DoD
I think al-Sadr would be more effective if he took a portion of his demonstrators an hunted down an exposed the corrupt ministers an officials in the different offices. Him storming the Green Zone again so soon after that big bomb attach wouldn't be a good move in my opinion....That's exactly what Maliki is hoping he will do, a few hundred of his thugs inter-mixed with the protestors could creat a very bad ending for the government.

TennesseeCherokee
Sadr and his bunch have been totally fair about this stalling and foot dragging by parliament. He ( Sadr ) warned the corrupt months ago that if they failed to pass all of the laws that are pending, particularly the laws that deal directly with the betterment of life for the citizens, that he was going to do it. Sadr has been extremely patient. Maliki's 180 day promises to help the people, turned into 8 years. Now we see Abaidi, a man who truly wants these reforms done yesterday, being held up by Maliki's sympathizers in parliament. This shiite should have been taken care of in April. The laws were written up, all that was needed was a vote. The corrupt are stalling because the passing of the judicial laws means the end of corruption.....& prison or death

TennesseeCherokee
Abaidi is extremely fortunate that Sadr has been & continues to be his ally throughout his tenure as Prime Minister. I noted a couple days ago, in one of Yota's posts, where Abaidi made a statement that any violence by Sadr's brigade during this Friday's demonstrations would only cause troubles and plunge Iraq back into a sectarian quagmire. It is great to see here that Sadr is laying down the law to his flock ........reminding them to demonstrate PEACEFULLY & NOT to wear the Sadr Army's UNIFORM. Keeping up the pressure and showing up by the tens of thousands, chanting and carrying signs should be enough to remind all the crooks in parliament to finish the pending laws. Sadr is dead serious about these parliamentarians finishing these laws and quickly providing help for all Iraqi's. This time will be peaceful..... this will probably be the last time Sadr will reign in his people.
CaptainBVI
TC, I do fully agree with your evaluation. The only problem is the ones holding it up are the same ones heading for the gallows if the reforms are made. I sincerely wish they would just buckle from the pressure / chanting / signs but they also know it's a death sentence for them. While I am optimistic, the reality is unless they get over the fear of making Malarkey a martyr / convenient illness it's probably going to get messy before the status quo changes. I sincerely hope / pray that I'm wrong and this gets resolved quickly and peacefully.
