That is why I advocate a complete boycott of all cable subscriptions. That is how the LSM gets paid, and to tell you the truth you'll get much better news from social media. Though you will have to do some research to discern what is BS and what is real.

It'd be nice to only get the channels we like - 

NatGeo, TCM, History, Military, Hallmark, BYU, RFDTV, TVLand, AnimalPlanet, A&E, Travel, BBC, HGTV and FOOD.

But they force these 'package' plans on ya and won't allow a 14 channel a la carte option !

We'd cancel and watch on the computer,

but we're SO techDUMB it'd take us a week to figure out how to look for, much less watch a show !

From the responses, I gather these babbling bobble heads are on TV shows I've never watched.  Well, when their shows are deservedly cancelled, I sure won't hire them because they are idiots.  Guess that makes me a racist in their 1984 version of a thesaurus.  Just further proof of the malicious indoctrination centers that our schools have become.  For more, see today's (12/23/16) Wall Street Journal article that reported a poll of Millennials that revealed that 70% of them would seriously consider a Socialist candidate for POTUS, and with neutral to positive views of Lenin, Stalin, Castro, etc.  To save this country we must shut down the federal Department of Education, and provide federal funds for ELHI only in the form of vouchers redeemable only in private or charter schools.

I fail to understand why people are still taking anything given through the LSM as legitimate news. They are the true purveyors of fake news. So the pole you quote is simply BS as far as I'm concerned. How many millennials do you know that actually think communism is better than what we now have? I can't find one. Most of the channels you listed are on something called "Sling Tv"

20 bucks a month and it will stream to your tv from your wireless internet.

We do have a sling box we take in the giant van whilst traveling, but thought it could only work based on the

DirecTv package/box back at the house...? Has the technology changed where all we need is the Sling Box and

our laptops now...?  Can we still program our shows to record like being in the living room back at home...?

Because now we just bring up the 'saved' stuff from the box at home and watch like that.

And how do we watch Sling Box stuff on our giant Flat Screen if we don't have the DirecTv box, and are bringing up

the shows on the lap top...?

Roku is a 2x2 box with a hdmi connector direct to your tv.

Built in wireless net card connects to your internet. I do not know of a way to record.

in the menu of the Roku is Sling, Hulu, etc.

my Wife wants local tv also so I started with a subscription to cbs all access. 10 bucks a month. No commercials!

 

it strikes me as being a end terminal to a giant dvr.

i measured the bandwidth it was using out of curiosity WOW! Don't use it with your cell phones hotspot!

one nights viewing totals about 15 gig of data!

very easy to use.

biggest trouble not having cable is I feel like I am missing something being not plugged in.

ah well the red pill has its drawbacks!

roku is what you need to get started.

cheapest is about 29.00

if you listen to knss 1330 at the top and bottom of each hour you'll get a brief rundown on the news. I have found that if I hear anything on knss I go straight to Dinar Vets and it's usually always posted here first. As a trucker I find myself to be very much in the know and as you well understand I haven't had cable for 10 years.
