parliament on Saturday resumed its 15th session under the chairmanship of First Deputy Speaker Hassan al-Kaabi. 
A parliamentary source told Mawazine News that "the parliament resumed today, its 15th session of the fourth parliamentary session, the first legislative year of the second legislative term under the chairmanship of First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Hassan Karim al-Kaabi." 
Parliament is scheduled to read and vote on a number of laws on the agenda of the meeting

A source in the committee told Mawazine News that "the committee held today a meeting during which MP Heibat Al-Halbusi was elected as its president." 
He referred to "postponement of the selection of the Vice-Chairman and Rapporteur of the Committee, because of the lack of consensus on them"

(Baghdad: Al-Furat News) Member of the House of Representatives Hibet Halaboussi, on Saturday, won the chairmanship of the parliamentary energy committee.

Al-Halbusi told the {Euphrates News}, that "the parliamentary energy committee was settled for Salhi after the holding of elections within the Committee."

(Reuters) - Dozens of angry protesters on Saturday went to the House of Representatives to try to enter the building.

An informed source told Ashqaf News that dozens of angry protesters, who had lost their contracts, tried to enter the council building, but the security forces prevented them from doing so.

The source pointed out that the protesters' attempt comes in the wake of the government's failure to respond to their demands to return to their jobs, despite the promises made by the political blocs.

A parliamentary source told Mawazine News that "Jabouri was elected chairman of the committee with the votes of the majority of the committee members." 
He added that "Muthanna al-Samarrai was elected vice-chairman of the committee, and Ahmed al-Saffar was elected as rapporteur."

(Baghdad: Al Furat News) Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohamed Halboussi promised on Saturday to provide a climate conducive to the work of journalists and ensure their right to access information.

"I congratulate the press family in Iraq on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day," Al-Halbusi said on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day. He praised "journalists who gave their lives in the course of their professional duties." 
"Celebrating World Press Freedom Day each year is a reminder of the fundamental principles and aims to assess freedom of the press around the world and defend it against attacks that threaten its independence," said Halboussi. 
He added that "the Iraqi Council of Representatives is seeking every effort to legislate laws that contribute to the achievement of free and independent Iraqi press, and these laws is the law of the rights of journalists No. 21 of 2011."
"We will work to provide a suitable environment for journalists to work and to have access to information without restrictions that limit or restrict the freedom of publication. We also try to ensure the rights of journalists without censorship. And pressure on government institutions to implement it. " 
Halaboussi stressed "freedom of the press and access to information as a human right, saying: I pledge you as the head of the legislative authority in Iraq that does not prejudice the freedom of the press and no restrictions on them."
