Middle East is preparing for the birth of the state of Kurdistan

Is the dream of the Kurds achieved a unified and independent state?

Nasr al-Majali : A Russian report predicts that things are going on in the Middle East to the possibility of establishing a new independent state in the Middle East, and it is about Kurdistan, a permanent issue since the end of World War I, where this strategic region was distributed among several countries.

The newspaper "Ninizavisimaya Gazeta" that Turkey has shown its willingness to cooperate with Iran in the fight against the PKK in Iraqi territory. This comes within the framework of Ankara's efforts to consolidate Turkey's positions in the region.

The newspaper added: Because this is contrary to what Israel wants, the Israeli leadership began to discuss the issue of Kurdish independence. The Likud Party in Israel's parliament called on the representative of Yoav Kish to call for Israel to support Kurdish efforts to establish an independent state.

Frederick Hoff, a former State Department official, told the paper that this showed a good relationship between Israel and the Kurds, especially between the Jewish state and the Kurdistan government in Iraq.

Israeli researcher Yelzavita Tsurkova told the newspaper Nezavisimaya Gazeta that Israeli officials met with Kurdish leaders in Syria.

Huff, a former State Department official, did not rule out, however, that Israel would not give new impetus to the efforts to establish a state for the Kurds, saying that the aim of Israeli initiatives of this kind could be limited to disturbing Ankara.

3 countries

According to the Kurds, the Greater Kurdistan region includes parts of three modern states, Turkey, Iran and Iraq, and Iran and Iraq recognize Kurdish areas on their territory, and Turkey and Syria do not recognize this. In addition, Kurdish minorities live in other regions, such as Armenia, Azerbaijan and northeastern Syria.

It is noteworthy that the word Kurdistan as a geographical term was first used in the twelfth century AD in the Seljuk era, when the Seleucid Sultan Sanger separated the western section of the territory of the mountains and made it under the rule of his relative Suleiman Shah and called it Kurdistan.

According to historical, undocumented narratives, this territory included the lands between Azerbaijan and Lurstan (Sna, Dinur, Hamdan and Kermanshah regions), as well as the areas west of the Zagros Mountains, such as Sharh Zawr and Kuwayn Suh Najq.

Kurdistan is mainly divided into four countries (Iraq, Iran, Turkey and Syria), and the Kurds are spread in some countries that were created on the ruins of the former Soviet Union. Greater Kurdistan is about the size of modern Iraq.

Estimates vary from 30 to 35 million Kurds, 20% in Turkey (15 million), 15% in Iran (10 million), 20% in Iraq (6 million), 5% in Syria (2 million) .

Turkey

In Turkey, the Kurds are concentrated in 21 of Turkey's 90 provinces, located in eastern and south-eastern Turkey: Erzangan Erzurum Kars Maltiye Tongli Ilazig Bengol Mogh Agri Batman Ady Yaman Diyarbakir Sirt Patelis Wan Shanli Arafa Mardin Hakkari Charnak - Gaziantep - Marash.

Iran

In Iran, Kurds are concentrated in western Iran in the western states of Azerbaijan to the west of Lake Urmia, Mako, Kutur, Shahpur, and in the south of the lake in the area of Mahabad. Buchan, Sardasht and the state of Kurdistan, Banha, Dahlan, Bijar, Mariwan, Kermanshah, Shireen Rwanser, Guanarod, Pauh, and Wallayeh Eilam with its capital, Ilam. Kherand Gharb, Dahlran and Sankar.

The Kurdish luris occupy the states of Lurstan, Khar Mahal Bakhtiari and Buir Ahmad, and there are isolated Kurdish areas in Khorasan, Fars, Kerman, Qom and Tehran.

Iraq

In Iraq, the Kurds are concentrated in the northern and north-eastern brigades: Sulaymaniyah, Erbil, Kirkuk, Dohuk, Sinjar and Aqra provinces. As well as in the Khanaqin and Mandali areas of Diyala province, where they are adjacent to the Kurds of Iran to the west of the Zagros Mountains, as well as in Badra and Jassan districts of Wasit province (Lesseristan).

Syria and the rest of the world

Kurds are concentrated in the north-east of Syria, bordering Kurds in Turkey on the island of Furatiya (Al-Hasakah governorate), where they spread in the areas of Al-Hasakah, Al-Qamishli, Malakiya, Ras Al-Ain, Amouda, (province of Allepo).

The Kurds in Armenia live around the capital Yerevan, Nakhkwan and in Azerbaijan are concentrated in the Karagakh region.

In the rest of the world, Kurds live outside these countries. There are Kurdish communities in the former Soviet Union countries such as Russia, Tajikistan, Georgia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Baluchistan, Lebanon and many other countries.

It would not surprise me if an independent state of Kurdistan happens soon or in the next few years.. when my Kurdish friend and I used to talk daily, he always said this topic is the Kurdish Parliments number 1 objective.. I’m fairly surprised it hasn’t happened yet to be honest..

I would have to agree with you. With Iran cutting off water and border crossing you know the future is not good unless they are independent.
