SocalDinar
Russia spots 12,000 oil-smuggling trucks on Turkey-Iraq border December 25, 2015 12:59 GMT Russian President Vladimir Putin: Russia repeatedly accuses Turkey of being involved in oil trade with Islamic State (Isis) - Getty Images Russian intelligence has spotted nearly 12,000 oil-smuggling trucks near the Turkey-Iraq border, a top official in Moscow said. Russian forces have found the oil route during its reconnaissance missions and said the vehicles' final destination was Turkey. "As of the moment of surveillance in the Zaho area, there were 11,775 fuel tanker trucks on both sides of the Turkish-Iraqi border. As many as 4,530 of them were on the territory of Turkey and 7,245 in Iraq," Russia's General Staff Main Operations Department's chief Sergey Rudskoy told reporters. Why advertise with us The lieutenant general added: "It must be noted that oil from both Iraq and Syria come through this [Zaho] checkpoint." Satellite images of the heavy-duty trucks show the key route runs from Deir-ez-Zor province, which is controlled by Islamic State (Isis), through the border regions in Syria and eventually leads to Mosul, Iraq. The path, known as "eastern-route" in the region, was actively used by the IS (Daesh) militants to boost their revenue from oil, the Russian official added. Moscow has been accusing Turkey of being involved in the oil trade with IS but Ankara refutes the allegations. Ever since Turkish jets brought down a Russian bomber aircraft, the two countries have been trading sharp accusations. Russian forces said they have destroyed at least 2,000 oil tankers used by the extremists forcing them to change their routes frequently. Extraction and processing units operated by the Islamists have also been targeted by the Russian air strikes, Rudskoy added. He said: "The northern and western routes which we previously revealed continue to be used. In order to avoid losses to Russian aviation, the terrorists move [the oil convoys] mainly at night. Moreover, their tanker trucks are disguised as ordinary lorries, and move in small columns of several dozen vehicles at a time." Relations between Turkey and Russia have deteriorated since the downed jet incident. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had earlier said he would step down if Russia was able to prove the allegations that Ankara was involved in any kind of oil trade with IS. http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/russia-spots-12000-oil-smuggling-trucks-turkey-iraq-border-1534917 http://en.alalam.ir/news/1772772 Friday, December 25, 2015 4:53 PM VIDEO: Russia Detects 12,000 Oil Tankers on Turkey-Iraq Border Russia Detects 12,000 Oil Tankers on Turkey-Iraq Border The General Staff of Russia’s armed forces has reported that Russian intelligence has discovered almost 12,000 tankers and trucks on the Turkish-Iraqi border. “The [aerial] imagery was made in the vicinity of Zakho (a city in Iraqi Kurdistan), there were 11,775 tankers and trucks on both sides of the Turkish-Iraqi border,” Lieutenant-General Sergey Rudskoy told journalists on Friday. "It must be noted that oil from both Iraq and Syria come through this [Zakho] checkpoint, General Rudskoy said. " Heavy-duty trucks loaded with oil continue to cross the Turkish-Syrian border as well, Rudskoy said. At the same time, the number of tankers on the northern and western routes used for transporting oil from Syria is declining, the general added. “According to satellite data, the number of oil tankers moving through the ‘northern route’ towards the refinery in the [Turkish] city of Batman has considerably diminished,” Rudskoy said, adding that the number of tankers using the ‘western route,’ between the Turkish cities of Reyhanli [on the Syrian border] and the city of Iskenderun, has decreased to 265 vehicles. The Russian Air Force in Syria has destroyed about 2,000 tankers used by the terrorists for oil transportation. In the last week, Russian warplanes eliminated 17 convoys of oil tankers and a number of installations used by terrorists for oil extraction and processing. The Russian Air Force’s effective strikes in Syria have forced the terrorists to look for new routes for crude oil transportation. Today, tankers loaded with oil in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor province, under ISIS control, are moving towards the Iraqi border in the direction of Zakho and Mosul. “However, despite a considerable diversion, the finishing point of the trafficking route remains Turkey,” Rudskoy said, RT reported. Nelg
Origin, destination, cargo, location, and number of transport vehicles are all known. It seems simple to me. Load the missiles on X number of planes, launch, fire and destroy ALL OF THEM, return to base, report, and go to lunch. No more tankers, no more flow of money to ISIS, and wait for the next bunch to get on the road. Am I missing something? SocalDinar
ISIL oil smugglers trapped as Russian bombs rain down December 26, 2015: Russian military officials have released footage of bombers attacking a large column of ISIL oil tankers near the Turkey-Iraq border. Russian bombers have conducted deadly raids on thousands of trucks believed to be smuggling illegal oil for ISIL over the Iraq-Turkey border on the same day a Syrian rebel chief was killed in similar air strikes. An estimated 12,000 heavy-duty trucks were seen backed up on both sides of the Zakho checkpoint, in the Kurdistan region of Iraq bordering Turkey, according to aerial footage released by the Russian Defence Ministry. With the threat of an impending attack, hundreds of drivers can be seen frantically trying to flee to safety or abandon their trucks as bombs rain down. Many tankers lie destroyed, smoke and flames billowing out.The Russian Air Force is estimated to have destroyed more than 2000 tankers used by ISIL for smuggling oil since starting a bombing campaign in late September. The crippling effect of the raids has forced ISIL to disguise their trucks, as well as transport cargo mainly at night, Russia Today reports. The terrifying footage has emerged the same day Syrian rebel chief Zahran Alloush was killed in an air strike, damaging the almost five-year uprising and a fragile peace process to end the Syrian civil war. Mr Alloush, 44, was the commander of the Jaish al-Islam (Army of Islam) movement, the predominant opposition faction in the Eastern Ghouta rebel bastion east of capital Damascus. It is unclear if Syrian Army or Russian forces were responsible for the attack. His death "stands as one of the most significant opposition losses" of Syria's nearly five-year uprising, analyst Charles Lister said on Twitter. His absence could affect a peace process aimed at negotiating a political solution to Syria's war, which began in 2011 and in which more than 250,000 people have died. "In a way, Zahran Alloush has been the rare successful centraliser in the Syrian rebel movement," Aron Lund, editor of analysis website Syria in Crisis, said. But with Alloush gone, that cohesion could "unravel," he added.
