In 2004, he returned to Iraq and established the "Iraqi Wafa Movement", as a political interface seeking to participate in political life, after the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime. In 2006, he obtained the membership of the Najaf Provincial Council, and chaired the "Al-Wafa Bloc", for Najaf in the same year.

From 2006, he began holding security and consulting positions in the Iraqi Ministry of Interior, where he held between 2006 and 2009 the position of Assistant Undersecretary for Intelligence Affairs at the Ministry of Interior. At the end of 2009, he returned to his previous position as governor of Najaf, and continued until 2015. On his political stances, Adel Al-Zarfi was known to defend Iraq’s independence from dependency abroad and to eliminate sectarian differences, which he says “does not define the basis of patriotism.” Al-Zrafi is known for his defense of the idea that "the Iraqis are more and the first people of the Gulf region and the Middle East, in the luxury of their oil wealth."

The Central Bank of Iraq announced, on Tuesday, that it will exempt merchants, business owners and citizens from the commission of using POS for a period of 6 months.

The bank said in a statement, Alsumaria News received a copy of it that "on the call to use electronic payment tools in financial dealings and avoid dealing in cash in order to preserve public health, the commissions on the citizen and the merchant when using POS devices will be zero and for a period of 6 months starting from 17 March." 

The bank called "all banks the need to contribute effectively to support the current stage by providing financial and banking products and services to encourage different groups of society to use electronic payment tools."

 

It is noteworthy that the Central Bank is seeking during the coming period to use the card and business card for the process of trading, buying, selling and gradually dispensing with the transactions in banknotes directly.

The association stated in a statement received / Mawazine News / a copy of it, that "the CBI takes a series of measures to encourage citizens to use electronic payment tools and gradually move from cash to electronic transactions, in the interest of citizens and merchants and will contribute to increasing electronic commerce in Iraq." The executive director of the Association, Ali Tariq, said,"The current situation requires us to use electronic payment tools and to stay away from cash transactions in order to avoid the Iraqi economy the problems caused by dealing in cash."

Tariq added, "The Central Bank of Iraq has taken a series of measures to encourage citizens to use electronic payment, including making the commission zero for the merchant when using points of sale for a period of six months starting today, in addition to providing new products and banking financial services that suit all groups of society." "The Iraqi citizen can purchase his bank card from inside and outside Iraq without any commission in addition to using the official exchange rate approved by the central bank and not the exchange rate in the market."
