The Central Bank: New cooperation between Iraqi and international banks

The Governor of the Central Bank, Mustafa Mokhif, announced receiving requests from international banks to open prospects for cooperation with Iraqi banks, which have a credit rating from accredited rating agencies.  

  

  

  

Makheif said during a press interview, followed by "Nass" (October 4, 2022), that "work is currently underway with a number of sober international banks to prepare the ground for the crisis for banking cooperation with Iraqi banks with outstanding performance and a credit rating from accredited rating agencies."  

  

He added, "The requirements and proposals on this subject, which were submitted by some international banks, are currently being studied for the purpose of opening accounts for Iraqi banks and opening new horizons for international cooperation."  

  

He pointed out that "a decision was issued by the Board of Directors of the Central Bank to grant the Iraqi Deposit Insurance Company, the final license, with a capital of 100 billion dinars, to practice the work of guaranteeing deposits, taking into account the Central Bank of Iraq Law No. 56 of 2004, Banking Law No. 94 of 2004 and the amended Companies Law No. 21 For the year 1997, to be subject to the control and supervision of this bank, and the members of the company’s board of directors were selected and the authorized manager was appointed, the company’s site was chosen to complete the procedures and start doing its business.

So the Iraqi deposit insurance fund has a value of almost 70M USD. Pretty good after 25 years since the order to start the fund!

Well, at least there's some cooperation between some folks in Iraq.

Less than a week to go gang before the 1 year anniversary rears its ugly head for the record breaking no seated government for Iraq.

Don't think many folks are going to be celebrating this particular Anniversary, huh.

This is as of 2 days ago:   Today, after more than a year of government formation negotiations, the United States welcomes the Iraqi Council of Representatives' election of Abdul Latif Rashid as the President of Iraq. President Rashid named Mohammed Shia al-Sudani as the Prime Minister-designate.

"Good things take time" a lot of time lol...let's hope everyone has their negotiated player in place, so we can get this show on the road, I would love to see "1.46" this year or early next year...just as long as I have time to cash some out and put it into another long term deal 🤑
