Mass Grave of Civilians Found in Mosul after Ousting IS

MOSUL — Iraq government forces on Monday discovered a mass grave in western Mosul where Islamic State (IS) militants had buried tens of executed civilians.

Nineveh Police officer Ali Mohsin told BasNews that mass grave, locate in Yarmouk neighborhood of Mosul, contains at least 50 bodies, killed by IS before they were ousted from the neighborhood.

He further revealed that US-led coalition air power has targeted a convoy of IS vehicles in Qabir Bint district of western Mosul, killing at least 14 jihadists and wounding many more.

Following the full liberation of eastern mosul earlier this year, the Iraqi forces in February launched a major-scale assault backed by the coalition warplanes to reclaim the remaining western parts of the city. Fierce confrontations are ongoing in the area with the Iraqi soldiers making territorial gains against IS.

Things sure seemed a heck of a lot more promising before Obummer bailed on Iraq. Daesh was only a small militant group which could have and was being easily handled.

Now we are happy about te liberation of Mosul which is only half complete. What a mess we left due to our woosey president at the time. glad we finally have a leader!

  • In June 2014, Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL, also known as ISIS) forces captured Mosul, Iraq's second-largest city. Over two years later, it is ISIL's last stronghold in the country.

The city, which still houses more than one million people, is now being besieged on all sides by a coalition of Iraqi and Kurdish troops, with additional support from Western forces. If ISIL is driven out of the city, the armed group no longer has any significant presence in Iraq, as this map of control shows.

According to the United Nations, the battle for Mosul has the potential to become one of the largest humanitarian disasters in history.

Shown below are a map of the broader Mosul area and which faction controls which area, and a map showing the city of Mosul with its most important roads and who controls which areas inside the city.

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) Unknown gunmen shot dead a preacher from the Islamic State and a companion in western Mosul, sources said as government troops become closer to the group’s strongholds in central Mosul.

Alsumaria News quoted a local source saying that “Abu Huthaifa”, an Iraqi, was gunned down along with another member in Zanjili, a district north of Mosul’s Old City, the target of current Iraqi forces operations in western Mosul.

According to the source, the attack, having occurred in areas under IS control prompted the extremist group to launch searches for perpetrators and arrest some suspects.

Earlier on Monday, Iraqi forces recaptured recaptured al-Sumoud district before storming the nearby al-Mansour, all near the city center.

Old Mosul is a major target for U.S.-backed Iraqi forces seeking to clear the western side of the city from militants. It is home of a government compound, the recapture of which is believed to be highly decisive in ending the campaign in the government forces’ favor.

Shortly earlier, news reports quoted security officials saying the forces took over a major bridge leading to the Old City.

Mosul fell to IS militants in 2014, and had been proclaimed as the capital of the group’s “Islamic Caliphate” before Iraqi forces retook the eastern part late January.

Iraqi and coalition generals had predicted the city to be retaken within six months from the start of the operations in the west.

Beholder hardly noticed the entrance to the tunnel in the hillside mud oversees Mosul , where now raging clashes between Iraqi forces and fighters of the organization «Daesh».
Trains in the past to pass through this tunnel on its way from Mosul to it, but the militants blocked the entrances, and they took off the rails, and set up a track to train recruits on offensive operations when it overran the area in the summer of 2014. Iraqi forces discovered a secret training camp under the ground after he regained control of the hill last month in the early stages of an offensive to wrest control of the western part of the city of Mosul from the hands of militants. Some area residents volunteered to inform the Iraqi forces positioned camp , which reveals how the design of the organization to fight, despite the fact that the attacking forces frequently superiority in numbers and firepower, and supported by the US - led coalition.
Iraqi soldiers climb a pile of dirt to hide the entrance to the tunnel, and then they went down, and the income from slot height of about seven meters by five meters, on portable Hoatvhma lights. The soldiers shed light on slogans «Daesh» started painting on the walls of the tunnel with a length of about half a kilometer, and a series of obstacles and claimed one of them tried it himself.

Kadhim al - Gharawi, one of the rapid reaction task force said one of the special units of the Interior Ministry «training is like our training. This special training for special forces. » It is not clear how many recruits who were trained in this camp, or what happened to them. And complement physical exercises intellectual setting when the organization , which emerged in the subdirectories scattered on the ground of the tunnel manuals. On the ground was a booklet on pagan types lying next to empty boxes of cans he drank orange juice inductees, cans and shoes, headwear and face, they were wearing not only their eyes showing them.
Held the railway line in the early twentieth century in the context of pipeline project linking Berlin Baghdad. The line was not used when the organization swept through Mosul in the summer of 2014 on a mural in the tunnel is painted with a red - colored sun disk Gan wrote the words «God willing , we will open Rome.» Near the beginning of the offensive coaching track the number of bags backpacks filled with sand to be carried by recruits during their training to increase the difficulty of crossing barriers. After climbing the high wall using a rope recruits move to casual iron moving them into their own hands, and hung their bodies and then throw themselves on the ground and crawling under barbed wire and a wall beside them wrote it «will prevail despite the global coalition». And red indicates the direction in which the shares to climb the wall are still traces of their feet. It seems that the soldiers were sleeping in the area for some time, as it existed in two rooms Hfra family on both sides of the tunnel in one duvet cover pink color, is decorated in a cartoon character Mickey Mouse. The hard - liners installed means of lighting in the tunnel works by using electricity exists on the hillside generator. There was a medical clinic in mobile cabins, four cabins for showers, dedicated to wash in a section of the tunnel and place it wrote «mosque».

Question: What the BEST way to take a bridge ?

Answer: Both sides at once.

Concentrated Assault near side, river assault to take the far side. A heavy & sustained Artillery Barrage High Explosives & Plenty of Smoke for the river assault always helps. Night Assault is always best.
