Maliki declares “major development” to relations with Kuwait; UN expresses its satisfaction

Makes you wonder if this budget crisis was nothing more than a diversion so they could finally resolve the real issues... But then again this is Iraq wouldnt surprise me if the budget crisis was just an other day in the soap opera as the Sand Storm Turns..

Announced by Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, on Monday, for “significant development” in relations between his country and Kuwait, the United Nations expressed its satisfaction about it.

Maliki’s statement came on the sidelines of a meeting with the representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Martin Kobler, in his office in the capital Baghdad.

A statement issued by the Information Office of the owners reportedly for “Twilight News” The two sides also discussed the “current events in the region and their impact on the internal situation.”

The statement quoted Maliki as saying that “Iraq in the past to develop its relations with all countries of the region, especially with the State of Kuwait with whom relations have been a great development.”

In contrast Kubler expressed the readiness of the United Nations to support Iraq’s efforts in promoting the trend of moderation in the region and promote dialogue and move the region about the dangers of regional interventions.

He expressed satisfaction with the development in the Iraqi-Kuwaiti relations file, according to the statement quoted.

They Also Just Announced This Week The Reinstatement Of Flights Between Iraq And Kuwait For The First Time In Over 2 Decades ! ;)

 

 

 

BAGHDAD –  Iraq's Transportation

Ministry says that country's airline will resume commercial flights to

Kuwait for the first time since Saddam Hussein's forces invaded the Gulf

nation in 1990.


A statement posted on the

ministry's official website said Monday that flights between the two

"brotherly countries" is due to start next Wednesday for the first time

in more than 22 years.


The decision follows an

agreement designed to end a long-running dispute over reparations for

Kuwaiti airways. Baghdad agreed to pay $500 million in compensation to

Kuwait's national carrier for damage caused during the occupation.

They have expressed pleasure previously at the strides made betwixt the two countries....

 

remember when the maliki was trotting over there every other week for photo ops and took gifts to

give away to his hosts, yadda, yadda, yadda....? And they were all makin' nice back then...

 

we've heard it all before. we're not impressed ...... yet.
