DinarThug
LINK 17th November, 2019 A senior White House official told Al-Arabiya television that the United States would impose sanctions if Iraqi officials were found to be involved in cracking down on demonstrations, noting that Washington knew that Qassem Soleimani was suppressing the protests and was in Baghdad. The US official said in an exclusive interview with "Al Arabiya.net" that the situation in Iraq is very bad and there are many deaths among young people, we do not want to give the impression that the United States is intervening in Iraq because some will use this and use it as evidence of Western intervention and this is the case In Lebanon, where there are accusations that we are behind the demonstrations, but we know that Iran is behind the attempts to suppress the revolutions. "The Iranian intervention in Iraq is clear and we know that Qassem Soleimani went to Baghdad and told the government how to suppress these demonstrations and the Iranians know how to achieve this goal. We know there are reports that his sniper was behind the killing of many demonstrators." "We have even seen Iraqi football players wearing a mask on their face in a football match against Iran in solidarity with the demonstrators, and although solidarity is symbolic, it will attract world attention," he said. "We discussed the demonstration in Iraq as well as the situation in Lebanon and Syria at the meeting of the strategic alliance in the Middle East, known as Mesa, which includes the Gulf Cooperation Council countries along with Egypt and Jordan in order to come up with a unified international response on Iraq." "We appreciate the role of the United Nations and its mission in Iraq. I think it can help support new elections and review the electoral law so that the new government is in a better position to meet the needs of the Iraqi citizen," he said. Campaign of violence Abizaid . "But we want to find other ways to support the demonstrators, and I think it's in providing medical aid to the protesters." "We see a reaction from the Iraqi people and the demonstrators, which is hostile to Iran in nature, and it will be difficult to arrest them only with a campaign of violence and arrests, and this will be condemned in the Security Council and by the international community." "This may be the best way to reverse Iran's influence in Iraq," the official said. "We will not hesitate to impose sanctions on Iraqi officials, including banning the entry of the United States and freezing their assets. We have done this in the past with our NATO ally. "We are also constrained by Congress's law not to provide weapons to the security services in Iraq if they are found to be involved in human rights abuses. So we warned our partners in the Iraqi government as well as the security forces if they crack down on the demonstrators, we will stop supporting them. "The investigation and review of all military assistance provided by the United States to Iraq are its values and this applies to Iraq and Lebanon." 1

DinarThug
LINK Secret documents published for the first time explain how Iran exercises power in Iraq 18th November, 2019 A leaked classified Iranian intelligence document showed how the regime in Tehran exercises power in Iraq through Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani, the New York Times reported on Monday. The unprecedented leaks reveal Tehran's "tremendous" influence in Iraq, which shows years of hard work by Iranian spies to choose the country's leaders, pay the salaries of Iraqi proxies working for the Americans to change their positions and infiltrate every aspect of political, economic and religious life in Iraq. Iraq. According to an Iranian intelligence cable, the current prime minister, Adel Abdul Mahdi, worked in exile closely with Iran while Saddam Hussein was in power in Iraq. The cable indicates that Abdul Mahdi had a special relationship with Iran's Revolutionary Guards when he was oil minister in 2014. According to the newspaper, one of the former senior US officials warned of his current downfall, "but no Iraqi politician can become prime minister without the blessing of Iran. When he became prime minister in 2018, he was seen as a compromise candidate acceptable to both Iran and the United States. It offers an extraordinary glimpse into the Iranian secret regime. They also detail the extent to which Iraq has fallen under Iranian influence since the US invasion in 2003, which has turned Iraq into a gateway to Iranian power, linking the geography of the Islamic Republic to domination from the shores of the Persian Gulf to the Mediterranean. According to the newspaper, the Iranian intelligence reports that were leaked confirms largely what was already known about Iran's firm grip on Iraqi politics. But far more than previously known reports reveal the extent to which Iran and the United States are using Iraq as a launching pad for spy games. The reports highlighted the complex domestic policy of the Iranian government, where rival factions are grappling with many of the same challenges faced by US occupation forces as they struggle to stabilize Iraq after the US invasion. The documents show how, at almost every turn, Iran has outperformed the United States in the competition for influence. The archive consisted of hundreds of reports and leaks mainly written in 2014 and 2015 by officers of Iran's Ministry of Intelligence and Security, who were working in the field in Iraq. 1

DinarThug
The New York Times documents: Who are the Iraqi officials that Iran has put in its pocket? by vBulletin® by Ali EjamNews IraqTwo Hours ago Follow “احات التحريرÇ التحرير Çá التحرير التحريرÑíÑ” The rise of ISIS has driven a wedge between the Obama administration and a large group of Iraqi political class. President Obama has pushed for the overthrow of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki as a condition for renewed US military support. He believes that Mr. Maliki's brutal policies and crackdowns on Iraqi Sunnis have helped the rise of militants. Maliki was a favorite of Tehran. His replacement, Haider al-Abadi, who was educated in Britain, was seen as more friendly to the West and less sectarian. Faced with the uncertainty of a new prime minister, then-Iranian Ambassador Hassan Dana'i Far, Iran's ambassador at the time, called for a secret meeting of senior officials at the embassy building, a huge fortified building outside Baghdad's Green Zone. As the meeting progressed, it became clear that the Iranians had no reason to worry about the new Iraqi government. Mr Abadi was considered a “British man” and a “candidate for the Americans” but the Iranians thought they had a lot of other ministers in their pocket. One by one, Danny Farr listed the cabinet members, describing their relations with Iran. Maliki and former Iranian ambassador Hassan Danae Far * Ibrahim al-Jaafari, who was former Iraqi prime minister and by late 2014 was foreign minister, was identified, like Mr. Adel Abdul Mahdi, as having a “special relationship” with Iran. * Ministers of Municipalities, Communications and Human Rights “in perfect harmony and one with us and our people.” * The Minister of Environment “works with us, although he is Sunni.” Bayan Jabr, who led the Iraqi Interior Ministry at a time when hundreds of prisoners were tortured to death by Shiite death squads - “very close” to Iran. * The Iraqi Minister of Education, the report says, "We will not have a problem with him." The former municipal, communications and human rights ministers are all members of the Badr Organization, a political and military group that Iran founded in the 1980s to oppose Saddam Hussein. link 1
