Okay, so we have a new candidate for the Libertarian Party.

This Former Republican Just Announced His 3rd Party Bid…It Could Shake Things Up

A one-time Republican governor and former candidate for president thinks that the debt Washington has piled onto the already strained backs of every American taxpayer is so bad that he is now feels compelled to launch a third party bid for the White House.

Former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson said Wednesday that the country is so far in debt that he is launching a bid to win the nomination of the Libertarian Party.

“I want to take this opportunity to announce my candidacy for president,” Johnson told host Neil Cavuto on the Fox Business Network on Wednesday. “I am hoping to get the Libertarian nomination for president in 2016.”

“I think the biggest problem facing this country is the $20 trillion debt that we will have when Obama leaves office,” the fiscally conservative Johnson added. “Government is too big, it’s unwieldy, it’s out of control, we need to get control.”

Johnson’s jump into the presidential race doesn’t come as a bolt out of the blue. In April of last year, he toldDaily Caller that he intended to toss his hat back into the political ring. The article quotes the out-of-the-box contender as saying, “Unless something catastrophic happens in my life, I hope to do that.”

Johnson is no stranger to runs for the White House. He first threw his hat in the ring for the GOP nomination in 2012, but when it became clear he wasn’t getting any traction as a Republican, he abandoned the GOP and announced a run for the Libertarian Party nomination.

The socially liberal, pro-pot candidate secured the Libertarian nomination and went on to win about one percent of the vote against Barack Obama and Mitt Romney.

After the 2012 election Johnson was appointed the CEO of Cannabis Sativa Inc, a company that sells legal marijuana products. He has since stepped down from that role in order to make another run for the White House.

But even as he gears up to once again hit the campaign trail, Gary Johnson freely admits he doesn’t stand a chance of winding up in the Oval Office. He told a reporter for The Atlantic:

“I have no delusions of grandeur here,” Johnson told me shortly after his announcement, in his characteristic frankness. “I know what happened last time.”

Yup.... citing campaign "lacked momentum".

GOP field narrowing... albeit Dr. Carson claims CNN perpetuated a lie that he is dropping out, too...

Awaiting further fireworks on this one from Camp Carson.

Doc Carson dropped out when he made the Great Pyramid Grain Bin comment.
