Again, you get what you pay for and you can not paint everyone with the same brush Easy.  I live on Long Island and pay high taxes for our school system.  We have some of the best schools in the country and my district is awarded year after year with national recognition of excellence.

Now, go into NYC and other major cities and there is a different story.  However, my point is, just because some districts are terrible does not mean that ALL districts are terrible. You like to speak in generalities and make reference to an all or nothing menatlity.  That just isn't the case. Yes, some districts need help.  but most are just fine

We homeschooled both our kids... with one short stint in public school for both kids.  Our son esp. noticed that school basically amounted to babysitting... he even saw kids doing drugs in the classroom and the teacher knew about it!!!!  So what does that tell you abut the future of this country if the kids are not getting educated but in fact are being "dumbed down" so that no one has any "confidence issues".... that is until they get out in the job market and find out they are totally unprepared for the real world.   Sad situation... but it's easy to see why there has been such an increase in home schooling and private school!!!  Not knocking teachers... that's not an easy job... but when your just doing it for a paycheck there are easier ways to make a living... just saying!!!

Thanks Francie.. that serves to remind us how far we have come from what made this country the nation "it once was"!!!   :(

Thanks for the post Easy!!!  ;)
