ERBIL — The leader of the Islamic State Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s movements are being monitored by Iraqi authorities, according to the Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi’s words in a recent interview.

“He is almost alone at the moment. He doesn’t have many people to trust. He is in isolation, we’re monitoring his movements,” al-Abadi told France24.
“His communication with other terrorists is very low. In many times, it is almost nonexistent,” he added.

Moreover, the US-led anti-Islamic State (IS) coalition has “killed and eliminated” a great number of al-Baghdadi’s close aides and has “almost crushed Daesh militarily,” al-Abadi said, using the Arabic acronym for the Islamic State.

However, when asked to specify which part of Mosul the IS leader was currently hiding in, al-Abadi refused to comment.

The operation liberate Mosul from IS militants began on October 17 of the previous year. So far roughly half of the city has been reclaimed.
