I am with You on not doing something for nothing. My opinion, I do think that up to and since the Shah was deposed (nominally 1979) the US foreign policy on Iran has been weak at best to non existent (or even tacitly pro-Iranian from a recent past administration). The current Iranian elites has had and has a huge bent to dominate at least the region by promoting extreme terrorism of various forms while Iran appears to be ever more experienced, capable, and expanding in Iran's objective(s).

http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/shah-flees-iran

My opinion is the temporal intervention to oust the current Iranian regime is far less of a "cost" than the accumulated cost to date with much greater costs in the future if Iran is left as is. I have heard that there is sub surface disenchantment in Iran with the Ayatollah/Khomeini and other Iranian elites. Selective psy ops and influences here and there may bring about a favorable out come for the Iranian people (not the extremist or militarized) and get Iran out of other country's business (like Iraq).

Disenfranchised people groups have been used extensively for major political upheavals and reforms. Selective, secured, and sustained changes in favor of the Iranian people is likely an appropriate endeavor so Iran is an asset instead of a liability to the region and the world. I realize this is a greatly over simplified view with other major world powers (like Russia) that may only care about their objectives in the country and region to expand their own agenda and not care at all about the garden variety Iranian (non extremist).

Just my opinion and :twocents:

The Ministry of Defense publishes new evidence to support and arm the "coalition" of the terrorist organizations in Syria .. Saudi Arabia provided the terrorists with 15,000 missiles US-Video

Damascus-Sana

The Ministry of Defense today published new evidence exposing the role of the Israeli occupation entity and the US-led "international coalition" in supporting and financing terrorist organizations in Syria with weapons and ammunition.

The ministry said in a report published today, and received a copy of Sana, that since the beginning of the war on Syria, "the seizure and confiscation of large quantities of weapons and ammunition Western-made in different parts of Syria, where US weapons were found in the dens of terrorist advocates and other terrorist organizations."

The ministry revealed that "the supply operations are carried out through different channels and through companies in Eastern European countries linked to the US security agencies and NATO countries and then reach Turkey or Saudi Arabia through European ports or through the American base Ramstein on German territory," explaining that "was provided Terrorists "and" the Front of victory "with missiles, guns, machine guns, anti-aircraft and even tanks in exchange for terrorists to give oil to those countries from wells seized in Syria and Iraq.

After the liberation of eastern Aleppo from the terrorists of the Front Nasra and the liberation of the regions of the provinces of Homs, Hama, Aleppo and Dirzur of the terrorists "Daash" The ministry said that "the Syrian Arab Army found weapons and ammunition of Bulgarian origin and countries in Eastern Europe," noting that this confirms that the United States and its allies Is arming terrorists of various types of weapons at the time it declares the fight against "Dahesh."

The report revealed that "providing the Israeli occupation entity to organize the front of the terrorist victory and other terrorist groups across the occupied Syrian territories with different types of weapons to kill the Syrians."

The report pointed out that there are other channels to supply terrorists on Syrian territory with weapons and ammunition. These are the assistance programs for the so-called "moderate Syrian opposition" from the administration of former President Barack Obama at a time when these weapons were supplied to terrorists and examples of That is what has become clear, as it has been published through social networking sites to use the militants of the "victory front" American-made anti-tank missiles.

The report pointed out that all fighters returning to the so-called "free army" trained and armed from the Americans on Turkish territory in September 2015 announced their joining the organization of the front of the terrorist victory after sending them to Syrian territory and the same happened with the fighters trained in Jordan, "The terrorist reminded the mind in this regard, the joining of large groups of" Noor al-Din al-Zanki "movement, which is covered by US aid to the Front of victory affiliated with the" Liberation of the Sham "after the liberation of eastern Aleppo.

The report stressed that the statement by the current US administration of Donald Trump to stop the aid program for the so-called free army "is an attempt to deceive the international community."

The Defense Department report quoted US Defense Department representative Adrienne Reinkin Kalois as saying on May 31 that the United States had begun supplying weapons to groups "in order to help eliminate terrorists." Dollars.

The report revealed that the information available to the Department of Defense indicates that the United States between 5 June and 15 September 2017 supplied 1421 truckloads of military aid to the groups "Qdd", as confirmed by the representative of the Pentagon to the Turkish Anatolia, where he said: "During the period The latter supplied 12,000 Kalashnikov rifles, 6,000 submachine guns, 3500 medium machine guns, 3000 rocket launchers (RPGs), 1000 launchers (AT4), 235 mortars, 100 snipers and 450 night-vision sights to areas under the control of Qusd.

The report pointed out that "the weapons and ammunition supplied not only include US-made weapons, but also Soviet models are likely to have been previously supplied to the Warsaw Pact States and are currently purchased from these countries," continued: "Although the claim that the supply of these weapons was to fight" "Ultimately, they are in the hands of terrorists to use them later to carry out their dirty crimes. This is a result of the lack of scrutiny of the hands of those who were intended to inflame the war on Syrian territory." This is contrary to the UN Arms Trade Agreement 2014, which states that, The occurrence of weapons in The hands of terrorists for use in the implementation of crimes and human rights violations, the supply of these weapons is illegal and must be canceled immediately supply.

The report stressed that Article 11 of the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty provides for monitoring the flow of arms to the intended recipient and requires countries to take a number of measures to prevent their leak, stating that "States that sell weapons to the Saudi regime, the Sheikh of Qatar, the Turkish regime, Jordan and the Israeli occupation entity do not conduct an assessment of potential risks Provided for in article 7 of the Treaty on the Taking of Arms into the Hands of Terrorists and as a Result of Violation of International Laws. "

The report pointed out that the weapons purchased from the system of the Central and Eastern European countries "do not correspond to a large extent with the system of armaments and military equipment in Saudi Arabia, where the practical reality shows that Saudi Arabia is not the end user of these weapons are being sent back to the terrorists in Syria."

The report also revealed that "not long ago, Bulgarian-made weapons were spotted in the liberated territories of Dahesh. As a result, the terrorists are fighting with Bulgarian-made weapons bought by America. The same thing happened in Afghanistan in the 1980s when the United States, Thus, al-Qaeda and the Taliban got their weapons.

The report pointed out that during the recent events in the eastern Ghouta and the eastern neighborhoods of Damascus, "compelling evidence has been gathered that the terrorists are using foreign weapons and ammunition. Fragments of foreign-made munitions were filmed in serial numbers where the terrorists regularly bombarded residential areas in Damascus and its environs."

"After the Obama administration's decision to lift the ban on the delivery of deadly weapons to terrorist groups, Saudi Arabia bought from the United States 15 thousand anti-tank missiles (Tao) at a cost of one billion dollars and later found that these anti-tank weapons actually appeared in Syria in 2014 They were soon used by the terrorists against the Syrian Arab Army. "

The report said that "the flow of these large quantities of weapons to Syria in conjunction with the arrival of 20 thousand foreign fighters, mostly from Turkey helped to turn the" front of victory "the arm of al-Qaeda in Syria and its affiliated groups to become one of the strongest groups fighting against the Syrian Arab Army and paved the way for the emergence "Despite the ban on the export of arms to Syria, two million missiles and a C-TYPE 4000 missile were sent from Bulgaria via Saudi Arabia and signed into the hands of terrorists in Aleppo," he said.

The ministry's report revealed that "on December 19, during the demining of the Al-Sakhour area in eastern Aleppo, multiple munitions, including US-made munitions, were found in 60mm mortar rounds, including grenades."

The Ministry of Defense concluded its report by pointing out that "geographical proximity and low export controls have created favorable conditions for some countries to benefit from the arms trade, especially with the help of the United States in most cases." The United States has helped its allies to provide weapons to terrorist groups And supplied modern weapons to inflame the situation in Syria and these weapons eventually reach the hands of the terrorists of the "Front of victory" and "Daash" and therefore Washington is responsible for expanding areas of influence of "Dahesh" and "Front of victory" in Syria.

After a recent US Senate resolution to tighten the ban on Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Saudi government welcomed the decision because it was in line with its views on the region.

Following the issuance of this resolution, the Saudi Minister for Arab Affairs, "Thamer Al-Sobhan" in a tweet published on his Twitter account to form an international coalition against "Hezbollah"

"US sanctions against Hezbollah are good but not sufficient to confront them, and an international coalition must be formed to achieve regional security and peace," he said.

The new US sanctions on Hezbollah include tightening of assets freeze, blocking financial transactions, banning visas to the United States, and prosecuting individuals and entities linked to Hezbollah.

It also includes the possibility of imposing sanctions on states if they provide military or financial support to Hezbollah or an associated entity.

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah responded to al-Sabhan's statements, accusing Saudi Arabia of carrying out a policy aimed at destroying the region.

Nasrallah said in a speech on Sunday that "Al-Sbahan's statement confirms what I said earlier about international alliances to confront the resistance," calling on Riyadh to stop interfering in the affairs of other countries, and away from conspiring with America and the Israeli entity against the peoples of the region.

"The statement that the sanctions against Hezbollah can not be bet on, and that the resistance represents a major force can not be met, and also confirms that the rulers of Riyadh can not do anything, and therefore they demand an international coalition against Hezbollah."

"Today we are facing a new US-Saudi project aimed at confronting Iran and the axis of resistance that has overthrown the American-Zionist project throughout the region," he said.

The question is: Why does Saudi Arabia seek to weaken Hezbollah and insists on conspiring with America and the Zionist entity to achieve this goal?

The answer to this question can be summed up as follows:

The influence of Hezbollah in Lebanon

Lebanon is one of the most important countries in the region because of its proximity to occupied Palestine. Therefore, America and its Saudi ally fear the strength of this country for its direct impact on changing the equation of the conflict against the Zionist entity, which represents Hezbollah the pole in this equation.

This fact was clearly crystallized after Hezbollah's great victory over the Zionist entity in July 2006. This victory contributed to raising the level of popular support for the resistance and for Mr. Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon and throughout the region.

Hezbollah also played an important role in resolving the election of Lebanese President Michel Aoun and also contributed effectively to the formation of the current Lebanese government headed by Saad Hariri after a political crisis that lasted for more than two years. This clearly reflects the positive and constructive influence of Hezbollah on the overall The situation in the Lebanese arena.

Hezbollah is a role model in the Arab world

The victories achieved by Hezbollah have contributed to the Israeli army in crystallizing a model to be followed by many of the Arab peoples who are calling on their governments to support the resistance to liberate the occupied Palestinian lands from the clutches of the Zionist entity. This, of course, does not appeal to America, Saudi Arabia and their Western and regional allies because it clearly reflects Hezbollah's popularity among the Arab world.

The victories of resistance in Syria

Hezbollah has contributed great victories to terrorist groups in Syria, which have the support of Saudi Arabia and other countries in the region. This has overshadowed the Riyadh authorities and made them flounder in their decisions towards the axis of resistance over the past years as a key link in the implementation of the Zionist project throughout the region.

It should also be noted that Hezbollah is highly respected by all the resistance forces in the region, including the popular crowd in Iraq and Ansar Allah in Yemen. This undoubtedly raises the indignation of Saudi Arabia, which has waged an unjust aggression against Yemen for more than two and a half years, and also supports terrorist groups in Iraq as part of its policy of weakening the resistance axis to serve the American-Zionist project in the region.

Finally, it should be recalled that Saudi Arabia seeks to normalize its relations with the Zionist entity. Therefore, it sees Hezbollah and the rest of the resistance axis as an obstacle to achieving this goal because the resistance insists on the need to liberate the occupied Palestinian territories and rejects any regional or international project that would Occupation Entity. This has contributed significantly to strengthening Hezbollah's position among the peoples of the region, which is well aware that the resistance, which is strongly supported by Iran, is the only reliable hope to restore the dignity of the nation and achieve its aspirations and ambitions to defeat the Zionist entity and its Western and regional protectors,

Islamic state fighters surrender in al-Raqqa

KUBANI, Syria (Reuters) - Dozens of fighters from the Islamic state's al-Raqqa, their former stronghold in Syria, surrendered to Syria's democratic forces, which are on the verge of taking over the entire city.

While several sources said they were preparing to evacuate foreign fighters in the extremist organization of the city, the Washington-based international coalition said they were barred from leaving Al-Raqqa, while the US defense secretary said Washington would accept their "surrender."

On the other front with the organization of the Islamic state, the Syrian army and its allies on Saturday regained control of the city of Mayadeen, one of the last strongholds of the Organization of the Islamic State in Syria, according to official media quoted a military source.

The military source said that "units of our armed forces in cooperation with the allied and allied forces regain control of the city of Mayadim in Deir Al-Zour (east) and eliminate large numbers of terrorists and urged," adding that the government forces "chasing remnants of the organization urging the fugitive from the city."

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, for its part, said that all the Syrian fighters in the extremist organization had come out of thinness with their families.

"In the past 24 hours, about 100 terrorists from the Islamic State Organization surrendered in al-Raqqa and were taken out of the city," the international coalition said.

A local official in the province of Raqqa said earlier that fighters from the radical organization in Raqqa surrendered overnight to Syria's democratic forces, stressing that they were "local and not foreigners", without specifying their number. "The foreigners have not surrendered yet."

"Foreign fighters are not allowed to leave Al-Raqqa," the coalition said.

"If they surrender (the elements of the organization), of course we will accept their surrender," US Defense Secretary James Matisse said Friday. "But the most fanatic will not allow it."

"They are preventing civilians from fleeing to our positions and will fight to the end," he said.

The coalition said on Saturday that elements of the extremist organization remaining in the city of Raqqa were Syrians and foreigners.

The fate of foreigners

But the head of the Syrian Observatory Rami Abdul Rahman said on Saturday that "all the Syrian fighters in the organization of the Islamic state from the city of Raqqa during the past five days," noting that the number of about two hundred, and "went out with their families" to unspecified destinations.

He spoke of "negotiations between the Syrian democratic forces and the organization of the Islamic state to get out of foreign fighters who demand to leave in one go towards their areas of control in the province of Deir al-Zour" in the east of the country.

Abdul Rahman estimated the number of foreign fighters to be "maximum 150".

Several sources said there were buses waiting outside the city of Al-Rigga, likely to drive the rest of the extremist fighters.

"The buses are currently parked in a village and will be sent to take them and take them later to Deir al-Zour," a military source in Raqqa said.

Nuri Mahmoud, a spokesman for the Kurdish People's Protection Forces, the backbone of Syria's democratic forces, denied any negotiations to remove Islamic state fighters from the last pockets in the city of Raqqa.

There is never any negotiation or agreement, "he said.

about to finish

The operations led by Syria's democratic forces have been nearing an end since June 6, with the organization's fighters largely confined to the city center, where they are holed up in the national hospital and the municipal stadium, as well as in several buildings in surrounding neighborhoods.

"We are going to end up with the military attack that we are preparing for," he said.

With the air support of the international coalition, the Syrian Democratic Forces managed to expel the extremist organization from about 90 percent of the capital.

The international coalition of raids, arms and advisers supports the Syrian Democratic Forces (Kurdish and Arab factions) in the battles it has been waging for more than four months in Raqqa.

The fighting has prompted tens of thousands of civilians to flee, while 8,000 remain stranded in the city, according to the latest UN estimates.

The coalition said on Saturday that about 1,500 civilians had been able to reach the areas controlled by Syria's forces.

The International Alliance announced days ago the talks conducted by the Council of civil tender, which includes representatives of the most prominent tribes of Raqqa, to ensure safe passage for civilians used by jihadists as human shields. The Syrian Observatory said negotiations also included fighters.

Several areas in Syria have been besieged by fighters of the Islamic State Organization, which led to the departure of the organization's fighters, which took place on May 10 in the town of Al-Taba, some 50 kilometers west of Raqqa.

Hundreds of al-Qaeda fighters were evacuated with family members at the end of August from a border area between Lebanon and Syria to eastern Syria, under an agreement with Lebanese Hezbollah.

Later, reports said the convoy of those heading to Deir al-Zour in eastern Syria was hit by coalition aircraft. Other reports said the convoy was lost for days in the desert, and the fighters were reported to have moved to areas in Iraq or the Syrian border town of Deir al-Zour.
