ronscarpa
Al-Khazali: There should be no complacency regarding the exit of foreign and American forces from Iraq PoliticsIraqBreakingAl-Khazali 2024-04-09 // 23:22 Shafaq News / The Secretary-General of the Asaib Ahl al-Haq group, Qais al-Khazali, stressed on Wednesday the necessity of not tolerating the exit of all foreign forces, including American ones, from Iraqi territory, considering the success of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani’s visit to the United States of America dependent on this exit. . Al-Khazali said in an Eid prayer sermon that he delivered to a gathering of worshipers in Baghdad, “The issue of the exit of foreign forces, led by the American forces, is fundamental and strategic and must not be neglected,” adding, “This presence is illegal and illegitimate.” He added, "There are some politicians who defend the foreign presence and they only represent themselves," adding that the position of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani and the Iraqi framework and resistance is clear in not agreeing to the continuation of this illegitimate and illegal presence. Al-Khazali stressed that “there is no room for these forces to remain,” addressing them, “and if you do not learn and understand this message, then there is full justification for resisting this illegal and illegal presence by all means, most notably military operations,” stressing that “the American exit is inevitable.” https://www.shafaq.com/ar/سیاسة/الخزعلي-يجب-لا-يحصل-تهاون-في-موضوع-خروج-القوات-الاجنبية-والامريكية-من-العراق 4 1
coorslite21
No telling where this might go..... The Green Zone in Baghdad covers 4 sq miles and the US Embassy encompasses 104 acres which is about 4.5 million sq ft.....roughly the size if the US Pentagon or the Vatican. It is major US hub for surveillance in the region. Watch Biden walk away from that, leaving everything behind..... CL

NWGUY
I would hate to see what life would be like if NATO wasn't there protecting them. Soon enough though, if and when they actually revalue their currency, we should get out of there, and let them get a complete education on protecting themselves! Sadly, I don't care what happens to them!
JonnyV
Don’t worry. That fool Al-Khazali has no say in the matter. He’s an Iranian puppet The US is staying in some capacity as per the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) which will be revealed some time in the future.

CL I would hope that American diplomats could remain with a presence…one of friendship and cooperation, in a spirit a kin to Alexandria centuries ago. While at the same time relinquishing all all American military personnel to being outside of the region, a show of trust with the lives of our diplomats. The fine line of military advisor will always remain, one that can be present without troops on the ground. I would hope that advisors in the fields of engineering would also be present to help with infrastructure and technological development. 1
