Iraqi sources revealed to Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that the commander of the Quds Force in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard,  Ismail Qaani  , left Baghdad without meeting with representatives of the Sadrist movement to discuss the political crisis.

Qaani arrived in the capital, Baghdad, today, Wednesday, on an unannounced visit, during which he held several meetings with a number of leaders of political blocs and leaders of armed militias.

Qaani’s unannounced visit to Baghdad came a day after  the Coordination Framework Alliance , which brings together the political forces backed by Iran, announced the nomination of the former leader of the Dawa Party, Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani, for prime minister, and hours after the Sadrist movement led by  Muqtada al-Sadr  rejected this nomination and waved a paper popular demonstrations.

The sources said that "the commander of the Quds Force in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, General Ismail Qaani, arrived in Baghdad this morning, and upon his arrival held a meeting with the leaders of the coordination framework, in the presence of a number of leaders of the armed factions, and discussed completing the process of forming the new Iraqi government, after agreeing on a presidential candidate. The ministers, who had the support of Tehran, according to the message Qaani carried to the leaders of the framework.”

And the sources indicated that, “During his meeting with the leaders of the coordination framework and the armed factions, Qaani stressed the need for there to be no friction between the coordination framework and the Sadrist movement, if he decided to take to the street to reject Al-Sudani.” the street during the next stage.”

But hundreds of  Muqtada al-Sadr 's supporters  stormed, this evening, Wednesday, the Green Zone in the center of the capital  , Baghdad , and approached the residence of former Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, who leads the "Coordination Framework" coalition, before storming the parliament headquarters.

Sadr's supporters chanted slogans against the candidate of the Iran-backed "Coordination Framework" coalition, Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani, carrying pictures of al-Sadr with slogans threatening not to pass the government.

The "Al-Araby Al-Jadeed" correspondent in Baghdad said that hundreds of Al-Sadr's supporters entered Tahrir Square, despite the ongoing maintenance operations in it for several months, which is the first mass mobilization in it in nearly two years. He explained that hundreds of Sadr's supporters crossed the Jumhuriya Bridge leading to the Green Zone, in central Baghdad, chanting slogans against the formation of the new government.

Al-Sadr's supporters also brought down a number of concrete barriers surrounding the Green Zone, in central Baghdad.

The demonstrators chanted slogans carrying offensive phrases against a number of leaders of the "Coordination Framework" coalition as well, while the "Al-Araby Al-Jadeed" correspondent confirmed the monitoring of well-known figures in the Sadrist movement within the assembly.

Shafaq News/ The official spokesman for the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, Salah al-Obeidi, said on Monday that the Shiite coordination framework crushed the project of the independent government after they promised it "shoes", naming Muhammad Shia al-Sudani for its presidency, whom he described as a "halki candidate", referring to Nouri al-Maliki.

Al-Obaidi said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, "The frameworks' calls for dialogue are a new attempt to defraud, and the instincts of the framework leaders prompted them to circumvent their project, which they proposed that the next government should be purely for the independents more than a month before the resignation of the Sadrist bloc - so al-Sadr's order for the resignation of his bloc was a last chance for them." To implement their promises of patriotism - knowing that everyone who went with a particular team lost the title of independence, whether with the framework or saving a homeland."

He added, "The frameworks were not late in scrambling for positions, so they announced the Sudanese as their candidate, crushing the project of the independent government with shoes and dividing the positions among them to the lowest level so that the candidate of the dead would win; their frauds in breaking promises before and after the elections were numerous; They delay their gathering until five o'clock in the afternoon due to the coldness of passion) but set out to crush those who violated promises and projects after they missed their last chance; and there is no time for regret.”

The Iraqi street is awaiting what will happen to the situation in the capital, Baghdad, after counter calls from the leader of the Sadrist movement on the one hand, and the forces of the Shiite coordination framework on the other hand, to demonstrate in front of and inside the green walls.

The dispute is intensifying between the Sadrists, who are holding a sit-in at the Iraqi parliament's headquarters in the Green Zone, and the coordination framework that called on its supporters to demonstrate near it.

Al-Sadr’s spokesman: The framework crushed the project of the independent government with “shoes” by naming Al-Sudani “the candidate of Al-Halki”

The official spokesman for the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, Salah al-Obeidi, said on Monday that the Shiite coordinating framework had crushed the project of the independent government after they promised it “shoes,” naming Muhammad Shia al-Sudani for its presidency, whom he described as “the perishable candidate,” referring to Nuri al-Maliki.

Alsumaria News - The policy of

Talib Salih Muhammad al-Iraqi, nicknamed Minister al-Sadr, today, Monday, the head of the Al-Fateh Alliance Hadi al-Amiri to withdraw with his bloc from the coordination framework.

Al-Iraqi said in a Facebook post, which was followed by Alsumaria News, "Brother Al-Amiri's call for dialogue between the framework (to which he belongs) and the Sadrist movement, which he has abandoned, is repeated. I say that if we compromise and accept the dialogue, this is conditioned on the following:

First: “Brother Al-Amiri and his bloc withdrew from the framework.”

Second: "A frank denunciation of what (Speicherman) said in the leaks a few days ago."

Third: "You were among the signatories to a reform document..and it was not implemented..who is the guarantor of the implementation of the reform dialogue?!You must specify a guarantor in order to save Iraq from the teeth of corruption."

Earlier in the day, Al-Amiri said, "I repeat my sincere appeal to the brothers in the Sadrist movement and to the brothers in the coordinating framework to overcome the logic of reason, wisdom, self-restraint and deliberation, and to advance the interest of the country and people through serious and constructive dialogue, to reach solutions to the points of differences between them. Iraq is dear to everyone.

Shafaq News/ The coordination framework, which brings together the Shiite political forces, except for the Sadrist movement, confirmed today, Wednesday, its adherence to the nomination of Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani for the position of Prime Minister in the next federal government, and that there is no intention among the leaders of the framework to change it.

Fadel Mawat, a leader in the State of Law coalition affiliated with the framework, told Shafaq News Agency, "The coordinating framework forces are not thinking of changing their candidate, Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani, and this matter has not been completely discussed among the leaders of the framework until now."

He believed that "the problem of the Sadrist movement, is not with the personality nominated for prime minister, but rather the problem with the coordination framework as a whole, even if another figure was presented to the movement's rejection," adding that for this reason, the Shiite framework "will not change its candidate for prime minister, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, and he is still insisting on him." Despite the demonstrations and sit-ins by supporters of the Sadrist movement.

The political scene in Iraq has undergone serious developments since supporters of the Sadrist movement led by prominent Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr stormed the parliament building in the fortified Green Zone in central Baghdad, and protested against the nomination of the coordination framework, Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani, for the position of Prime Minister for the next federal government.

On Monday, demonstrations against the Sadrist movement took place near the suspension bridge leading to the Green Zone by the Coordination Framework's audience, after an invitation from the "Organizing Committee to support Legitimacy and Preserve State Institutions."

The Sadrist bloc had obtained the highest votes in the early legislative elections that took place in October of 2021, but the efforts of the leader of the current failed to form the new federal government due to the Shiite coordination framework standing in its way by obtaining a fatwa from the Federal Court with the so-called blocking third in a contract The session for electing the President of the Republic, which paves the way for naming the Prime Minister.

The three-way alliance between the Kurdistan Democratic Party led by Masoud Barzani, the Sovereignty Alliance headed by Khamis al-Khanjar, and the Sadrist movement led by Muqtada al-Sadr was broken following the resignation of the Sadrist bloc's deputies, and the movement's withdrawal from the political process by order of al-Sadr.

The political scene is living in a crisis situation and a dead end unprecedented in the history of Iraq, as more than 300 days have passed since the early elections without being able to form a new government in the country, and the survival of the caretaker government headed by Mustafa Al-Kazemi.

On the tenth of last October, Iraq held early legislative elections to get out of a political crisis that swept the country after large demonstrations in the central and southern regions in 2019 in protest against the widespread unemployment in society, the spread of financial and administrative corruption in government departments and institutions, and the deteriorating reality The service and the livelihood, which prompted the former prime minister, Adel Abdul-Mahdi, to resign under popular pressure.

As soon as the preliminary results of the elections were announced, the voices of political forces and actors rose in their rejection of losing many seats, accusing them of major fraud in the ballot, which was denied by the executive and judicial authorities, at a time when the United Nations and international organizations praised the integrity of the electoral process.

The leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Ghiath al-Sorji, revealed, on Wednesday, what was discussed at the meeting of the two parties, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Democratic Party, while noting that there are two options for getting out of the crisis of electing the president of the republic.

Neither the National Union nor the Democratic Union, but rather it is to put forward part of the forces of the coordination framework as solutions to break the political blockage and nominate the candidate for the post of President of the Republic.

Earlier, sources revealed that the Kurdistan Democratic Party had proposed two options for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan in order to "untie the knot" of the presidency.

Fouad Hussein, head of the negotiating delegation of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, met the head of the Patriotic Union, Bafel Talabani.

According to information published by the Kurdistan Democratic media and followed by "Nass" (July 19, 2022), "Al-Party again rejected the nomination of Barham Salih by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan for the position of president, and in return he presented two options for the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan."

He added, "The first option for Al-Party is for the position of the President of the Republic to be democratic as an electoral entitlement, and in return, the Union will obtain the federal ministerial positions designated for the Kurds."

The second option, according to Al-Party media, was that "the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan withdraw Barham Salih and that the two sides agree on a joint candidate for the post of President of the Republic."

Informed Kurdish sources said that "Bavel Talabani confirmed that their candidate is Barham Salih, and they insist on his election to the post of president."

The head of the negotiating delegation of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, arrived in Sulaymaniyah, where he began a meeting with the President of the Patriotic Union, Bafel Talabani, with the aim of resolving the issue of electing the presidency of the republic, according to a Kurdish source.

An official in the Kurdistan Democratic Party told Voice of America - the Kurdish version that Al-Party will not repeat the experience of 2018 to enter the presidential race with candidates for the two Kurdish parties, and he may boycott the government or the President of the Republic if his demands are not met.

The Kurdish movement comes after demands and pressures exerted by political forces from the "coordinating framework" on the Kurdish blocs, with the aim of deciding the presidency, while political sources said that the forces of the "coordinating framework", although they tend to the National Union, and its current candidate Barham Salih, But it mainly seeks not to anger the Democratic Party, and to ensure its participation in the next government.

Al-Fayyad said in a press statement: "Dissolving Parliament and holding early elections will be a solution in the event that all blocs and other political parties agree."

And he indicated that "the current government is a caretaker government, and the re-election is not within the powers of the caretaker government."

SULAIMANI — Fazil Zrijawi, a member of the State of Law Coalition’s Presidency, told local media on Thursday (August 4) the party insists on Mohammed Shia al-Sudani as the Coordination Framework’s candidate for prime minister and on the formation of the Iraqi government in the near future.

Members of the State of Law responded to Sadr’s demands on Wednesday for the dissolution of parliament and the call for early elections, stating the political parties in Baghdad have yet to discuss snap elections and disbanding parliament.

Mahmood Hayal, an official in the State of Law, said political moves should be carried out by parties jointly, not by one particular faction imposing its view on others.

He added, he believed Sadr’s demands could have been achieved through dialogue instead of by force and threats.

Sadr made his announcement on Wednesday evening following days of sit-in demonstrations when his supporters broke into the highly fortified Green Zone in Baghdad and occupied the parliament building.

Falih Fayaz, the head of Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) has also responded to Sadr’s demand, saying the dissolution of parliament was a serious matter that would not be accepted if it was suggested by only one party. He stated the proposal could become accepted if there was mutual agreement.

A perfect example of why I’m not seeing the reason for another election.
My question is, what is supposed to change? Did I miss the article that states Iraq will now be free of the Iranian influence or the one that says the same corrupt politicians will not be running?
I’m sure Al-Sadr has a plan but I would like to see the benefit of new elections.

No benefits at all. We see it but do they. You elect new criminals and/or reelect the old ones.

Lockdown the country, mass arrests of any/all Pro-Iranian politicians & influencers/purge the system.

Never happen will it...but it's the only way.

They'll be some gains, however, it will fall way short of the benchmark.
