agreement and that the export of oil which will be beneficial to all.

He added: The only solution is necessary meetings and discussions and discuss all the details, noting that there is a committee of competent personalities and concerned oil file will visit Baghdad soon to pass the oil accord officially.

Good morning Yota and DV, 

Iraq can not kick this can down the street any longer, the pressure is coming in from all sides IMF, WTO, Sadr, international community and on and on. Although HCL has not been written in stone (the Gazzette) as of yet, we are are on the precipice of this coming together and I'm convinced that in October we should see it a done deal. 

It is in the Iraqi constitution that part of the oil profits belong to the people, and given the amount of corruption this country has lived and is still living, their are many that don't want to share the wealth.....and we know who they are Again, it is my assumption that Abadi and the international community are building their case against them as we speak, confirmation of this is the articles we see more frequently as of late.

Although it seems like they are beating around the bush, and perhaps they are, one thing for sure is they can't hide the golden eggs for ever, the people, Abadi, Sadr, and the rest involved in rebirth of Iraq, won't allow it.

I agree, ChinaDawg.  I suspect some of the issues are taking more of a leisurely pace and are repeated in the news outlets so as to not stir the pot and loose ground on what has already been agreed and gained.  In my opinion, there may be a few noteworthy events that will transpire in the next couple weeks but likely nothing significantly contrary to the progress already made in the reforms and stabilizing Iraq up to now.  Just up to the 20th, there may be folks (like Maliki) seeing the hand writing on the wall and knowing what it will mean for them who will start to squawk about meaningless things to try to throw attention off themselves.

No worries, just my opinion here. Both sides stated ealier that they are moving forward. Kurds started pumping oil, new Minister of Oil and Gas seems to have thing moving in the right direction.  Just part of the ride.

Interesting that the President of Kurdistan, Barzani, was in Baghdad to make the agreement. NOW, it has to go to committee? Guess they don't trust their president. Sounds like the US of A.
