Here is something for everyone to ponder...

The US Congress does not get their act together by March 4, we do not have a working budget.

March 31 is the end of the 1st Qtr, the projected date that the US GDP and our national debt meet head on.

April 1, the US is officially bankrupt, the US Dollar crashes.

That is one hell of an "April Fools"!

RETIREMENT...............................NOBODY IS GOING TO RETIRE, when the dollar crashes the GOV will order you to surrender your gold and silver(they have a record of all your metal holdings) or face imprisonment. Then the IRS will step in and take anything left that has any value. The thought of hiding your wealth from the GOV is laughable, Even Switzerland has yielded to US presure to open their books.

Well, there is a very simple solution to that. I will denounce my citizenship and live elsewhere. No hard feelings at all.

I'm deeply saddened by what our Gov has done to us, we have no chance of financial recovery at this point. The Fed said that if ALL AMERICANS WERE TAXED 100% It would take 10 years to pay off all our DEBT!! I have asked for a meeting with my financial planner for next week to make DRASTIC changes NOW in my retirement income plans. FTR I'm not a conspiracy theorist Nor am I a Doom and Gloom type either. Just the facts.

U.S. states start to print their own currencies

Many U.S. communities are creating their own currencies now. They try to help consumers and companies to fight the global financial crisis and the recession. The idea, borrowed from the Depression era when the currencies were known as "scrip", is designed to boost local spending and keep money circulating within the community.

Typically, a group of businesses print a new currency which shoppers can then buy at a discount – typically one dollar will cost 90 to 95 cents – and spend at full value with participating companies.

Some of the currencies have been around for years but the recent economic downturn has encouraged others to follow suit. According to some estimates, there are now more than 75 local currency systems across the country.

Others include the Ithaca Hours in upstate New York and the Plenty in North Carolina.

Under US law, small communities can produce their own currency so long as it does not include coins and does not resemble federally-issued money.

The currencies are not a tax dodge as the income to participating businesses is liable to tax.

In Traverse City, Michigan, more than 100 businesses accept Bay Backs, among them restaurants, B&Bs, a doctor, accountant and even a tarot card reader.

Around $2 million worth of BerkShares – the most established local currency – is circulating in the Berkshires, a rural area in southern Massachusetts, telegraph.co.uk reports.

A good example of local currency at work is an experiment done in 1930’s in the city of Worgl, in Austria. It was time of the Great Depression; the small town of 4000 people had unemployment of 30%, with huge local government debt. In 1931, the city major ordered printing of 32,000 labor certificates, that carried a negative 1% monthly interest rate and could be converted into the Austrian currency at 98% face value. The new currency restarted a number of public projects mostly involving infrastructure and within a year the revenue of the local government rose from 2,400 AS (Austrian schillings) to 20,400, while the unemployment was virtually eliminated, all with no increase in prices. With the rest of Austria still gripped by the economic downturn, other communities followed with installing local currencies.

Naturally the socialist party of Austria wasn’t satisfied with the program and neither was the Austrian central bank, afraid of losing power over currency. As a result, the experiment was shut down, the unemployment went back up and the local economy caught up in deterioration with the rest of the country, examiner.com reports.

Local currency, on a much larger scale, is currently at work in the European Union. There are several countries within the Union that still use their own national currencies instead of Euro – the official currency in EU.

For instance I got; a freezer full of that **** Cheney chicken and twenty pounds of that Donald Rumsfeld pork butt. I really don't think any other U.S. states are using different currency. Is there any proof for this? You have to separate the rhetoric from facts. A lot of people function as alarmist. There is plenty to be alarmed and concerned about without looking for fallacies or just hearsay.

What the post stated was actually covered on public tv. This is not theory or alarmists trying to sensationalize. It is time for some to get up with reality. Our way of life is changing and I suggest not for the better. Being a former intnl bnkr I have colleagues that are retiring, diversifying assets and looking for remote locations off the radar. I am not one but there will not be golf, cruises and more golf. The plan is land well outside of town, crops, some livestock, good water source and backup power for failed services. Hey BanG, I appreciate your passion and sense of urgency. I absolutely do.

But the currency issues, I believe, you are misrepresenting. Businesses are printing chits that are purchased to encourage local spending. You purchase $100 of chits for $95, or whatever. You must spend that chit in your own community. I think it is a good idea. You could use a chit at Ace Hardware rather than purchasing from the Home Depot behemoth. Local coffee houses would benefit rather than Starbucks. A local market or outdoor market could benefit rather than Ralphs.

I am very concerned about the US economic situation. I wanted to buy a house after the RV, but I am not going to do it. I think the dollar is in for a deep dip and I will rent for now. Let somebody else loose the money (I hate that I said that....), but I do not think that property is the way to go. Anybody that has any advice on investment, I am all ears. I can only see precious metals, other than gold, for investment at the moment. And I am not too sure about putting my money offshore either. I think the IRS will get tricky with that scenario because we will be do desperate.

Well, enough of my thoughts ... I hear what you are saying BanG, but we have to be honest and knowledgeable in what information we present to others.

Obama created more jobs in his first 18 months than George Bush created in 8 years. FACT! If anyone really read and understood the healthcare bill, you would know that this bill will cut healthcare costs and our debt. As far at the IRS agents, 16,000 was another lie spread by Fox News. Boehner just stated that Obama hired 200,000 new federal employees. Another lie. The % of federal employees to citizens is far lower than it was under Bush. Boehner included the temporary census workers when he spoke to the nation. A misrepresentation at least.

For those who trully believe the Obama HealthCare Plan is designed to help us, the American citiizen, I would like to ask if they had an opportunity to read the whole content of this bill? That they can fully understand and I mean a 100% positive that this is what we want. If they have not then how do they know for sure this is what it is what it is. Most of us probably got our info from someone we know & we never questioned their truthfulness because we place our trust in them, but we never questioned the truthfullness of the content. I am not saying that we should not trust our family & friends, but rather if the info they passed on to us is the "real" truth or not. Perhaps we can say that the info were passed on to them in the similar manner & they passed it on to others. Example: If you were recommended to a restaurant by someone you know & you would assume that you'll like the foods there too. So you decided to go and there are 2 things could happen. 1) You LOVE it 2) What the heck!!! There's your TRUE answer. So if you can read the whole content of Obama HealthCare Plan how would think if it is or is NOT for you & your family.
