Close to the National: Re-opening the nomination for the presidency is unconstitutional and will be challenged

{Political: Al Furat News} A close associate of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan described the parliament's presidency's decision to reopen the nomination for the post of President of the Republic as "unconstitutional."

Commenting on the procedure, Tariq Gohar said: "The decision was not based on any legal or constitutional article."

"The decision will certainly be appealed to the Federal Supreme Court," he added.

He held the position of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Presidency of the House of Representatives held a meeting today, Tuesday, to discuss the issue of electing the President of the Republic, given the expiry of the constitutional period specified for the election according to Article (72/Second/B) of the Constitution without electing a President of the Republic, and decided during the meeting, “Opening the door for nomination for the position of President of the Republic starting tomorrow Wednesday and for a period of 3 days, based on the provisions of the Law No. (8) of 2012 on the nomination for the post of President of the Republic.
