Luigi1
Car dealers say a spike in BMW, Mercedes, Land Rover & Lexus car sales as many GIs returning from Iraq with ID in hand put down payments on high end autos. A mini auto sales boom in the area has been reported in anticipation of ID RV. May be a little premature but sales are booming. I was just looking for a mini van for my handicapped wife when the dealers told me they were out of many popular models. Has ID investors in your area also gone on shopping sprees in anticipation of the ID RV? Bad mistake I say if the RV don't happen as planned. 7
TC987
I agree it is a bad idea, as Iraq is notorious for finding something to delay this process. I won't be placing any special orders, or making any special purchases until the cash is in the bank

I'm looking for a new one. Money has been set aside already. My wife just had a knee & hip replacement. I'm not counting on the RV. I'm looking for a new one. Money has been set aside already. My wife just had a knee & hip replacement. I'm not counting on the RV. I'm not in the market for a luxury car. After RV, I will invest my money & give it to my family when I'm gone. I will still live frugal.

Did ya think about the pay/hazzard duty-combat pay that they have put up since being deployed? Not like they can go to the store or to the club and blow it.... How about the signing bonus, when they re-enlist? Bet ya didn't think of that either..........

don't look back
The way to get out of debt and to live debt free is to "never presume upon one's future". What a beautiful gift this will be, when, if it comes. I believe this is the time to continue seeking wisdom. Blessings, to all, Pj

Slappy
They are buying luxury cars because they are coming back from a war zone with a ton of tax free money. Happened during the first Gulf War as well. With COLA pay etc..you guys will grasp at any news and directly push it towards the RV/RI. Only a hand full of people on the planet will know when it is going to RV, not these knuckle head gurus. Believe non of what you hear and half of what you see. That is my opinion....and to my leatherneck friends over seas I say thank you and stay small...

Hmmm...four major, high-end auto manufacturers. For returning troops, you'd think at least a couple of 'em would be Honda, Toyota, Ford or Chevy. Sounds like people expecting a whole lot more $$ than combat pay...just sayin'...

FoxyRoxy
I got my cars picked out after RV. No luxury cars. A new Mazda 5 mini van for my wife & a diesel VW Jetta for me. I haven't shopped one single bit, for anything at all (don't want to be disappointed in the event of a NONevent -- lol). But I was in Vegas last week and saw this GORGEOUS red convertible Camaro on display in the casino, going 'round and 'round and 'round...shiny, sleek, very girlie..ooo la laaaaa.... :woot: I plan to buy everything as AMERICAN as I can get, no foreign labels if I can help it (I believe Camaro is made in Canada, but it's still North America). Gooooo RVeeeeeeeee!!!! :woot: Edited July 5, 2011 by FoxyRoxy
LDR
High end car aren't being bought because of the pending R/V. It because soldiers have been in a combat area and realize life can end at any moment and they have saved a good deal of combat pay, etc... Just like in the outside world many military members live by what the monthly payment is, not the over all price of the goods. Don't read into something that is not. I deal with this everyday. Nothing new!
