17th April 2024 in Iraq Industry & Trade News

By John Lee.

At a meeting on Monday between Iraq's Minister of Planning, Mohammed Tameem, and US Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken, Iraq renewed its commitment to joining the World Trade Organization (WTO) and to protect intellectual property rights.

The United States has pledged support for a series of projects under the International Visitor Leadership Program aimed at developing expertise in these areas among Iraqis.

Both parties have recognized the importance of strategic projects and infrastructure development in Iraq, which will support regional integration and enhance international trade.

US support system" rel="">support means WTO membership coming for Iraq.

Just my opinion.L

Go WTO

Go trade

Go imports/ exports

Go economic growth

Go stronger dinar

They cannot join the WTO at their current program rate either so something must already have been decided on with regards to their currency!

@edbeachand @pokerplayer  Vietnam has an internationally traded currency. Iraq doesn't. Theoretically they could return to the forex at the current rate. You can buy and in any country in the world. Can you do that with the dinar? No. Vietnam benefits from a low rate because they are primarily and export country. Iraq is mainly an import country so they would do better with a higher exchange rate. The bigger issue for the WTO is that at the present time the IQD is not exchangeable regardless of rate.

  • BettyBoop Thanks for your info, My comment was I don't believe because they have a low rate would not stop them from becoming a member. I am sure Vietnam has had a low rate for some time after the war we the US had with Vietnam  I had bought my dinar at banks & Traders but not recently have enough.

BettyBoop- Another subject

I have just obtained a puppy of 3 months old from a lady whom was 99 yrs old too much for her to handle. Since you are in Scotland you might have info about my puppy breed, she is a West Highland WhiteTerrier puppy very agressive pup. I understand they were started in Scotland in the 1800"s/ Thanks for any advise you may have.

@edbeach  yes the breed was started here and it is rare for them to be very aggressive. They were initially breed to get badgers out of sets and are really strong wee dogs. They tails are thick and strong because  it used to pull them out the badger set , fox hole or rat holes. Very common as family pets here . Even with young children. LIKE all puppies the need to be properly socialised and trained. I breed shih tzus for many years and I can safely say they were all well bread and socialised. I know because I know where every puppy went and I still have  their families on my fb page, so I get regular updates. Did you know your puppy is like a polar bear? Polar bears have black skin and so do westies. They are normally very funny sociable wee dogs. It might just be her puppy teeth causing the aggression but please address it ASAP. They can also be prone to allergies and diabetes in later life  Best of luck with her.

Has Vietnam ever had a strong currency exchange rate value , asking for a friend .

As far as I am aware it was quote strong before the war. I did read many moons ago it was 10 bucks to 1 VND but I am not sure how accurate it was . I don't believe it would ever be close to that now.
