Parliamentary Legal: The Electoral Law repealed the previous one and disagreed with Article 15
{Baghdad: Al Furat News} The parliamentary legal committee revealed the development of political discussions on the electoral law.
Committee member Hussein Al-Aqabi said in a press statement, "The new draft election law did not legislate to amend the old election law, but rather stipulated that it be completely abolished."
And that "the election law includes approximately fifty articles, most of which have been agreed upon, while others have been directed towards the option of the legal committee, which depends on the consensus between the political forces on some of the articles and reaching a final approved formula."
Al-Uqabi pointed out that "the new draft law excluded article fifteen of the law, which concerns electoral districts", noting that "the number of proposals received by political forces regarding Article {15} of the draft law, reached approximately 6 proposals , In addition to the original text of the project plus the legal committee’s proposal. ”
He explained, "Most of these proposals talk about the multiple constituencies of the elections, since most of the opinions go towards the one-party proposal at the level of Iraq, which is the position of the Kurds," pointing out that "the rest of the opinions suggested the one-constituency proposal while maintaining the most voted candidate."
He continued that "some of the proposals went towards the multiple districts at the district level, in addition to activating the decision of St. Lego, while there was a proposal to either reduce these districts or they will be presented to the House of Representatives to vote on them."
It is noteworthy that Article (15) of the Parliament’s Elections Law states that 50% of parliamentary seats will be shared in the interests of lists and 50% for individual voting, and most of the deputies with 100%. ”

A member of Parliamentary Law excludes voting on the election law today and reveals the reason
{Baghdad: Al Furat News} A member of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, has excluded the vote on the draft election law today, Wednesday.
Today, Wednesday, the House of Representatives is to hold its regular session, and its agenda includes a vote on the draft election law.
Diamond Fadel said in a press statement that "the differences between the parliamentary blocs on the electoral law are still continuing and have not been resolved yet.
She added: The differences are continuing and there was no agreement on how to determine the electoral district and are they at the level of governorates or districts? We have more than 186 courts there problems about 64 spend and there are significant problems and overlap in the names of geographical application.
She noted that the legal Committee asked the independent Electoral Commission to express its opinion technical also requested the opinion of the political blocs, and so far we have not reached any agreement.
She said Fadel "there is great pressure on the House of Representatives To legislate the law Even if the council votes on the law, it will lead to the emergence of major problems, and it will be legislated after major discussions and interactions. "
She said: We have to be careful and continue in dialogues and discussions to find solutions to differences and legislate a solid law because it is not easy to legislate an important law like the election law so quickly.
She added: The differences revolve around Articles 15 and 16 of the draft law regarding the quota of women and the distribution of constituencies, so it is difficult to vote on the draft electoral law in today's session.
